Objective To establish Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy（SERS） can be used as a rapid and reliable method to distinguish virulent strain and mild strain of L. pneumophila. Methods We isolated and characterized of bacterial strains from ATCC and water samples strains, while we analyzed data from SERS technology using gold nanoparticles as a base and cell infections were employed to rapidly detect L. pneumophila strains. Origin 8.0 was used to collect Raman spectra, smooth and homogenize data, and to contrast spectra. Principal component analysis（PCA） was conducted to discriminate differences between groups using the multivariate analysis package Py Chem 3.0.5. Results Our results indicated that the peaks of high virulence strains reached ≥4000. This criterion was verified by subsequent cell experiments. In addition, we also conducted SERS rapid identification on the virulence of several collected clinical strains and obtained accurate results. Conclusion The present study indicates that the established SERS protocol can be used as a rapid and reliable method to distinguish virulent and mildly virulent strains of L. pneumophila, which can be further used in clinical samples.

Energy Efficient Social Routing Framework for Mobile Social Sensing Networks

Mobile social sensing network is one kind of emerging networks in which sensing tasks are performed by mobile users and sensing data are shared and collected by leveraging the intermittent inter-contacts among mobile users. Traditional ad hoc routing protocols are inapplicable or perform poorly for data collection or data sharing in such mobile social networks because nodes are seldom fully connected. In recent years, many routing protocols （especially social-based routing） are proposed to improve the delivery ratio in mobile social networks, but most of them do not consider the load of nodes thus may lead to unbalanced energy consumption among nodes. In this paper, we propose a simple Energy Efficient framework for Social-based Routing （EE-SR） in mobile social sensing networks to balance the load of nodes while maintaining the delivery ratio within an acceptable range by limiting the chances of forwarding in traditional social-based routing. Furthermore, we also propose an improved version of EE-SR to dynamically adjust the controlling parameter. Simulation results on real-life mobile traces demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed framework.

Optimizing hardware-software co-design based on non-ideality in memristor crossbars for in-memory computing

The memristor crossbar, with its exceptionally high storage density and parallelism, enables efficient vector matrix multiplication (VMM), significantly improving data throughput and computational efficiency. However, its analog computing is vulnerable to issues like IR-drop, device-to-device (D2D) variation, and stuck-at-fault (SAF), leading to a substantial decrease in the inference accuracy of neural networks deployed on crossbars. This work presents a hardware-software co-design approach tailored to deal with memristor crossbar non-ideality. We introduce an end-to-end functional array simulator (FAST) for precise and ultra fast end-to-end training, mapping, and evaluation of neural networks on the memristor crossbar. Utilizing the sparsity of the memristor crossbar coefficient matrix, it achieves simulation with low storage and computational resource requirements,dynamically selecting the optimal solution to complete the process. It can also precisely simulate the impact of non-ideal effects such as IR-drop, retention, variation, SAF, and AD/DA precision. Using FAST, we assess memristor crossbar matrix operations under non-ideal conditions, identifying the max throughput and the most energy-efficient crossbar configurations. Additionally,we propose a comparator-based activation function modulation (CAFM) scheme and its corresponding hardware architecture with programmable activation function circuits to address the IR-drop issue, enabling low power and area overheads, resulting in the recovery of neural network accuracy by 54%or more. This is validated within FAST, demonstrating the success of our hardware-software optimization co-design.

In this paper, we propose a Sample Average Approximation （SAA） method for a class of Stochastic Mathematical Programs with Complementarity Constraints （SMPCC） recently considered by Birbil, G/irkan and Listes [3]. We study the statistical properties of obtained SAA estimators. In particular we show that under moderate conditions a sequence of weak stationary points of SAA programs converge to a weak stationary point of the true problem with probability approaching one at exponential rate as the sample size tends to infinity. To implement the SAA method more efficiently, we incorporate the method with some techniques such as Scholtes＇ regularization method and the well known smoothing NCP method. Some preliminary numerical results are reported.

To evaluate the therapeutic efficiency of tissue-engineered human corneal endothelia (TE-HCEs) on rabbit primary corneal endotheliopathy (PCEP),TE-HCEs reconstructed with monoclonal human corneal endothelial cells (mcHCECs) and modified denuded amniotic membranes (mdAMs) were transplanted into PCEP models of New Zealand white rabbits using penetrating *** TE-HCEs were examined using diverse techniques including slit-lamp biomicroscopy observation and pachymeter and tonometer measurements in vivo,and fluorescent microscopy,alizarin red staining,paraffin sectioning,scanning and transmission electron microscopy observations in *** corneas of transplanted eyes maintained transparency for as long as 200 d without obvious edema or immune *** corneal thickness of transplanted eyes decreased gradually after transplanting,reaching almost the thickness of normal eyes after 156 d,while the TE-HCE non-transplanted eyes were turbid and showed obvious corneal *** polygonal corneal endothelial cells in the transplanted area originated from the TE-HCE *** intact monolayer corneal endothelium had been reconstructed with the morphology,cell density and structure similar to those of normal rabbit corneal *** conclusion,the transplanted TE-HCE can reconstruct the integrality of corneal endothelium and restore corneal transparency and thickness in PCEP *** TE-HCE functions normally as an endothelial barrier and pump and promises to be an equivalent of HCE for clinical therapy of human PCEP.

During the pipeline plugging process,both the pipeline and the pipe isolation tool(PIT)will be greatly damaged,due to the violent vibration of the flow *** this study,it was proposed for the first time to reduce the vibration of the flow field during the plugging process by optimizing the surface structure of the ***,the central composite design(CCD)was used to obtain the optimization schemes,and the drag coefficient and pressure coefficient were proposed to evaluate the degree of flow field ***,a series of computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations were performed to obtain the drag coefficient and pressure coefficient during dynamic *** the mathematical model of drag coefficient and pressure coefficient with the surface structure of the PIT were established ***,a modified particle swarm optimization(PSO)was applied to predict the optimal value of the surface structure of the ***,an experimental rig was built to verify the effectiveness of the *** results showed that the improved method could reduce the flow field vibration by 49.56%.This study provides a reference for the design of the PIT surface structure for flow field vibration technology.

AIM： To demonstrate the cytotoxic effect and possible mechanisms of Tetracaine on human corneal epithelial（HCEP） cells in vitro.·METHODS： In vitro cultured HCEP cell were treated with Tetracaine hydrochloride at different doses for different times, and their morphology, viability, and plasma membrane permeability were detected by light microscopy, methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium（MTT） assay,and acridine orange（AO）/ethidium bromide（EB） staining,respectively. Their cell cycle progression, phosphati-dylserine orientation in plasma membrane, and mitochondrial membrane potential（MTP） were assessed by flow cytometry. DNA fragmentation, ultrastructure,caspase activation, and the cytoplasmic apoptosis inducing factor（AIF） and cytochrome c（Cyt. c） along with the expression of B-cell lymphoma-2（Bcl-2） family proteins were examined by gel electrophoresis,transmission electron microscope, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay（ELISA）, and Western blot,respectively.·RESULTS： After exposed to Tetracaine at doses from10.0 to 0.3125 g/L, the HCEP cells showed dose- and time-dependent morphological abnormality and typical cytopathic effect, viability decline, and plasma membrane permeability elevation. Tetracaine induced phosphati-dylserine externalization, DNA fragmentation, G1 phase arrest, and ultrastructural abnormality and apoptotic body formation. Furthermore, Tetracaine at a dose of0.3125 g/L also induced caspase-3,-9 and-8 activation,MTP disruption, up-regulation of the cytoplasmic amount of Cyt. c and AIF, the expressions of Bax and Bad, and down-regulation of the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bcl-x L.·CONCLUSION： Tetracaine above 0.3125 g/L（1/32 of its clinical applied dosage） has a dose- and time-dependent cytotoxicity to HCEP cells in vitro, with inducing cellapoptosis via a death receptor-mediated mitochondriondependent pathway.
