Values of debulking surgery for unresectable well-differentiated metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors:a comparative study

Background and objective:The value of debulking surgery for unresectable well-differentiated metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(m-PNET)remains poorly *** study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of m-PNET following debulking surgery in our ***:Patients with well-differentiated m-PNET in our hospital between February 2014 and March 2022 were *** and long-term outcomes of patients treated with radical resection,debulking surgery,and conservative therapy were compared ***:Fifty-three patients with well-differentiated m-PNET were reviewed,including 47 patients with unresectable m-PNET(debulking surgery,25;conservative therapy,22)and 6 patients with resectable m-PNET(radical resection).Patients undergoing debulking surgery had a post-operative Clavien–DindoIII complication rate of 16.0%without *** 5-year overall survival(OS)rate of patients treated with debulking surgery was significantly higher than that of those treated with conservative therapy alone(87.5%vs 37.8%,log-rank P=0.022).Besides,the 5-year OS rate of patients treated with debulking surgery was comparable to that of patients with resectable m-PNET undergoing radical resection(87.5%vs 100%,log-rank P=0.724).Conclusions:Patients with unresectable well-differentiated m-PNET who underwent resection had better long-term outcomes than those who received conservative therapy *** 5-year OS of patients undergoing debulking surgery and radical resection were *** surgery could be considered for patients with unresectable well-differentiated m-PNET if no contraindication exists.

BACKGROUND The guiding effect of prognostic stratification in multiple myeloma(MM) for treatment has been increasingly emphasized in recent years. The main outcomes were progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).RESULTS IL-32 was an important factor affecting PFS and OS in patients with *** with patients with IL-32 levels ≥ 856.4 pg/m L, patients with IL-32 levels < 856.4 pg/m L had longer PFS(P = 0.0387) and OS(P = 0.0379);Univariate analysis showed that IL-32 level and MRD were significantly associated with OS and PFS(P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that IL-32 levels ≥ 856.4 pg/m L and MRD positive were still independent risk factors for OS and PFS(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION IL-32 is valuable for assessing the prognosis of MM patients. IL-32 level combined with MRD may be a useful routine evaluation index for MM patients after treatment.

Estimates on nitrogen uptake in the subsequent wheat by aboveground and root residue and rhizodeposition of using peanut labeled with^(15)N isotope on the North China Plain

Leguminous crops play a vital role in enhancing crop yield and improving soil fertility. Therefore, it can be used as an organic N source for improving soil fertility. The purpose of this study was to(i) quantify the amounts of N derived from rhizodeposition, root and above-ground biomass of peanut residue in comparison with wheat and(ii) estimate the effect of the residual N on the wheat-growing season in the subsequent year. The plants of peanut and wheat were stem fed with 15 N urea using the cotton-wick method at the Wuqiao Station of China Agricultural University in 2014. The experiment consisted of four residue-returning strategies in a randomized complete-block design:(i) no return of crop residue(CR0);(ii) return of above-ground biomass of peanut crop(CR1);(iii) return of peanut root biomass(CR2); and(iv) return of all residue of the whole peanut plant(CR3). The 31.5 and 21% of the labeled 15 N isotope were accumulated in the above-ground tissues(leaves and stems) of peanuts and wheat, respectively. N rhizodeposition of peanuts and wheat accounted for 14.91 and 3.61% of the BG15 N, respectively. The 15 N from the below-ground 15 N-labeled of peanuts were supplied 11.3, 5.9, 13.5, and 6.1% of in the CR0, CR1, CR2, and CR3 treatments, respectively. Peanut straw contributes a significant proportion of N to the soil through the decomposition of plant residues and N rhizodeposition. With the current production level on the NCP, it is estimated that peanut straw can potentially replace 104 500 tons of synthetic N fertilizer per year. The inclusion of peanut in rotation with cereal can significantly reduce the use of N fertilizer and enhance the system sustainability.

STUDIES ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EPSTEIN BARR VIRUS (EBV) AND PATHOGENESIS OF MULTIPLE MYELOMA

In order to explore the relationship between Epstein Barr virus (EBV) and pathogenesis of multiple myeloma (MM), the presence of EBV DNA in mononuclear cells of bone marrow (BMMC) and peripheral blood (PBMC) taken from 23 multiple myeloma patients who were neither posttransplanted nor HIV positive were examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Meanwhile the presence of EBV EBERs in bioptic bone marrow's specimens of 4 MM patients were examined by in situ hybridization (ISH). Acute leukemia, aplastic anemia and malnourished anemia patients were taken as control. It showed EBV DNA detective rate in BMMC (69 6%) and in PBMC (39 1%) of MM patients were higher significantly than control groups (P<0 05). The positive signals of EBERs were located in BMMC and the EBV positive samples detected by ISH were consistent with those by PCR. The results indicate that EBV is closely correlated to pathogenesis of MM.

In the thunderstorm process on August 3,2016,among the nine elevators in a housing estate in the middle of Neijiang City,six elevators were damaged by lightning. In this study,the impact of lightning stroke on elevators was analyzed firstly,and then measures to protect elevators against lightning were proposed,which provides a practical basis for the improvement of protection of elevators against lightning.

In this paper we propose an L1 /2 regularizer which has a nonconvex *** L 1/2 regularizer is shown to have many promising properties such as unbiasedness, sparsity and oracle properties.A reweighed iterative algorithm is proposed so that the solution of the L 1/2 regularizer can be solved through transforming it into the solution of a series of L 1 *** solution of the L 1/2 regularizer is more sparse than that of the L 1 regularizer, while solving the L 1/2 regularizer is much simpler than solving the L 0 *** experiments show that the L 1/2 regularizer is very useful and efficient, and can be taken as a representative of the Lp(0 < p < 1) regularizer.

Temperature Stress at Grain Filling Stage Mediates Expression of Three Isoform Genes Encoding Starch Branching Enzymes in Rice Endosperm

An early-maturity indica rice variety Zhefu 49, whose grain quality and starch structure are sensitive to environmental temperature, was subjected to different temperatures （32℃ for high temperature and 22℃ for optimum temperature） at the grain filling stage in plant growth chambers, and the different expressions of three isoform genes （SBEI, SBEIII and SBE/V） encoding starch branching enzyme （SBE） in the endosperms were studied by the real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR （FQ-PCR） method. Effects of high temperature on the SBE expression in developing rice endosperrns were isoform-dependent. High temperature significantly down-regulated the expressions of SBEI and SBEIII, while up-regulated the expression of SBEIV. Compared with SBEIV and SBEIII, the expression of SBEI gene in Zhefu 49 rice endosperms was more sensitive to temperature variation at the grain filling stage. This study indicates that changes in weather/climate conditions especially temperature stress influence rice grain formation and its quality as evidenced by isoform expression.
