A calcium stearate-based hydrophobic coating was formed on an anodized magnesium alloy by the electrodeposition *** influences of the working voltages on the characteristics of the coatings were *** results indicate that the working voltages have significant effects on the morphology,thickness,roughness,and wettability of the hydrophobic coatings,but little influence on the phase *** working voltages promote the nucleation of the coatings during the deposition *** thickness,roughness,and water contact angle of the coatings increase with the increase in working *** addition,the influences of the working voltages on the corrosion properties and corrosion mechanisms of the coated magnesium alloys are discussed in *** the working voltage is 50 V,the best corrosion resistance is obtained,but when the working voltages are 20 V and 100 V,respectively,a low corrosion resistance is obtained because of the presence of the thinner and cracked coating on the substrate surfaces.

Dear Editor, Short-tailed sperms are rarely encountered in clinical practice, but they make achieving fertilization difficult. We encountered a very rare case of an infertile man having short-tailed sperm. A 32-year-old Chinese farmer and his 27-year-old wife were referred to Xiamen Maternity and Child Care Hospital for a fertility evaluation.

Glutathione S-transferases（GSTs） from Liposcelis bostrychophila Badonnel and ***（Enderlein）（Psocoptera：Liposcelididae） were purified by glutathione-agarose affinity chromatography,and characterized subsequently by their Michaelis-Menten kinetics toward the artificial substrates 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene（CDNB） and reduced glutathione（GSH）,*** specific activity of the purified GST toward CDNB was 2.3-fold higher in *** than in *** the specific activities of purified enzymes varied between the two species,the purification yields were ***-PAGE revealed one band at 23 kDa for both the *** of *** exhibited higher Michaelis-Menten constants（Km） but lower maximal velocity（Vmax） values than those of *** optimum pH for CDNB conjugation of *** and *** GSTs was 7.0 and 7.5,and optimum temperature was 35 and 40°C,*** kinetics showed that cibacron blue,curcumin,bromosulfalein,ethacrynic acid,and carbosulfan had excellent inhibitory effects on GSTs in both species,but the inhibitory effects of beta-cypermethrin,fenpropathrin,tetraethylthiuram disulfide,and diethyl maleate were not significant.

In this work, we developed a highly sensitive method to detect melamine based on reversed phase liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. A mass spectrometry compatible ion pair, heptafluorobu-tyric acid(HFBA), was used to separate melamine by reversed phase liquid chromatography prior to electrospray mass spectrometry. The incorporation of isotope internal standard and multiple reaction monitoring improved the accuracy and linearity of quantification. Based on this strategy, the method limit of quantification was 0.1 ng/g. The limits of quantification were 8 ng/g for liquid milk and 15 ng/g for dry milk powder. This method provided a reproducible and stable approach to sensitive detection and quantification of melamine.

AIM To identify functional proteins involved in pancreaticduodenal homeobox-1(PDX1)-mediated effects on gastric *** A PDX1-overexpressed model was established by transfecting gastric cancer cell line SGC7901 with pcDNA3.1(+)-PDX1 vector(SGC-PDX1). Transfection with empty pcDNA3.1 vector(SGC-pcDNA) served as control. Comparative protein profiles of the two groups were analyzed by two-dimensional electrophoresis basedproteomics(2 DE gel-based proteomics). The differential proteins identified by 2 DE were further validated by qRTPCR and immunoblotting. Finally, co-immunoprecipitation was used to determine any direct interactions between PDX1 and the differential ***2 DE gel proteomics identified seven differential proteins in SGC-PDX1 when compared with those in SGC-pcDNA. These included four heat shock proteins(HSPs; HSP70 p1 B, HSP70 p8, HSP60, HSP27) and three other proteins(ER60, laminin receptor 1, similar to epsilon isoform of 14-3-3 protein). Immunoblotting validated the expression of the HSPs(HSP70, HSP60, HSP27). Furthermore, their expressions were lowered to 80%, 20% and 24%, respectively, in SGC-PDX1, while PDX1 exhibited a 9-fold increase, compared to SGC-pcDNA. However, qRT-PCR analysis revealed that mRNA levels of the HSP s were increased in SGC-PDX1, suggesting that the expression of the HSP s was post-translationally regulated by the PDX1 protein. Finally, co-immunoprecipitation failed to identify any direct interaction between PDX1 and HSP70 *** This study demonstrates the potential involvement of HSPs in PDX1-mediated effects on the genesis of gastric cancer.

High-cost pre-alloyed powder is the bottleneck problem that limits the widespread application of additivemanufactured shape memory *** this work,the lowcost ternary NiTiFe shape memory alloy is fabricated by laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)technique via mechanically mixed pre-alloy NiTi powder and varying contents pure Fe powder(1,2,3 wt%).All NiTiFe alloys show a relative density of up to 99.8%by optimizing the LPBF processing *** to the heterogeneous nucleation effect of micron-sized Fe particles,both grain refinement and texture weakening are generated in the NiTiFe alloys,accompanied by the reduction of dislocation *** the room-temperature mechanical properties,the NiTi-3Fe alloy shows the highest microhardness of HV370,but the fracture strength and elongation reduce to1701 MPa and 23%*** evolution of mechanical properties is attributed to the high internal defects,low dislocation density and the incoherent ***,the NiTi-3Fe alloy shows the quasi-linear superelasticity behavior;the superelastic recoverable strain of NiTi-1Fe and NiTi-2Fe decreased with the increase in Fe *** study provided a new-fangled insight for the development of multi-component NiTi-based shape memory alloys by additive manufacturing.

Dear Editor, True hermaphroditism is a condition in which the gonads, genital morphology, and sexuality simultaneously show both male and female characteristics （ovaries and testes） or in which both types of gonadal tissue exist in a single gonad （known as an ovariotestis）. True hermaphroditism associated with a chimeric or 46, XX/46, XY karyotype is extremely rare, and the genitalia of those affected can be characterized as female, male, or mixed.1-3 The cause of true hermaphroditism has not been determined because the condition is relatively rare and has a diverse phenotype.4
