Rice is the primary carbohydrate staple cereal feeding the world population. Many genes, known as quantitative trait loci （QTLs）, con- trol most of the agronomically important traits in rice. The identification of QTLs controlling agricultural traits is vital to increase yield and meet the needs of the increasing human population, but the progress met with challenges due to complex QTL inheritance. To date, many QTLs have been detected in rice, including those responsible for yield and grain quality; salt, drought and submergence tolerance; disease and insect resistance; and nutrient utilization efficiency. Map-based cloning techniques have enabled scientists to successfully fine map and clone approximately seventeen QTLs for several traits. Additional in-depth functional analyses and characterizations of these genes will provide valuable assistance in rice molecular breeding.

Plants often face the challenge of severe environmental conditions, which include various biotic and abiotic stresses that exert adverse effects on plant growth and development. During evolution, plants have evolved complex regulatory mechanisms to adapt to various environmental stressors. One of the consequences of stress is an increase in the cellular concentration of reactive oxygen species （ROS）, which are subsequently converted to hydrogen peroxide （H2O2）. Even under normal conditions, higher plants produce ROS during metabolic processes. Excess concentrations of ROS result in oxidative damage to or the apoptotic death of cells. Development of an antioxidant defense system in plants protects them against oxidative stress damage. These ROS and, more particularly, H2O2, play versatile roles in normal plant physiological processes and in resistance to stresses. Recently, H2O2 has been regarded as a signaling molecule and regulator of the expression of some genes in cells. This review describes various aspects of H2O2 function, generation and scavenging, gene regulation and cross-links with other physiological molecules during plant growth, development and resistance responses.

BACKGROUND QT interval prolongation can induce torsades de pointes(TdP),a potentially fatal ventricular ***,an increasing number of non-cardiac drugs have been found to cause QT prolongation and/or TdP ***,recent findings have demonstrated the key roles of systemic inflammatory activation and fever in promoting long-QT syndrome(LQTS)and TdP *** SUMMARY A 30-year-old woman was admitted with a moderate to high-grade episodic fever for two *** patient was administered with multiple antibiotics after hospitalization but still had repeating fever and markedly elevated C-reactive *** after a high fever,the patient suddenly lost consciousness,and electrocardiogram(ECG)showed transient TdP onset after frequent premature ventricular *** patient recovered sinus rhythm and consciousness spontaneously,and post-TdP ECG revealed a prolonged QTc interval of 560 *** patient’s clinical manifestations and unresponsiveness to the antibiotics led to the final diagnosis of adult-onset Still’s disease(AOSD).There was no evidence of cardiac *** the AOSD diagnosis,discontinuation of antibiotics and immediate initiation of intravenous dexamethasone administration resulted in the normal temperature and QTc *** genetic analysis identified that the patient and her father had heterozygous mutations in KCNH2(c.1370C>T)and AKAP9(c.7725A>C).During the 2-year follow-up period,the patient had no recurrence of any arrhythmia and maintained normal QTc *** This case study highlights the risk of systemic inflammatory activation and antibiotic-induced TdP/LQTS *** analysis should be considered to identify individuals at high risk of developing TdP.

In order to resolve the relay selection problem in wireless mobile relay networks （WMRNs）, a novel balanced energy-efficient mobile relay selection scheme is proposed in this paper. Compared with traditional counter-based algorithm, distance and energy consumption are considered from network respect to provide a better network lifetime performance in the proposed scheme. Also, it performs well when nodes move freely at high speed. A random assessment delay （RAD） mechanism is added to avoid collisions and improve transmission efficiency. Simulation results reveal that, the proposed scheme has advantages in prolonging network lifetime, balancing energy compared with existing counter-based scheme. consumption and reducing the total energy consumption

Based on the theory of lie symmetries and conserved quantities, the exact invariants and adiabatic invariants of nonholonomic system in terms of quasi-coordinates are studied. The perturbation to symmetries for the nonholonomic system in terms of quasi-coordinates under small excitation is discussed. The concept of high-order adiabatic invariant is presented, and the forms of exact invariants and adiabatic invariants as well as the conditions for their existence are given. Then the corresponding inverse problem is studied.

Background The left atrial size has been considered as a useful marker of adverse cardiovascular outcomes. However, it is not well known whether left atrial area index （LAAI） has predictive value for prognosis in patients with unstable angina pectoris （UAP）. This study was aimed to assess the association between LAAI and outcomes in UAP patients. Methods We enrolled a total of 391 in-hospital patients diag- nosed as UAP. Clinical and echocardiographic data at baseline were collected. The patients were followed for the development of ad- verse cardiovascular （CV） events, including hospital readmission for angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction （AMI）, congestive heart failure （CHF）, stroke and all-cause mortality. Results During a mean follow-up time of 26.3±8.6 months, 98 adverse CV events occurred （84 hospital readmission for angina pectoris, four AMI, four CHF, one stroke and five all-cause mortality）. In a multivariate Cox model, LAAI [OR： 1.140, 95% CI： 1.01±1.279, P = 0.026], diastolic blood pressure （OR： 0.976, 95% CI： 0.956-0.996, P = 0.020） and pulse pressure （OR 1.020, 95% CI： 1.007-1.034, P = 0.004） were independent predictors for adverse CV events in UAP patients. Conclusions LAAI is a predictor of adverse CV events independent of clinical and other echocardiographic parameters in UAP patients.

Objective:To discuss the effect of prolonged second stage of labor on maternal and neonatal ***:A total of 101 primiparas with the length of second stage of labor longer than 2 h were selected and pregnant women with the length less than 2 h served as *** maternal and neonatal outcomes of two groups were observed and ***:A total of 62.1%(18/11) with the length of second stage of labor between 120 min and 180 min,46.7%(28/32) between 181 min and 240 min and 12 longer than 241 min underwent vaginal *** longer the length of second stage of labor,the lower score of Apgar scale for infants in 1 min,and the higher the incidence of *** there was no difference in scale in 5 *** second stage of labor prolonged,the incidences of cesarean section and of postpartum hemorrhage increased. Conclusions:Almost half of puerperas with the length of second stage of labor longer than 2 h underwent vaginal *** prolonged second stage of labor can decrease the score of Apgar scale in 1 min,increase the incidence of asphyxia,but has no effect on scale in 5 *** still need more evidence from evidence medicine to definition of time and treatment of second stage of labor.

The crystal structure and magnetic properties of SmFeg_xCox （x = 0, 1, 3, 5） alloys were studied by X-ray powder diffraction （XRD） and magnetic measurements. The Th2Znl7-type structure of the as-cast state is changed to TbCu7-type structure after quenching to a rotating molybdenum roll under certain velocity （12, 20, and 32 m.s-l）. The （002） XRD peak appears and ^-Fe phase disappears when the Co is added up to x = 5. Saturation magnetization of SmFe9 under different temperature shows 9 % change （112-102 A.m2.g-1） when the temperature is higher than 200 K. The saturation magnetization is 115 A.m2.g-1 and coercivity is 0.304 T at 5 K for SmFe9 alloys. Increased saturation magnetization and decreased coercivity can be obtained for Co added up to x = 5 at 5 K.
