Strain sensor on a chip for quantifying the magnitudes of tensile stress on cells

During cardiac development,mechanotransduction from the in vivo microenvironment modulates cardiomyocyte growth in terms of the number,area,and arrangement ***,the response of cells to different degrees of mechanical stimuli is ***-on-a-chip,as a platform for investigating mechanical stress stimuli in cellular mimicry of the in vivo microenvironment,is limited by the lack of ability to accurately quantify externally induced ***,previous technology lacks the integration of external stimuli and feedback sensors in microfluidic platforms to obtain and apply precise amounts of external ***,we designed a cell stretching platform with an in-situ *** in-situ liquid metal sensors can accurately measure the mechanical stimulation caused by the deformation of the vacuum cavity exerted on *** platform was applied to human cardiomyocytes(AC16)under cyclic strain(5%,10%,15%,20 and 25%),and we found that cyclic strain promoted cell growth induced the arrangement of cells on the membrane to gradually unify,and stabilized the cells at 15%amplitude,which was even more effective after 3 days of *** platform’s precise control and measurement of mechanical forces can be used to establish more accurate in vitro microenvironmental models for disease modeling and therapeutic research.

A Hybrid Approach for Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of Bearings Based on the RReliefF Algorithm and Extreme Learning Machine

Accurately predicting the remaining useful life(RUL)of bearings in mining rotating equipment is vital for mining *** research aims to distinguish the features associated with the RUL of bearings and propose a prediction model based on these selected *** study proposes a hybrid predictive model to assess the RUL of rolling element *** proposed model begins with the pre-processing of bearing vibration signals to reconstruct sixty time-domain *** hybrid model selects relevant features from the sixty time-domain features of the vibration signal by adopting the RReliefF feature selection ***,the extreme learning machine(ELM)approach is applied to develop a predictive model of RUL based on the optimal *** model is trained by optimizing its parameters via the grid search *** training datasets are adjusted to make them most suitable for the regression model using the cross-validation *** proposed hybrid model is analyzed and validated using the vibration data taken from the public XJTU-SY rolling element-bearing *** comparison is constructed with other traditional *** experimental test results demonstrated that the proposed approach can predict the RUL of bearings with a reliable degree of accuracy.

Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene(UHMWPE)plays an important role in many important fields as engineering *** this contribution,a precipitation polymerization strategy is developed by combination of highly active phosphino-phenolate nickel catalysts with polymer-insoluble solvent(heptane)to access UHMWPE(Mn up to 8.3×10^(6)g mol^(-1))with good product morphology,free-flowing characteristics,and great mechanical *** with the academically commonly used aromatic solvent(toluene),the utilization of heptane offers simultaneous enhancement in important parameters including activity,polymer molecular weight,and catalyst thermal *** system can also generate polar functionalized UHMWPE with molecular weight of up to 1.6×10^(6)g mol^(-1)in the copolymerization of ethylene with polar *** importantly,this precipitation polymerization strategy is generally applicable to several representative transition metal catalyst systems,leading to UHMWPE synthesis with good product morphology control.

Dual-aligned porous electrodes for enhanced hydrogen evolution in alkaline water electrolysis

The efficiency of water electrolysis is significantly affected by the bubbles on the surface and inside the *** enhance the gas-liquid transfer within the porous electrodes,we developed an innovative design termed dual-aligned porous electrode(D-APE),achieved by integrating magnetic alignment with freeze casting *** paper investigates the hydrogen evolution performance of porous electrodes prepared using four different methods:evaporation,magnetic-aligned evaporation,freeze casting,and dual-aligned *** findings demonstrate that the magnetic-aligned process effectively alters the electrode structure,resulting in improved hydrogen evolution ***,among all the examined electrodes,the D-APE exhibits the highest hydrogen evolution performance,with further enhancements observed with prolonged the time of magnetic ***,a comparison is made between electrodes prepared using the freeze casting method and the dual-aligned method at various *** results show that the thinner D-APE exhibits excellent hydrogen evolution performance at high current ***,the D-APE demonstrates significantly improved material utilization rates compared to the conventional freeze casting method,offering promising prospects for enhancing the efficiency of water electrolysis.

Objective Cognitive impairment(CI)in older individuals has a high morbidity rate worldwide,with poor diagnostic methods and susceptible population *** study aimed to investigate the relationship between different retinal metrics and CI in a particular population,emphasizing polyvascular *** We collected information from the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community Study on retinal vessel calibers,retinal nerve fiber layer(RNFL)thickness,and cognitive function of 3,785participants,aged 40 years or *** regression was used to analyze the relationship between retinal metrics and cognitive *** stratified by different vascular statuses were also *** RNFL thickness was significantly thinner in the CI group(odds ratio:0.973,95%confidence interval:0.953–0.994).In the subgroup analysis,the difference still existed in the non-intracranial arterial stenosis,non-extracranial carotid arterial stenosis,and peripheral arterial disease subgroups(P<0.05).Conclusion A thin RNFL is associated with CI,especially in people with non-large vessel *** underlying small vessel change in RNFL and CI should be investigated in the future.

Response of maize growth and soil biological characteristics to planting density under fertigation in a semi-arid region

Increasing the planting density can exacerbate crop competition for water,nutrients and space which results in a decline in the crop ***,the effect of increasing planting density on crop growth and soil biological characteristics in barren sandy land in the semi-arid regions are still *** this study,we investigated the effects of six planting densities(5.4×10^(4),6.45×10^(4),7.95×10^(4),9.5×10^(4),9.75×10^(4) and 10.5×10^(4) plants/hm^(2))on maize growth,photosynthesis characteristics,yield and soil biological characteristics in barren sandy soil in the semi-arid region of Ningxia,*** results indicated that the stem diameter and spike length decreased linearly with increasing planting *** plant height,spike weight,grain weight and 100-grain weight decreased with increasing plating ***,the root length increased with increasing planting *** diameter,volume and activity increased and then decreased with increasing planting *** was no significant difference(p>0.05)in the effect of planting density on transpiration rate intercellular CO_(2) *** well,the soil microbial biomass carbon and microbial biomass nitrogen decreased with increasing planting *** soil catalase activities increased and then decreased with increasing planting *** alkaline phosphatase activity,the amounts of soil bacteria and actinomycetes increased with increasing planting ***,a moderately increasing planting density can improve maize yield when water and nutrients are *** optimal planting density was 8.29×10^(4) plants/hm^(2) and the highest yield was 15.84 t/hm^(2) in barren sandy soil in semi-arid region of Ningxia,*** study provides a theoretical basis for high yield and high efficiency of maize.

Exposure to stress negatively affects error processing,but the impact of stress on error awareness remains to be *** the present study,we examined the temporal dynamics of error awareness and post-error adjustment following acute ***-nine healthy men were randomly assigned to the control(n=26)or stress group(n=23).After stress induction,participants completed the error awareness task,and their brain activity was assessed by *** to the control group,the stress group demonstrated lower error awareness accuracy and smaller Pe(error positivity)andΔPe amplitudes following aware error responses,which indicated impairment of error awareness following ***,the stress group had lower accuracy in post-aware error responses than in post-unaware error responses and the control group,which indicated poor post-error adjustment following *** results showed a stress effect on sequential stages of error *** induces impaired error identification,which further generates maladaptive post-error performance.

Enhancing personalized exercise recommendation with student and exercise portraits

The exercise recommendation system is emerging as a promising application in online learning scenarios,providing personalized recommendations to assist students with explicit learning *** solutions generally follow a collaborative filtering paradigm,while the implicit connections between students(exercises)have been largely *** this study,we aim to propose an exercise recommendation paradigm that can reveal the latent connections between student-student(exercise-exercise).Specifically,a new framework was proposed,namely personalized exercise recommendation with student and exercise portraits(PERP).It consists of three sequential and interdependent modules:Collaborative student exercise graph(CSEG)construction,joint random walk,and recommendation list ***,CSEG is created as a unified heterogeneous graph with students’response behaviors and student(exercise)***,a joint random walk to take full advantage of the spectral properties of nearly uncoupled Markov chains is performed on CSEG,which allows for full exploration of both similar exercises that students have finished and connections between students(exercises)with similar ***,we propose to optimize the recommendation list to obtain different exercise *** analyses of two public datasets,the results demonstrated that PERP can satisfy novelty,accuracy,and diversity.

To investigate the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of ischemic stroke,some methods have been proposed that can simultaneously monitor and create embolisms in the animal cerebral ***,these methods often require complex systems and the effect of age on cerebral embolism has not been adequately studied,although ischemic stroke is strongly *** this study,we propose an optical-resolution photoacoustic microscopy-based visualized photothrombosis methodology to create and monitor ischemic stroke in mice simultaneously using a 532 nm pulsed *** observed the molding process in mice of different ages and presented age-dependent vascular embolism ***,we integrated optical coherence tomography angiography to investigate age-associated trends in cerebrovascular variability following a *** imaging data and quantitative analyses underscore the differential cerebrovascular responses to stroke in mice of different ages,thereby highlighting the technique's potential for evaluating cerebrovascular health and unraveling age-related mechanisms involved in ischemic strokes.
