Cerebral ischemia is a major health risk that requires preventive approaches in addition to drug *** exercise enhances neurogenesis and synaptogenesis,and has been widely used for functional rehabilitation after *** this study,we determined whether exercise training before disease onset can alleviate the severity of cerebral *** also examined the role of exercise-induced circulating factors in these *** mice were subjected to 14 days of treadmill exercise training before surgery for middle cerebral artery *** found that this exercise pre-conditioning strategy effectively attenuated brain infarct area,inhibited gliogenesis,protected synaptic proteins,and improved novel object and spatial memory *** analysis showed that circulating adiponectin plays a critical role in these preventive effects of *** activation of adiponectin receptors by Adipo Ron mimicked the effects of exercise,while inhibiting receptor activation abolished the exercise *** summary,our results suggest a crucial role of circulating adiponectin in the effects of exercise pre-conditioning in protecting against cerebral ischemia and supporting the health benefits of exercise.

Lignocellulosic biomass is one of the viable solutions to alleviate the global warming. However, the limited utilization of biomass majorly focused on cellulose and hemicellulose restricts the economic and environmental feasibilities. To cope with this issue, we proposed an integrated process of co-producing 1,6-hexanediol（1,6-HDO） with tetrahydrofuran and adipic acid from biomass, referred to as strategy A. To compare the impacts of lignin upgrading and feedstock, strategy B, which co-produces tetrahydrofuran alone, and strategy C, which is the traditional route to produce 1,6-HDO from fossil fuels, were used. Heat networks are also designed to reduce operating costs and indirect carbon emissions due to energy consumption, saving 87% and 83% of the heat and cooling requirements, respectively, in strategy A. The market competitiveness of strategy A was evaluated by determining the minimum selling price through techno-economic analysis, and sustainability was thoroughly investigated by quantifying the environmental impacts through both midpoint and endpoint life-cycle assessments（LCAs）.strategy A was found to be the most favorable both economically（UsRDsCHARDOLLAR3,402/ton） and environmentally（-26.9 kg CO2eq.）. This indicates that lignin valorization is not only economically but also environmentally preferred. Finally, changes in economic and environmental feasibilities depending on economic, process, and environmental parameters were investigated using sensitivity and uncertainty analyses. The results of these analyses provide valuable insight into bio-based chemical production.

Acrylonitrile-butadiene-s.y.ene (ABs), with and without calcium carbonate (calcite) particles,was used as the matrix for reinforcement with as-received short-glass fibres (were originallytreated by the manufacturer) and sized short-glass fibres with two amino-silane coupling *** calcite particle content is 0, 11.7 and 23.5 vol. pct for the matrices. The glass fiber contentis 0, 10 and 15 vol. pct. The matrix materials and corresponding composites were compoundedusing a twin screw extruder and dumbbell-shaped tensile bars were prepared with an injectionmolding process. The tensile and flexural properties as well as the unnotched and notchedCharpy impact energies of short glass fibre/calcite/ABs composites were studied in this *** effects of fibres, fibre surface treatments and particles on these mechanical properties ofthe composites were discussed in detail. An importarit information was obtained, which is thatthe tensile and flexural strengths of hybrid sGF/calcite/ABs composites are the same as thoseof corresponding fibre composites when the ratio of the interfacial adhesion strength betweenparticles and matrix to that between fibres and matrix is higher than certain value. otherwise theformer are lower than the latter.

The deformation mechanisms and processing maps of the as-cast Al-Zn-Mg-Cu （？0？5） aluminum （AI） alloy were studied and compared with those of the homogenized 7075 Al alloy in the temperature range of 573-723 K and in the strain rate range of 10 3-10 s-1 to explore a possibility for directly using the as- cast 7075 Al alloy as a billet for hot working. The as-cast and homogenized 7075 A1 alloys had similar grain sizes and showed similar high-temperature deformation behaviors. The as-cast 7075 Al alloy, however, exhibited higher power efficiencies and smaller unstable flow regions compared to the homogenized 7075 AI alloy because of the presence of secondary phases （MgZn2） segregated at the dendritic interfaces in the as-cast microstructure, which were formed during non-equilibrium solidification. These segregated phases provided nucleation sites for dynamic recovery or continuous dynamic recrystallization, and as a result a fine and more homogeneous （sub）grain structure could be obtained from the as-cast micro- structure compared to the homogenized microstructure. The current work suggested the possibility and advantage of using as-cast microstructures for hot working of aluminum alloys with high content of solutes.

One of the main concerns in cyclic behavior of soft clay is gradual degradation with the progression of loading cycle.A series of cyclic constant-volume direct simple shear(CDss) loading tests was performed on Malaysia offshore clay to study its undrained *** testing program consists of stresscontrolled tests with cyclic shear ratio ranging from 0.34 to 0.83 at different overconsolidation ratios(OCRs).For a given cyclic stress ratio in stress-controlled tests,the accumulated cyclic strain and pore water pressure increase with elevated number of *** heavily overconsolidated clay specimens,the negative cyclic pore water pressure is generated followed by positive cyclic pore water pressure as cyclic tests *** post-cyclic strength of offshore clay specimens is reduced by undrained cyclic stresscontrolled loading.
