Sandy gravel foundations exhibit non-linear dynamic behavior when subjected to strong ground motions,which can have amplification effects on superstructures and can reveal insufficient lateral resistance of *** methods can be used to improve the seismic performance of natural sandy gravel *** strength and stiffness of grouted sandy gravel foundations are different from those of natural foundations,which have unknown earthquake *** studies have investigated the seismic behavior of sandy gravel foundations before and after *** this study,two shaking table tests were performed to evaluate the effect of grouting reinforcement on seismic *** natural frequency,acceleration amplification effect,lateral displacement,and vertical settlement of the non-grouted and grouted sandy gravel foundations were measured and ***,the dynamic stress-strain relationships of the two foundations were obtained by a linear inversion method to evaluate the seismic energy *** test results indicated that the acceleration amplification,lateral displacement amplitude,and vertical settlement of the grouted sandy gravel foundation were lower than that of the non-grouted foundation under low-intensity ***,a contrasting result was observed under high-intensity *** demonstrated that different grouting reinforcement strategies are required for different sandy gravel *** addition,the dynamic stress-strain relationship of the two foundations exhibited two different energy dissipation *** results provide insights relating to the development of foundations for relevant engineering sites and to the dynamic behavior of grouted foundations prior to investigating soil-structure interaction problems.

Copolymerization-Assisted Preparation of Porous LiMn_2O_4 Hollow Microspheres as High Power Cathode of Lithium-ion Batteries

Porous LiMn2O4 hollow microspheres were facilely prepared by incorporation of Li and Mn elements into a spherical polymeric precursor through copolymerization of lithium and manganese acetates with resorcinol and hexamethylenetetramine and then burning off the organic matrix at appropriate temperatures in air. The LiMn2O4 inherited the spherical morphology of the polymeric precursor but showed hollow porous structure assembled by nanocrystals of about 50–100 nm in size. When tested as cathode of Li-ion batteries, the LiMn2O4 hollow spheres exhibited excellent rate capability and cycle stability.A discharge capacity of above 90 mAh g-1was maintained at 10 C（1C = 120 mAg-1）, and the cells can still deliver a discharge capacity over 100 mAhg-1after another 115 cycles at 0.5 C. With such excellent electrochemical properties, the prepared LiMn2O4 hollow microspheres could be promising cathode of Li-ion batteries for long term and high power applications.

We present the electronic structure and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) for uranium, niobium and U3Nb in which uranium is substituted by niobium. Comparing the electronic structures and optical properties for uranium, niobium and U3Nb, we found that when niobium atom replaces uranium atom in the center lattice, density of state (DOS) of U3Nb shifts downward to low energy. Niobium affects DOS for f and d electrons more than that for p and s electrons. U3Nb is similar to uranium for the electronic energy loss spectra.

Solid oxide electrolysis cell(SOEC) can electrochemically convert CO2 to CO at the gas-solid interface with a high current density and Faradaic efficiency, which has attracted increasing attentions in recent *** efficient catalyst for electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction(CO2 RR) at the cathode is a grand challenge for the research and development of SOEC. Sr2Fe1.5Mo0.5O6-δ(SFM) is one kind of promising cathode materials for SOEC, but suffers from insufficient activity for CO2 RR. Herein, Gd0.2Ce0.8O1.9(GDC)nanoparticles were infiltrated onto the SFM surface to construct a composite GDC-SFM cathode and improve the CO2 RR performance in SOEC. The current density over the GDC infiltrated SFM cathode with a GDC loading of 12.8 wt% reaches 0.446 A cm-2 at 1.6 V and 800 °C, which is much higher than that over the SFM cathode(0.283 A cm-2). Temperature-programmed desorption of CO2 measurements suggest that the infiltration of GDC nanoparticles significantly increases the density of surface active sites and three phase boundaries(TPBs), which are beneficial for CO2 adsorption and subsequent conversion. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results indicate that the polarization resistance of 12.8 wt% GDCSFM cathode was obviously decreased from 0.46 to 0.30 cm^2 after the infiltration of GDC nanoparticles.

Urumqi Glacier No. 1 is a representative glacier in the inland areas of Central Asia and is the only Chinese reference glacier in the World Glacier Monitoring Service. In this study, we explored multi-decadal variations in the flow velocity of the glacier and the influencing factors based on continuous field observations and path coefficient analysis. Results show that the glacier flow velocity decreased from 5.5 m/a in 1980/1981 to 3.3 m/a in 2010/2011. The annual variation in the direction of glacier flow velocity in the western branch and eastern branch was less than 1°–3°, and the change of glacier flow velocity in the western branch was more dramatic than that in the eastern branch. Glacier flow velocity was influenced by glacier morphology（including glacier area, glacier length, and ice thickness）, glacier mass balance and local climate conditions（air temperature and precipitation）, the glacier morphology being the leading factor. The long-term flow velocity data set of Urumqi Glacier No. 1 contributes to a better understanding of glacier dynamics within the context of climatic warming.

While a growing number of wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)are being retrofitted from the conventional activated sludge(CAS)process to the membrane bioreactor(MBR)process,the debate on the techno-economy of MBR *** has continued and calls for a thorough assessment based on techno-economic *** this study,we analyzed the operating data of 20 large-scale WWTPs(capacity≥10000 m^(3)/d)and compared their techno-economy before and after the retrofitting from CAS to *** cost-benefit analysis,we evaluated the net profit by subtracting the operating cost from the environmental benefit(estimated by the shadow price of pollutant removal and water reclamation).After the retrofitting,the removal rate of pollutants increased(e.g.,from 89.0%to 93.3%on average for NH3-N),the average energy consumption increased from 0.40 to 0.57 kWh/m^(3),but the operating cost did not increase *** average marginal environmental benefit increased remarkably(from 0.47 to 0.66 CNY/g for NH3-N removal),leading to an increase in the average net profit from 19.4 to 24.4 CNY/*** further scored the technical efficiencies via data envelopment analysis based on non-radial directional distance *** the retrofitting,the relative cost efficiency increased from 0.70 to 0.73(the theoretical maximum is 1),while the relative energy efficiency did not change *** techno-economy is closely related to the effluent standard adopted,particularly when truncating the extra benefit of pollutant removal beyond the standard in economic *** modeling results suggested that MBR is more profitable than CAS given stricter effluent standards.

A highly sensitive method for the detection of a breast cancer-associated BRCA-1 gene is reported. The detection is based on a classical sandwich-type assay using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) as a catalytic label and electrodeposited Os2+/3+ conducting polymer (PAA-PVI-Os) as a redox mediator. Target DNA could be detected by the HRP-catalyzed reduction of H2O2, leading to a limit of detection as low as 10 fM.

Al-Nb-B细化剂兼具优异的组织细化效果和良好的抗Si毒化性能,是铸造铝合金的理想细化剂。为改善传统熔炼法所制细化剂母合金中形核质点分布不均匀的问题,本工作通过熔融盐反应制备细化剂母合金,从而使细化剂中形核质点弥散分布。结果表明,与传统的熔炼法相比,熔融盐反应法不仅促进了形核质点的弥散分布,还降低了细化剂中形核质点的平均尺寸(10μm→1μm),进而提高细化剂对铝合金晶粒尺寸的细化效率(34%→79%)。在此基础上,对铸态熔融盐细化剂进行了热挤压/冷轧变形处理,进一步提高了形核质点分布的弥散性,其中热挤压态细化剂的细化效果更好,且抗衰退性能优异。最终,研究了热挤压态熔融盐细化剂对铸造铝合金ZL104和ZL114A微观组织及力学性能的影响。结果表明,该细化剂将ZL104和ZL114A合金的晶粒尺寸分别细化79.2%和78.5%,并显著降低了合金的铸造缺陷,提高了塑性和冲击韧性,具有较高的工程应用价值。
