摘      要：The law of superposition is not universal. Its use in stratigraphy has met challenges and puzzles in the past several hundred years. It is a truth only suitable to any local single section of lithostratigraphy, but it is unsuitable for a large region. The author makes four revisions for its significance and use range. Finally, the principle of diachronism suitable to large regions is proposed.
