Based on systematic petrochendstry are explored the tectonic settings of volcanic rocks bordering Yunnan and Guangxi in age of Permian-Middle Triassic. The oceanic island basalt is represented by the Longhuai pillow lava, which is, originally Hawaii-type one in the Paleotethyan ocean, an allochthon in the Indosinian foreland fold-and-thrust belt. The andesitic-basalhc rocks from Yutang-Natang, Yanaiia Mts. and Fuhng River indicate the oceanic basin subducted, overall, from Perman right up to Middle Triassic, which reflects dishnct geodynamc background of the Paleotethyan evolution from that in southwest Yunnan. The knowledge provides new teshmonies for the area bordering China and Vieinarn being, tectonica1ly, Paleotethysides and key data for reconstructing Paleotethyan evolution there

The law of superposition is not universal. Its use in stratigraphy has met challenges and puzzles in the past several hundred years. It is a truth only suitable to any local single section of lithostratigraphy, but it is unsuitable for a large region. The author makes four revisions for its significance and use range. Finally, the principle of diachronism suitable to large regions is proposed.

Located in Yantai municipality, Shandong province, Jindoushan gold deposit, a newly discovered deposit, can be easily distinguished from other types of gold deposits in Jiaodong region for its unique characteristic of large amount of galena in ore minerals. Based on the study of the chemical composition, thermoelectricity, and minor elements content, we conclude that galena is another kind of important Au-bearing, Ag-bearing minerals besides pyrite; the conductive type of galena is N type with large absolute value of thermalelectrical coefficient; metallogenic elements forming galena were derived from the wall rocks, i.e. Jingshan group, which is an association of biotite schist and garnet-biotite schist etc..

Geological analysis and physical modeling of structural pumping in high effective formation of Kela 2 gas field

In a 3.D closed geological body, in case “structural expanding” inside is induced by stress, it can produce the pressure difference between the expanding cell and surrounding rock, then generate a pumping force directed toward the cell and accelerate the directional flow of fluid in the strata. The structural style and conditions of gas reservoir-formation in the Kuqa depression are favorable to the structural pumping. According to similarity principle, a physical modeling of structure formation and gas filling process of the Kela 2 gas field has justified the occurrence of structural pumping and its important role in gas-reservoir formation with high efficiency under the compressive and well-sealed circumstance. Therefore, authors propose that structural pumping is an important mechanism of gas reservoir-formation with high efficiency in the Kuqa depression.

Large ripples are described from the Mesoproterozoic Hilfordy Formation in the Kimberley region,northwestern *** ripple index (RI) and ripple symmetry index (RSI) suggest the Kimberley ripples were likely generated by storm *** wave height is up to 15 23.cm and wave length is up to 70 90 *** features,incorporated with other morphological characteristics such as symmetry,steepness,ripple spacing,and compositions,agree well with the megaripples previously reported from the intertidal-nearshore settings of modern seas and the geological *** Mesoproterozoic ripples were likely generated by the storm-induced *** survey of the global record of megaripples reveals that such structures have occurred through the geological past from the Archean to present *** were particularly common in the Neoproterozoic and had the largest ripple length and ripple height among the modern and geological *** is probably because extreme storms prevailed at that *** frequent occurrence in present day beach is probably due to the prevalence of extreme storms caused by the monsoon or tsunami/earthquake influenced climatic regimes.

Geological condition and rainfall are two most principal conditions inducing landslides in the Chongqing region. By analyzing the forming conditions of rainfall-induced landslides, a new method for spatio-temporal prediction of rainfall-induced landslide is brought forward on the basis of grading and overlapping geological condition and rainfall factor in this paper. At first, semi-quantitative assessment and grading for the geological condition of a certain area or slope can be carried out with the multi-factor interactive matrix. Then the severity of rainfall in that area is grading according to the maximum daily rainfall and the total rainfall in a rainfall course. Finally, the “landslide probability judgement factor” can be worked out through grading and overlapping “geological condition influenc- ing factor” and “rainfall influencing factor”, by which the landslide can be graded into 4 grades, they are landslide extremely easily happening, landslide easily happening, landslide difficultly happening and landslide hardly ever happening respectively. More accurate spatio-temporal prediction of rain- fall-induced landslides can come true on the ground of detailed geological survey of some dangerous slopes in an area and more precise weather forecast. Finally, the reliability and feasibility of carrying out the spatio-temporal prediction of rainfall-induced landslides with the method of “two factors” grading and overlapping are validated by the example of Jipazi landslide.

From the point of view of plate kinematics a unified convergence velocity model is employed to derive a series of kinematic equations for deformation of Himalaya and Lhasa-Gangdise terranes during the Himalayan *** equations describe terrane shortening,crust-upper mantle thickening,lateral strike-slip movement,plateau surface uplift,erosion planation and isostatic height of the crust,*** kinematic equations for terrane deformation derived on the basis of mass conservation define the macroscopic trends of tectonic evolution of 2-D deformation of the Himalaya Terrane and 3.D deformation of the Lhasa-Gangdise Terrane during the 40Ma of the Indian-Eurasian convergence-collision on the one hand,and provide the systematically defined initial and boundary conditions for further study on the process of tectono-thermal evolution of the deformed terranes on the other hand.
