AIM:To study if HER-2 overexpression by locally advanced esophageal cancers increase the chance of brain metastasis following ***:We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of esophageal cancer patients who underwent esophagectomy at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics between 2000 and *** analyzed consisted of demographic and clinical *** brain metastasis tissue was assayed for HER-2 overexpression utilizing the FDA approved DAKO Hercept Test.RESULTS:One hundred and forty two patients were *** age was 64 years(36-86 years).Eighty eight patients(62%) received neoadjuvant *** complete and partial responses were achieved in 17(19%) and 71(81%) *** relapsed in 43/142(30%) *** brain was the first site of relapse in 9/43 patients(21%,95% CI:10%-36%).HER-2 immunohistochemistry testing of the brain metastasis tissue showed that 5/9(56%) cases overexpressed HER-2(3+ staining).CONCLUSION:HER-2 overexpression might be associated with increased risk of brain metastasis in esophageal cancer patients following *** studies will be required to validate this observation.

目的国际脊髓损伤内分泌和代谢功能基础数据集的建立在于提出一个标准化的方法用于收集和报告日常生活中所需的基本内分泌和代谢功能信息,使之符合国际脊髓损伤数据集的目的和要求。方法专家组采用标准化方法根据国际脊髓损伤标准和数据集执行委员会、国际脊髓损伤协会行政和科学委员会、美国脊髓损伤协会理事会和对其有兴趣的组织和学会以及个人的建议,对初始数据进行修订。数据集在国际脊髓损伤协会及美国脊髓损伤协会网站公示2个月以征集意见。结果此数据集的最终版本包含脊髓损伤前后的内分泌和代谢功能状态诊断的诸多问题。如付诸应用,脊髓损伤患者伤前信息只需采集一次,而伤后信息可随时采集。结论学习并使用此数据集有助于促进脊髓损伤人群的内分泌和代谢功能基础数据收集和报告的一致性,便于评价和比较各项有关脊髓损伤后内分泌和代谢功能研究的结果。

Posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) is a notable public health *** is an extremely debilitating condition that can occur following exposure to a psychologically distressing event that is outside the range of usual human *** events that can trigger PTSD include violent personal assaults(*** and sexual abuse),natural or human-caused disasters(*** and terrorism bombing),accidents(*** traffic accidents and families of victims),or military *** etiology of PTSD is not clear, although exposure to a traumatic event constitutes a necessary,but not sufficient,*** is highly comorbid with major depression(MD) and conduct disorder(CD) in both epidemiologic and clinical *** of individuals who are at elevated risk for developing PTSD has important implications for public health disaster preparedness and prevention of *** examine the genetic and environmental architecture of the comorbidity of PTSD with MD and CD,we analyzed 6,744 middle aged male-male monozygotic and dizygotic twins from the Vietnam Era Twin Registry maintained in the *** members of a pair were interviewed by telephone using the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Third Edition,Revised(DSM-Ⅲ-R) in *** equation modeling was used to estimate additive genetic,shared environmental and nonshared environmental effects common and specific to PTSD,CD,and MD.A set of competing nested models were assessed by comparing the goodness-of-fit between the full model and the submodel using the chi-square test and *** found that genetic,shared environmental and nonshared environmental influences contributed to 19%(95%CI:11-26%),9%(95%CI:6-17%), and 70%(95%CI:64-77%) of the total variance in PTSD,*** genetic effects on PTSD overlapped with those on MD,while all shared environmental effects on PTSD overlapped with those on *** 3%and 8%of nonshared env

The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) pandemic poses a current world-wide public health threat. However,little is known about its hallmarks compared to other infectious diseases. Here, we report the single-cell transcriptional landscape of longitudinally collected peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) in both COVID-19-and influenza A virus(IAV)-infected patients. We observed increase of plasma cells in both COVID-19 and IAV patients and XIAP associated factor 1(XAF1)-, tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-, and FASinduced T cell apoptosis in COVID-19 patients. Further analyses revealed distinct signaling pathways activated in COVID-19(STAT1 and IRF3) versus IAV(STAT3 and NFkB) patients and substantial differences in the expression of key factors. These factors include relatively increase of interleukin(IL)6R and IL6ST expression in COVID-19 patients but similarly increased IL-6 concentrations compared to IAV patients, supporting the clinical observations of increased proinflammatory cytokines in COVID-19 patients. Thus, we provide the landscape of PBMCs and unveil distinct immune response pathways in COVID-19 and IAV patients.

The cytokinesis-block micronucleus(CBMN) technique is one of the frequently used assays to detect the presence of chromosome aberrations in human populations,especially from their exposure to environmental ***,this approach has seldom been used in China although pollution in China has been a well-recognized and serious *** have used the CBMN assay:MN,nucleoplasmic bridges(NPBs) and nuclear buds(NBUDs),to study 46 pairs of healthy adult subjects from Shanghai(a polluted city) and Junan(a less polluted city),Shandong *** factors(ages,gender and ethnic) and life styles(smoking,drinking,work and history of disease) were *** the particulate matters(PMs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in PMs were analysed for two *** results showed that the PM2.5 and PM10 is lower in Shanghai in comparison with Junan(PM2.5:99.75μg/ mversus 306.32 ng/m;PM10:129.95μg/m versus 408.46μg/ m).However,there were no difference of total PAHs in PMs between the two cities(Shanghai,1.25μg/m vs Junan,1.31μg/m),but the Benzo[a]anthraacene in PMs of Shanghai was approximately three times more than Junan(Shanghai:0.59μg/m vs Junan:0.16μg/m).Poisson Regression Model showed there were no difference between the two cities in MN *** frequencies of total damage(MN,NPBs,NBUDs)(Shanghai vs Junan:3.54 ± 2.43 vs 2.76 ±2.19)and NPBs(0.48 ± 0.81 vs 0.13 ± 0.34) were significantly higher in Shanghai than that in Junan(P<0.01).The NPBs of the subjects in Shanghai was still significantly higher than that in Juan after adjusting age,gender,smoke and *** demographic factors,we deduced that perhaps the environmental pollution is the reason of the little *** work is highly desirable to investigate the genetic damage induced by PMs.

丙型肝炎是由感染丙型肝炎病毒(Hepatitis C virus,HCV)引起的,至今仍是世界公共卫生的严重威胁。为研究HCV感染者的T细胞免疫状态及其对疾病进展的影响,我们招募了62位研究对象,包括20位健康对照、42位HCV感染者。我们通过HCV主要的T细胞免疫原非结构蛋白3(NS3蛋白)多肽库体外刺激外周血淋巴细胞,利用流式细胞方法检测CD8^+T细胞和CD4^+T细胞的γ-干扰素(IFN-γ)、白介素-2(IL-2)和肿瘤坏死因子-α(TNF-α)的分泌水平。同时,我们检测了研究对象血清中白介素-6(IL-6)和白介素-10(IL-10)的水平。结果表明,HCV感染者外周血中仍持续存在针对NS3的特异性CD8^+T细胞和CD4^+T细胞。感染者血清中IL-6、IL-10显著高于对照人群。相关性分析显示,HCV感染者外周血中分泌IFN-γ和TNF-α的HCV特异性CD8^+T细胞水平及血清中IL-10水平与血清中的谷丙转氨酶(ALT)和谷草转氨酶(AST)呈现正相关。本研究表明,HCV感染者体内针对病毒的特异性细胞免疫持续保持一定的水平,并且可能与病人的肝损伤有关,该研究对于了解HCV感染的细胞免疫特征及研发相应的免疫干预策略具有一定的意义。
