We report a reconstruction method for fast-fission events in 25 MeV/u^(86)Kr +^(208)Pb reactions at the Compact Spectrometer for Heavy Ion Experiment(CSHINE). The fission fragments(FFs) are measured using three large-area parallel-plate avalanche counters, which can deliver the position and arrival timing information of the fragments. The start timing information is provided by the radio frequency of the cyclotron. Fission events were reconstructed using the velocities of the two FFs. The broadening of both the velocity distribution and azimuthal difference of the FFs decreases with the folding angle, in accordance with the picture that fast fission occurs. The anisotropic angular distribution of the fission axis also consistently reveals the dynamic features of fission events.

Identification of novel soybean oil content-related genes using QTL-based collinearity analysis from the collective soybean genome

Soybean is a global principal source of edible plant oil. As more soybean oil-related quantitative trait loci(QTLs) have been located in the collective genome, it is urgent to establish a classification system for these distributed QTLs. A collinear platform may be useful to characterize and identify relationships among QTLs as well as aid in novel gene discovery. In this study, the collinearity MCScan X algorithm and collective soybean genomic information were used to construct collinearity blocks, to which soybean oil-related QTLs were mapped. The results demonstrated that 666 collinearity blocks were detected in the soybean genome across 20 chromosomes, and 521 collinearity relationships existed in 231 of the 242 effective soybean oil-related QTLs. This included 214 inclusion relationships and 307 intersecting relationships. Among them, the collinearity among QTLs that are related to soybean oil content was shown on a maximum of seven chromosomes and minimum of one chromosome, with the majority of QTLs having collinearity on two chromosomes. Using overlapping hotspot regions in the soybean oil QTLs with collinearity, we mined for novel oil content-related genes. Overall, we identified 23 putatively functional genes associated with oil content in soybean and annotated them using a number of annotation databases. Our findings provide a valuable framework for elucidating evolutionary relationships between soybean oil-related QTLs and lay a foundation for functional marker-assisted breeding relating to soybean oil content.

AIM： To investigate whether nicotinamide overload plays a role in type 2 diabetes. METHODS： Nicotinamide metabolic patterns of 14 diabetic and 14 non-diabetic subjects were compared using HPLC. Cumulative effects of nicotinamide and N^1-methylnicotinamide on glucose metabolism, plasma HzO2 levels and tissue nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide （NAD） contents of adult Sprague-Dawley rats were observed. The role of human sweat glands and rat skin in nicotinamide metabolism was investigated using sauna and burn injury, respectively. RESULTS： Diabetic subjects had significantly higher plasma N^1-methylnicotinamide levels 5 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load than the non-diabetic subjects （0.89 ± 0.13 μmol/L vs 0.6 ± 0.13 μmol/L, P 〈 0.001）. Cumulative doses of nicotinamide （2 g/kg） significantly increased rat plasma Nl-methylnicotinamide concentrations associated with severe insulin resistance, which was mimicked by Nl-methy-Inicotinamide. Moreover, cumulative exposure to N^1- methylnicotinamide （2 g/kg） markedly reduced rat muscle and liver NAD contents and erythrocyte NAD/ NADH ratio, and increased plasma H2O2 levels. Decrease in NAD/NADH ratio and increase in H2O2 generation were also observed in human erythrocytes after exposure to N^1-methylnicotinamide in vitro. Sweating eliminated excessive nicotinamide （5.3-fold increase in sweat nicotinamide concentration 1 h after a 100-mg nicotinamide load）. Skin damage or aldehyde oxidase inhibition with tamoxifen or olanzapine, both being notorious for impairing glucose tolerance, delayed N^1- methylnicotinamide clearance. CONCLUSION： These findings suggest that nicotinamide overload, which induced an increase in plasma N^1- methylnicotinamide, associated with oxidative stress and insulin resistance, plays a role in type 2 diabetes.

Background:There is no consensus on whether triplet regimen is better than doublet regimen in the first-line treatment of advanced gastric cancer(AGC).We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of oxaliplatin plus capecitabine(XELOX)and epirubicin,oxaliplatin,plus capecitabine(EOX)regimens in treating ***:This phase III trial enrolled previously untreated patients with AGC whowere randomly assigned to receive the XELOXor *** primary endpoint was non-inferiority in progression-free survival(PFS)for XELOX as compared with EOX on an intention-to-treat ***:Between April 10,2015 andAugust 20,2020,448AGCpatientswere randomized to receive XELOX(n=222)or EOX(n=226).The median PFS(mPFS)was 5.0 months(95%confidence interval[CI]=4.5-6.0 months)in the XELOX arm and 5.5 months(95%CI=5.0-6.0 months)in the EOX arm(hazard ratio[HR]=0.989,95%CI=0.812-1.203;P_(non-inferiority)=0.003).There was no significant difference inmedian overall survival(mOS)(12.0 vs.12.0months,P=0.384)or objective response rate(37.4%vs.45.1%,P=0.291)between the two *** patients with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and liver metastasis,the EOX arm had a significantly longer mOS(P=0.021)and a trend of longer mPFS(P=0.073)than the XELOX *** rate of grade 3/4 adverse events(AEs)was 42.2%(90/213)in the XELOX arm and 72.5%(156/215)in the EOX arm(P=0.001).The global health-related quality of life(QoL)score was significantly higher in the XELOX arm than in the EOX arm during ***:This non-inferiority trial demonstrated that the doublet regimen was as effective as the triplet regimen and had a better safety profile and QoL as a first-line treatment for AGC ***,the triplet regimen might have a survival advantage in patients with poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and liver metastasis.
