A methodology study is performed in order to get access to databases and calculations via Internet. The data retrieved from a database or calculated from a program can be converted into HTML documents using the HTML extension files (* htx) as the template and sent back to the web browsers. As an example, a database and a program package for thermodynamic and equilibrium properties data retrieval and calculations in engineering chemistry are developed on the web server.

Background Infantile epileptic spasms syndrome(IESS)is a serious disease in infants,and it usually evolves to other epilepsy types or syndromes,especially refractory or super-refractory focal *** adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH)is one of the first-line and effective treatment plans for IESS,it has serious side effects and is not sufficiently *** A retrospective study of the clinical outcomes of ACTH combined with magnesium sulfate(MgSO4)therapy for IESS in two hospital centers was *** major outcome of the single and combined treatment was evaluated by changes in seizure frequency and improvements in hypsarrhythmia electroencephalography(EEG).To reduce the confounding bias between the two groups,we used SPSS for the propensity score matching(PSM)*** We initially recruited 12.5 IESS patients from two chinese hospitals and treated them with ACTH combined with MgSO4 and ACTH *** 1005 patients were enrolled in the treatment(ACTH combined with MgSO4:744,ACTH:2.1),and both treatment plans had a more than 55%response ***,compared to patients treated with ACTH alone,those patients treated with ACTH combined with MgSO4 had better performance in terms of the seizure frequency and hypsarrhythmia *** PSM,the two groups also showed significant differences in responder rate[70.8%(95%confidence interval,CI)=66.7%–74.8%)vs.53.8%(95%CI=47.4%–60.2.),Psis revealed that the lead time to treatment and the number of antiseizure medications taken before treatment were two factors that may affect the clinical *** with less than 3.months of lead time responded to the treatment much better than those with>3.months(P3..4%vs.63.1%,P<0.001).During the treatment,only

Laser Compton scattering(LCS) can generate X-rays or γ-rays with high brightness and easy controlled polarization by applying high-peak-power laser pulses to relativistic electron bunches. One of the most promising approaches to short pulsed X-ray sources is the laser synchrotron source. It is based on LCS between picoseconds relativistic electron bunches and picoseconds laser pulses. A project of Shanghai laser electron gamma source with LCS method has been proposed on Shanghai synchrotron radiation facility. Before that,a prototype has been developed in the beamline of the linear accelerator at the Shanghai institute of Applied Physics,chinese {2. of {3.. The LCS experiment was carried out by using the 107 MeV,5 Hz,1 ns,0.1 nC electron bunches from the linear accelerator and the 18 ns,10 MW peak power,Nd∶YAG laser pulses. In this communication,we describe the details and report the first results of this experiment.

Time-resolved IR absorption spectroscopy has been used to atudy the photochemistry of W(CO)_6 in cyclohexane, carbon tetrachloride, and the mixture of carbon tetrachloride and cyelohexane. The reastion of photolytically generated W(CO)_5. C_6H_(12. with CCl_4 was investigated. An intermediate with a lifetime of about 0.5ms, presumably attributed as W(GO)_***_4, was first observed.

The research on climate change in polar regions, especially on the role of polar in the global climate system, has gain unprecedented level of interest. It has been the key scientific issue of the International Polar Year program (IPY, 2.07—2.08). In this paper, we dealt with the debate upon the breakup time of the stratospheric polar vortex in boreal spring. An observational study of the relation between stratospheric polar vortex breakup and the extra-tropical circulation was performed. The mean breakup date—when the winter westerly at the core of polar jet turns to summer easterly—is about April 10. The breakup time has large interannual variation with a time span of about 2.months. It also has a long-term trend with the 1990s and 2.00s witnessing more and more late breakups of polar vortex. Composite of wind speed at the core of polar jet for the extremely early and late breakup years shows that late years have two periods of westerly weakening while early breakup years have only one. The flrst weakening in the late years happens in middle January with wind speed dropping sharply from more than 40 m s^(-1) to about 15 m s^(-1). This is accompanied with anomalous activities of planetary waves in both stratosphere and troposphere; while the second weakening in the late breaking years is mainly the results of diabatic heating with very weak wave activities. In early breakup years, the transition from westerly to easterly is rapid with wind speed dropping from more than 3. m s^(-1) to less than -10 m s^(-1) within a month. This evolution is associated with a strong bidirectional dynamical coupling of the stratosphere and troposphere. The circulation anomalies at low troposphere are also analyzed in the extremely early and late breakup years. It shows that there are significant differences between the two kinds of extreme years in the geopotential height and temperature composite analysis, indicating the dynamical coupling of stratosphere and troposphere with the evo

A simple X-ray spectrometer and a PC-Based Data Acquisition System(DAS) have been developed newly in Shanghai institute of Applied Physics(siNAP),chinese {2. of {3.(CAS) for the measurement of the X-ray source generated using laser Compton scattering. The system consists of liquid nitrogen cooled high resolution si(Li) detector,electronics and a DAQ. The si(Li) detector was designed and made by Center of Advanced Instruments in siNAP,CAS,it allows us to measure X-rays with the energy up to 60 keV and the energy resolution(FWHM) of 184 eV at 5.9 keV. We measured the system uncertainty was 0.2.eV and time drifting of detector was 0.05% both at 5.9 keV. The DAQ was based on Object-Oriented software LabVIEW 7.1,it has data on-line analysis and original data saved functions.

Background:The high incidence of gallstone recurrence was a major concern for laparoscopic gallbladderpreserving *** study aimed to investigate the risk factors for gallstone recurrence after gallbladder-preserving surgery and to establish an individualized nomogram model to predict the risk of gallstone ***:The clinicopathological and follow-up data of 183.patients who were initially diagnosed with gallstones and treated with gallbladder-preserving surgery at our hospital from January 2.12.to January 2.19 were retrospectively *** independent predictive factors for gallstone recurrence following gallbladder-preserving surgery were identified by multivariate logistic regression analysis.A nomogram model for the prediction of gallstone recurrence was constructed based on the selected *** C-index,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and calibration curve were used to evaluate the predictive power of the nomogram model for gallstone ***:During the follow-up period,a total of 65 patients experienced gallstone recurrence,and the recurrence rate was 3..5%.Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the course of gallstones>2.years[odds ratio(OR)=2.567,95%confidence interval(CI):1.2.0-5.187,P=0.009],symptomatic gallstones(OR=2.589,95%CI:1.059-6.3.0},P=0.03.),multiple gallstones(OR=2.43.,95%CI:1.13.-5.2.7,P=0.02.),history of acute cholecystitis(OR=2.778,95%CI:1.178-6.549,P=0.02.)and a greasy diet(OR=2.3.9,95%CI:1.186-4.53.,P=0.014)were independent risk factors for gallstone recurrence after gallbladder-preserving surgery.A nomogram model for predicting the recurrence of gallstones was established based on the above five *** results showed that the C-index of the nomogram model was 0.692.suggesting it was valuable to predict gallstone ***,the calibration curve showed good consistency between the predicted probability and actual ***:The nomogram model for

Quantum heat engines and refrigerators are open quantum systems,whose dynamics can be well understood using a non-Hermitian formalism.A prominent feature of non-Hermiticity is the existence of exceptional points(EPs),which has no counterpart in closed quantum *** has been shown in classical systems that dynamical encirclement in the vicinity of an EP,whether the loop includes the EP or not,could lead to chiral mode ***,we show that this is valid also for quantum systems when dynamical encircling is performed in the vicinity of their Liouvillian EPs(LEPs),which include the effects of quantum jumps and associated noise—an important quantum feature not present in previous *** demonstrate,using a Paul-trapped ultracold ion,the first chiral quantum heating and refrigeration by dynamically encircling a closed loop in the vicinity of an *** witness the cycling direction to be associated with the chirality and heat release(absorption)of the quantum heat engine(quantum refrigerator).Our experiments have revealed that not only the adiabaticity breakdown but also the Landau–Zener–Stückelberg process play an essential role during dynamic encircling,resulting in chiral thermodynamic *** observations contribute to further understanding of chiral and topological features in non-Hermitian systems and pave a way to exploring the relation between chirality and quantum thermodynamics.
