Intersections appear where one street crosses another,acting as fundamental nodes embedded in the network of urban public *** discussed in configurationa and perceptive studies,limited attention has been paid to the morphological aspects of *** study proposes and tested a new approach to modeling the urban intersection ***,effective cylinder was introduced to define the related space for each intersection based on its ***,a set of morphological indicators were presented to measure the physical properties of the intersection ***,the affinity propagation algorithm was used to examine the patterns of intersection *** the Old City of Nanjing,China as the study area,844 intersections were analyzed to test this new *** a result,we were able to classify the intersections into eight *** study shows that the intersection can be modelled as a volumetric and integral spatial unit of urban form,which may demand more attention from urban designers and architects in the future for shaping the built *** quantitative nature of our method could also open more possibilities for intersection-based studies.

In this work, we present novel trivalent lanthanide ions（Ln^3＋）-based luminescent hybrid materials, in which the organic ligands are covalently grafted on the hectorite templates and the Ln^3＋ ions can be well immobilized by the ligands through coordination bond. The hybrid materials exhibit tunable emission colors by varying the molar ratio of Eu^3＋ to Tb^3＋, and the one with Eu^3＋：Tb^3＋=1：1 exhibits excellent coordinate of（0.327, 0.328） located in the ＂white region＂ of the CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram（under300 nm UV illumination）. These properties make the hybrid composites suitable for fabricating optoelectronic devices such as full-color displays and white LED.

The statistical characteristics and mechanisms of mesoscale eddies in the North Indian Ocean are investigated by adopting multi-sensor satellite data from 1993 to *** the Arabian Sea(AS),seasonal variation of eddy characteristics is remarkable,while the intraseasonal variability caused by planetary waves is crucial in the Bay of Bengal(BOB).Seasonal variation of the eddy kinetic energy(EKE)is distinct along the west boundary of AS,especially in the Somali Current *** the BOB,larger EKE occurs at the northwest basin from March to May,to the east of Sri Lanka from June to September,and along the east coast of India from November to *** wind stress work(WW)is further studied to figure out the direct influence of wind forcing on *** WW exerts positive effects on EKE along the west boundary of AS and in the south of India/Sri Lanka during the two monsoon ***,the WW also has impact on EKE along the east coast of India in November and ***,we investigate the characteristics and the driving mechanisms of long lifespan *** the AS,long lifespan anti-cyclonic eddies(AEs)mainly generate in the Socotra,the West Indian Coastal Current and the East Arabian Current regions,while cyclonic eddies(CEs)are concentrated in the northwest *** the BOB,long lifespan AEs mostly form near the west of Myanmar,while CEs are accumulated at the north and northwest *** instabilities caused by Rossby waves,coastal Kelvin waves,seasonal currents,together with wind stress forcing exert enormous efforts on the generation and evolution of these eddies.

The formation of solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) and ion intercalation are two key processes in rechargeable batteries, which need to be explored under dynamic operating conditions. In this work, both planar and sandwich model lithium batteries consisting of Li metal | ionic liquid electrolyte | graphite electrode have been constructed and investigated by a series of in situ surface analysis platforms including atomic force microscopy, Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It is found that the choice of electrolyte, including the concentration and contents, has a profound effect on the SEI formation and evolution, and the subsequent ion intercalation. A smooth and compact SEI is preferably produced in highconcentration electrolytes, with FSI^(-) salt superior to TFSI^(-) salt, facilitating the lithiation/delithiation to achieve high capacity and excellent cycle stability, while suppressing the co-intercalation of electrolyte solvent ions. The innovative research scenario of well-defined model batteries in combination with multiple genuinely in situ surface analysis methods presented herein leads to insightful results, which provide valuable strategies for the rational design and optimization of practical batteries, and energy storage devices in general.

The productivity and health of seagrass depend on the combined inputs of nutrients from the water and sediments in which they grow and the microbiota with which they live ***,little is known about the composition and diversity pattern of single-celled benthic eukaryotes in seagrass ***,we investigated how the structure and diversity of the benthic microeukaryotic community vary with respect to season,location,and seagrass colonization,by applying 18S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing for 96 surface sediment samples that were collected from three different seagrass habitats through four *** found that benthic microeukaryotic communities associated with seagrass Zostera japonica exhibited remarkable spatial and seasonal variations,as well as differences between vegetated and unvegetated *** and dinoflagellates predominated in the benthic microeukaryotic communities,but they were inversely correlated and displaced each other as the dominant microbial group in different seasons or *** was more prevalent in vegetated sediments,whereas Lobulomycetales and Chytridiales had higher proportions in unvegetated *** organic carbon and total organic nitrogen were the most important environmental factors in driving the microeukaryotic assemblages and *** study expands the available knowledge on the biogeographic distribution patterns and niche preferences for benthic microeukaryotes in seagrass systems.

The geochemical characteristics of aeolian and surface materials in potential source areas of dust are frequently employed in environmental reconstructions as proxies of past climate and as source tracers of aeolian sediments deposited in downwind areas. However, varia- tions in the geochemical characteristics of these aeolian deposits that result from near-surface winds are currently poorly understood. In this study, we collected surface samples from the Ala Shah Plateau （a major potential dust source area in Central Asia） to determine the influence of aeolian processes on the geochemical characteristics of aeolian transported materials. Correlation analyses show that compared with surface materials, the elements in transported materials （e.g., Cu, As, Pb, Mn, Zn, Al, Ca, Fe, Ga, K, Mg, P, Rb, Co, Cr, Na, Nb, Si, and Zr） were subjected to significant sorting by aeolian processes, and the sorting also varied among different particle size fractions and elements. Variations in wind velocity were significantly correlated with the contents of Cr, Ga, Sr, Ca, Y, Nd, Zr, Nb, Ba, and Al, and with the Zr/Al, Zr/Rb, K/Ca, Sr/Ca, Rb/Sr, and Ca/Al ratios. Given the great variation in the geochemical characteristics of materials transported under different aeolian processes relative to those of the source materials, these results indicate that considerable uncertainty may be introduced to analyses by using surface materials to trace the potential source areas of aeolian deposits that accumulate in downwind areas.

PINK1/Parkin-mediated mitophagy is an important process in selective removal of damaged mitochondria, in which translocation of Parkin to damaged mitochondria is recognized as an initiation step. At present, how the damaged mitochondria are selectively recognized and targeted by Parkin is not fully understood. Here we show that Miro2, an outer mitochondrial membrane protein, undergoes demultimerization from a tetramer to a monomer and alteration in mitochondrial localization upon CCCP treatment, suggesting a CCCP-induced realignment of Miro2. The realignment of Miro2 is tightly regulated by PINK1-mediated phosphorylation at Ser325/Ser430 and by Ca^2+binding to EF2 domain, which are both essential for the subsequent Parkin translocation. Interestingly, ablation of Miro2 in mouse causes delayed reticulocyte maturation, lactic acidosis and cardiac disorders. Furthermore, several Miro2 mutations found in the congenital lactic acidosis patients also disable its realignment and Parkin translocation. These findings reveal an important role of Miro2 to mediate Parkin translocation by sensing both depolarization and Ca^2+release from damaged mitochondria to ensure the accuracy of mitophagy.
