Chemotactic nanomotor for multimodal combined therapy of glioblastoma

Glioblastoma(GBM) is the most aggressive malignant brain tumor. Due to the infiltration and heterogeneity of GBM, the obstruction of the blood-brain barrier(BBB) and the unique immunosuppressive mechanism, it is hard to achieve significant effects of GBM treatment. Here, a kind of chemotactic nanomotor that loaded with glucose oxidase(GOx) and carboxylated cisplatin(Pt(IV)) prodrug on the L-arginine-derived polymer is proposed. The nanomotors are driven by catalysis of glucose decomposition and the positive chemotaxis towards the GBM microenvironment where inducible nitric oxide synthase and reactive oxygen species are highly expressed. This facilitates the BBB crossing and GBM targeting of the nanomotors. In addition, the released nitric oxide(NO) during propulsion as well as the loaded GOx and Pt(IV) can exert combined NO/starvation/chemotherapy. Meanwhile, it is able to induce and enhance the immune response through multiple pathways, thus better coping with the complexities of GBM treatment.

Water-soluble chitosan(WSC)has been studied for its ability to mobilize soil Pb and promote the phytoremediation by Hylotelephium spectabile in Pb-contaminated *** aimed to clarify the internal mechanism by which wSC impacts phytoremediation by examining plant growth and Pb accumulation performance of *** as well as the Pb form,functional groups,and mineral phases of Pb-contaminated *** effectively decreased soil pH and activated Pb migration in rhizosphere soils,with a considerable increase in water-soluble and acid-extractable Pb by 29%-102%and 9%-65%,respectively,and a clear decreasing trend in reducible and oxidizable ***-transform infrared spectroscopy revealed a significant increase in amino and hydroxyl groups in the soil generated by *** coordination of Pb with amino and hydroxyl groups may play an important role in the formation of Pb complexes and activation of Pb in *** field trials,the application of WSC significantly increased Pb accumulation in *** by 125.44%,reaching 92 g/hm^(2).Moreover,the organic matter and nitrogen in the soils were increased by WSc,which improved the growth conditions of *** obvious growth inhibition was observed in either the pot or field ***,WSC is a promising chelating agent for mobilizing Pb in ***,WSC can be potentially used to boost ***-mediated phytoremediation of Pb-contaminatedfarmland.

The development of space-air-ground integrated networks (SAGIN) requires sophisticated satellite Internet emulation tools that can handle complex, dynamic topologies and offer in-depth analysis. Existing emulation platforms struggle with challenges like the need for detailed implementation across all network layers, real-time response, and scalability. This paper proposes a digital twin system based on microservices for satellite Internet emulation,namely Plotinus,which aims to solve these problems. Plotinus features a modular design, allowing for easy replacement of the physical layer to emulate different aerial vehicles and analyze channel interference. It also enables replacing of path computation methods to simplify testing and deploying algorithms. In particular, Plotinus allows for real-time emulation with live network traffic,enhancing practical network models. The evaluation result shows Plotinus’s effective emulation of dynamic satellite networks with real-world devices. Its adaptability for various communication models and algorithm testing highlights Plotinus’s role as a vital tool for developing and analyzing SAGIN systems, offering a cross-layer,real-time,and scalable digital twin system.

Effect of Gubenfangxiao decoction on respiratory syncytial virus-induced asthma and expression of asthma susceptibility gene orosomucoid 1-like protein 3 in mice

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Gubenfangxiao decoction(GBFXD) on respiratory-syncytial-virus(RSV)-induced asthma and the expression of asthma susceptibility gene, orosomucoid 1-like protein 3(ORMDL3) in ***: Seventy-two female BALB/c mice were randomly assigned to normal, model, GBFXD high dose, GBFXD moderate dose, GBFXD low dose and montelukast groups. An asthma model was induced via intraperitoneal injection and aerosol inhalation of ovalbumin(OVA) and repeated intranasal instillation of RSV in all mice, except those in the normal group. All treatments were administered at the first onset of asthma(within 8 weeks of model establishment) and the mice were euthanized after 28 days of treatment. The levels of transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) and interleukin-6(IL-6) in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) of the mice were measured and the expression of asthma susceptibility gene ORMDL3 in lung tissue was determined using real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and western ***: Expression of ORMDL3 and levels of TGF-β and IL-6 were significantly higher in the model group(P < 0.05, P < 0.01) compared with the normal mice. Levels of ORMDL3, TGF-β and IL-6 were significantly lower in all three GBFXD treated groups(P < 0.05) compared with the model ***, the levels in the GBFXD treatment groups did not differ significantly from the montelukast ***: GBFXD had a therapeutic effect in this experimental model. The functional mechanism of GBFXD may involve multiple factors, including alleviation of airway inflammation, down-regulation of asthma susceptibility gene ORMDL3 and inhibition of airway remodeling.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic gastrointestinal disease with a high incidence. Treatment for IBD includes medications and diet， and common anti-inflammatory medications have limitations like drug resistance and serious adverse effects. Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that dietary flavonoids exhibit an alleviative effect on IBD by influencing gut microbiota. The microbiota-derived metabolites also regulate IBD and maintain intestinal homeostasis. In this review， we investigate the therapeutic effect of gut microbiota and metabolites on IBD by intestinal immune and intestinal barrier function. We demonstrate the underlying mechanism of dietary flavonoids as an anti-inflammatory molecule alleviating IBD by regulating gut microbiota， short chain fatty acid (SCFA)， bile acid (BA)， tryptophan (Trp) metabolism and lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway. Based on structural differences of flavonoids， we summarize the recent research progress on the role of different dietary flavonoids in alleviating IBD by gut microbiota and metabolites in animal and clinical trials. This review indicates that dietary flavonoids targeting gut microbiota and metabolites provide a promising strategy for the treatment of inflammation and novel insights into the management of IBD.

Spontaneous vesicles from the aqueous mixtures of dodecyl sulfonate betaine (DSB) and sodium bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (AOT) at certain mixing ratios have been demonstrated by using calorimetry, freeze-frac- ture transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), negative- staining TEM and dynamic light scattering (DLS) methods. The addition of NaCl will promote vesicle formation and the heat effect of monodisperse vesicle system is greatest. Meanwhile the mechanism was analyzed from the viewpoint of packing parameter f, molecular geometry structure and interaction.

Explicit memory errors may occur when individuals fail to retrieve information about items previously studied (item memory) or about the learning context (source memory). We examined electrophysiological measures during recognition failure in order to determine the influence of retrieval orientation for item versus source information. Recognition failure was associated with brain potentials distinct from those associated with success. Furthermore, source-memory failures were associated with earlier-onset brain potentials with a more anterior distribution compared to item-memory failures. Neurocognitive processing was thus modulated by retrieval orientation so as to differentially influence neural correlates of successful versus unsuccessful retrieval.
