Synthesis and properties of novel nitro-based thermally stable energetic compounds

This paper reviews the achievements in the field of synthesis of new thermally resistant explosive compounds in the years 2009 through 2019. The performance characteristics of these compounds(sensitivity, thermal decomposition parameters, and detonation parameters) were compared with those of 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene, which still seems to be an unrivalled model of a thermally resistant and generally low-sensitivity explosive material. New thermally stable explosives(TSEs) were found among macromolecular compounds with tri-and dinitrophenyl groups, nitro and amine-nitro derivatives of azoles, and polynitro derivatives of calixarenes. Some of them match TATB in terms of thermal resistance and additionally have higher detonation parameters.

Late Diagnosis of Congenital Optic Disc Abnormalities

Purpose: To show epidemiological and imaging aspects of congenital optic disc abnormalities diagnosed late. Method: It was a retrospective study, including all patients with congenital optic disc abnormalities diagnosed at a late age between January 2020 and October 2022 at the eye center of Abass Ndao Hospital. Complete ophthalmological examination was performed with eye imaging according to the cases. Results: 09 patients (10 eyes) were diagnosed with congenital optic disc abnormalities. The mean age was 29 years, with a sex ratio of 0.8. Three patients had consulted for unilateral decreased visual acuity since childhood, two for sudden vision loss and in four cases the diagnosis was fortuitous. Visual acuity was ranged from 1/200 to 20/20. Fundus examination showed myelinated retinal nerve fibers in four eyes, optic disc pit in three eyes including two complicated by maculopathy, two cases of morning glory syndrome and a case of pseudoduplication of the optic disc. Optical coherence tomography, ocular ultrasound B and OCT-Angiography were performed according to the cases. Conclusion: Congenital optic disc abnormalities are often diagnosed late. They are potentially amblyogenic and complications are not rare, worsening the visual prognosis. Their screening should be systematic by ophthalmological examination in newborns.

UV and soft x-ray emission from gaseous and solid targets employing SiC detectors

A ns Nd:YAG pulsed laser has been employed to produce plasma from the interaction with a dense target,generating continuum and UV and soft x-ray emission depending on the laser parameters and target *** laser hits solid and gaseous targets producing plasma in high vacuum,which was investigated by employing a silicon carbide *** two different interaction mechanisms were studied,as well as their dependence on the atomic *** photon emission from laser-generated plasma produced by solid targets,such as boron nitride(BN)and other elements(Al,Cu,Sn and Ta)and compounds such as polyethylene,has been compared with that coming from plasma produced by irradiating different gas-puff targets based on N_(2)and other gases(Ar,Xe,Kr,SF_(6)).The experimental results demonstrated that the yields are comparable and,in both cases,increase proportionally to the target atomic *** obtained results,focusing the attention on the advantages and drawbacks of the employed targets,are presented and discussed.

Objectives: More than a year after its introduction, COVID-19 vaccination coverage was low in the Togolese population and little data were available on its benefits for hospitalized patients. This study aimed to describe the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on the prognosis of hospitalized patients. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients admitted to the Centre Hospitalier Régional Lomé Commune (Togo) between June 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022. Primary outcomes (admission to the intensive care unit and death) were presented with frequency and proportion. Mortality rates were presented by sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and compared by appropriate statistical tests. Factors associated with inpatient death were described by performing a Cox proportional hazard regression. Results: A total of 604 patients were hospitalized (50.0% women). The mean age was 54.03 ±17.1 years. Only 55 patients were fully vaccinated (9.1%). ICU admission was significantly more frequent in unvaccinated patients than in vaccinated ones (63.0% vs. 38.2%;p Conclusion: COVID-19 vaccination had a significant benefit for patients with COVID-19 infection in terms of reducing the risk of death. Based on real-world data from sub-Saharan Africa, this information can help optimize the benefit of COVID-19 vaccination by raising community awareness and increasing vaccine coverage while reducing hesitancy.

Influence of canopy ratio of powered roof support on longwall working stability——A case study

Ability for Self-Pelletization of Iron Ores and Magnetite Concentrates

A procedure for evaluating the susceptibility of raw materials for the process of sintering of iron ore mixes is presented. The procedure relies on the evaluation of the amount and quality of the finest grain fraction. The method is based on determination of particular grain fractions. For the grain less than 0.15 mm, the determination of the a- mount is performed using an IPS （Infrared Particles Sizer） grain size analyzer and for the grain larger than 0.15 ram, the fraction is determined using the （wet and dry） screening methods. This allows for quantity assessment of the quality of material in terms of its susceptibility to self-pelletizing by calculating Total Ability for SelPPelletizing （TASP） index fT. The presented method, in combination with the grain size and chemical analyses, can serve for evaluation of suitability of raw material and mixes for the sintering process. Furthermore, the TASP index for 10 types of iron ores and concentrates was determined. The usability of the TASP index was verified by determination of its impact on yield of sintering process both in laboratory and in industry scale.

Incidence of human papilloma virus in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma in patients from the Lublin region

AIM:To assess the prevalence of human papilloma virus(HPV) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC) in the south-eastern region of ***:The study population consisted of 56 ESCC patients and 35 *** controls were patients referred to our department due to other nonesophageal and non-oncological disorders with no gross or microscopic esophageal pathology as confirmed by endoscopy and *** the ESCC patients,samples were taken from normal mucosa(56 mucosa samples) and from the tumor(56 tumor samples).Tissue samples from the controls were taken from normal mucosa of the middle esophagus(35 control samples).Quantitative determination of DNA was carried out using a spectrophotometric *** DNA was isolated using the QIAamp DNA Midi *** infection was identified following PCR amplification of the HPV gene sequence,using primers MY09 and MY11 complementary to the genome sequence of at least 33 types of *** sequencing results were computationally analyzed using the basic local alignment search tool ***:In tumor samples,HPV DNA was identified in 28 of 56 patients(50%).High risk HPV phenotypes(16 or/and 18) were found in 5 of 56 patients(8.9%),low risk in 19 of 56 patients(33.9%) and other types of HPV(37,81,97,CP6108) in 4 of 56 patients(7.1%).In mucosa samples,HPV DNA was isolated in 21 of 56 patients(37.5%).High risk HPV DNA was confirmed in 3 of 56 patients(5.3%),low risk HPV DNA in 12 of 56 patients(21.4%),and other types of HPV in 6 of 56 patients(10.7%).In control samples,HPV DNA was identified in 4 of 35 patients(11.4%) with no high risk *** occurrence of HPV in ESCC patients was significantly higher than in the controls [28 of 56(50%) vs 4 of 35(11.4%),P < 0.001].In esophageal cancer patients,both in tumor and mucosa samples,the predominant HPV phenotypes were low risk HPV,isolated 4 times more frequently than high risk phenotypes [19 of 56(33.9%) vs 5 of 56(8.9%),P < 0.001].A higher prevalence of HPV

C:N:P stoichiometry as an indicator of Histosol drainage in lowland and mountain forest ecosystems

Background:Peatlands form one of the largest carbon pools in the terrestrial ecosystems,representing approximately one-third of the world’s soil *** aim of this study was to evaluate C:N:P stoichiometry as an indicator of changes initialized by dehydration in Histosols of varied *** types of Histosols from lowland and mountain areas were investigated:fibric Histosols,hemic Histosols,sapric Histosols and Histosols ***:We established the concentration and stoichiometry of carbon,nitrogen and phosphorous in the Histosols,and found marked differences in C:N:P stoichiometry between the different types–especially the dehydrated *** mean C:N:P ratio of dehydrated soil was narrower than the C:N:P ratio of soil under the influence of water,which demonstrates that dehydrating Histosols leads to a narrower C:N:P *** is directly related to the intensification of the organic matter mineralisation process and the resulting loss of organic *** recorded a 50%lower carbon stock in the case of Histosols drainic compared to the other types of ***:The narrower C:N:P stoichiometry in Histosols drainic is the result of an decrease in the ratio of N and P to the C ***,this study demonstrates that C:N:P stoichiometry is a useful indicator of the changes that occur in Histosols as a result of dehydration.
