A cross-sectional study on predictors of patients'' tinnitus severity

Objective: To identify factors that influence the severity of tinnitus via a hierarchical multiple linear regression ***: The study was a retrospective cross-sectional analysis. The study included 331 patients experiencing tinnitus as their primary concern, who visited Shanghai Changzheng Hospital of the Navy Medical University between 2019 and 2021. Data on general health status and disease characteristics were collected from all patients. With their consent, participants underwent audiological evaluatons and completed questionnaires to analyze the characteristics of their tinnitus and the factors influencing its ***: The correlation analysis showed a positive relationship between tinnitus frequency, tinnitus loudness, SAS scores, and PSQI scores with THI scores (P < 0.05) among nine examined variables (gender, handedness, employment status, age, BMI, tinnitus frequency, tinnitus loudness, SAS scores, and PSQI scores). The variables that were extracted from the multiple regression were; for the constant;β =-51.797,t = -4.484,P < 0.001, variable is significant; for the tinnitus loudness;β= 0.161,t = 2.604,P < 0.05, variable is significant; for the tinnitus frequency;β = 0.000,t= 1.269,P= 0.206, variable is not significant; for the SAS scores;β= 1.310,t = 7.685,P < 0.001, variable is significant; for the PSQI scores;β= 1.680,t = 5.433,P < 0.001, variable is significant. Therefore, the most accurate model for predicting severity in tinnitus patients is a linear combination of the constant, tinnitus loudness, SAS scores, and PSQI scores,Y (Tinnitus severity) =β0+β1(Tinnitus loudness) + β2(SAS scores) +β3(PSQI scores).β0,β1,β2, andβ3 are -51.797, 0.161, 1.310 and 1.680, ***: Tinnitus severity is positively associated with loudness, anxiety levels, and sleep quality. To effectively manage tinnitus in patients, it is essential to promptly identify and address these accompanying factors and related symptoms.

TURBULENT OPEN CHANNEL FLOW SUBJECTED TO THE CONTROL OF A SPANWISE TRAVELING WAVE

Turbulent open channel flows subjected to the control of a spanwise traveling wave have been investigated by means of Direct Numerical Simulation （DNS）. The objective of this study is to reveal the response of the near-wall and surface-influenced turbulence to the spanwise traveling wave control. Three typical frequencies of the spanwise traveling wave, i.e., high-, middle- and low-frequency, corresponding to the exciting periods at 25, 50 and 100, are considered to study the turbulence dynamics in the wall and surface regions. To elucidate the behaviors of turbulence statistics, some typical quantities, including the mean velocity, velocity fluctuations and the structures of turbulence fluctuations, are exhibited and analyzed.

Excellent ethanol sensing properties based on Er_2O_3-Fe_2O_3 nanotubes

In this work, pure α-Fe2O3 and Er2O3-Fe2O3 nanotubes were synthesized by a simple single-capillary electrospin- ning technology followed by calcination treatment. The morphologies and crystal structures of the as-prepared samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction, respectively. The gas-sensing properties of the as-prepared samples have been researched, and the result shows that the Er2O3-Fe2O3 nanotubes exhibit much better sen- sitivity to ethanol. The response value of Er2O3-Fe2O3 nanotubes to 10 ppm ethanol is 21 at the operating temperature 240α, which is 14 times larger than that of pure α-Fe2O3 nanotubes （response value is 1.5）. The ethanol sensing properties of α-Fe2O3 nanotubes are remarkably enhanced by doping Er, and the lowest detection limit of Er2O3-Fe2O3 nanotubes is 300 ppb, to which the response value is about 2. The response and recovery times are about 4 s and 70 s to 10 ppm ethanol, respectively. In addition, the Er2O3-Fe2O3 nanotubes possess good selectivity and long-term stability.

目的探讨影像学检查脊柱脂肪指数(SAI)对腰椎后路器械融合术后深部手术部位感染(DSSI)的预测价值。方法选择2018年1月至2020年12月在该院接受腰椎后路器械融合术后发生DSSI的31例患者作为研究组,按照3∶1比例抽取同期在该院行腰椎后路器械融合术后无DSSI的93例患者作为对照组。在腰椎中矢状位T2加权MRI图像上测量患者皮下脂肪厚度和SAI值,观察两组患者皮下脂肪厚度和SAI差异;采用多因素Logistic平衡其他临床资料后,观察SAI与DSSI的关系。结果研究组皮下脂肪厚度和SAI均高于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(P2级、术后引流时间>3 d、手术节段>2节段是DSSI的风险因素(P<0.05)。结论SAI是腰椎后路器械融合术后DSSI的风险因素,可用于术前手术患者的风险分层。

Although there have been significant advances in the treatment of heart failure in recent years,chronic heart failure remains a leading cause of cardiovascular disease-related *** studies have found that targeted cardiac metabolic remodeling has good potential for the treatment of heart ***,most of the drugs that increase cardiac energy are still in the theoretical or testing *** research has found that botanical drugs not only increase myocardial energy metabolism through multiple targets but also have the potential to restore the balance of myocardial substrate *** this review,we summarized the mechanisms by which botanical drugs(the active ingredients/formulas/Chinese patent medicines)improve substrate utilization and promote myocardial energy metabolism by activating AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs)and other related *** the same time,some potential protective effects of botanical drugs on myocardium,such as alleviating oxidative stress and dysbiosis signaling,caused by metabolic disorders,were briefly discussed.

The Metabolic Responses of Aspergillus flavus to N-Acetylcysteine,Ascorbate,and H2O2

Aflatoxin, the secondary metabolite of Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus, is the most toxic product in nature. In this study, N-acetylcysteine （NAC）, ascorbate, and H2O2 were used to ascertain their effects on fungal metabolic response of A. flavus. The results demonstrated that NAC did not affect fungal growth, but inhibited the aflatoxin Bt production, with the concomitant sporulation reduction. NAC increased the ratio of reduced glutathione （GSH） and oxidized glutathione （GSSG）, but decreased the activity of glutathione reductase （GR）. Ascorbate had similar effect on fungal growth, sporulation, and GR activity, but GSH/GSSG and total glutathione （tGSH, including GSH and GSSG） were significantly increased. H2O2 at high concentration （5 mM） inhibited fungal growth, but the aflatoxin production was increased. At the same time, it reduced GR activity and enhanced tGSH. Though reductive agents had different effects on GSH metabolism, reductive conditions inhibited aflatoxin production and sporulation without any effect on fungal growth. The results in this report confirmed that the relationship between oxidative stress and aflatoxin production is theoretically important in controlling aflatoxin contamination.

Formaldehyde is a common atmospheric pollutant produced in industrial production and daily ***,the traditional semiconductor formaldehyde gas sensor cannot work at room temperature,which limits its practical ***,developing high-performance gas sensors for rapidly and accurately detecting formaldehyde at room temperature is an important *** this study,Ti_(3)C_(2)Tx/SnO_(2)heterostructures were constructed,which could selectively detect formaldehyde at room temperature with a response value of 29.16%(10×10^(-6)).In addition,the sensor shows a remarkable theoretical detection limit of 5.09×10^(-9)and good longterm *** functional theory(DFT)simulations reveal that SnO_(2)nano spheres provide the majority of adsorption sites that strongly interact with ***,Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)acting as a conductive layer facilitates the transfer of charge carriers so that they show a sensing response to formaldehyde at room ***,the formation of p-n heterostructures between SnO_(2)and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)boosts the Schottky barrier at the interface,which is the critical factor in enhancing the sensing properties by turning the Schottky barrier upon introducing formaldehyde *** perspective is expected to provide instructive guidance for utilizing MXene/metal oxide nanocomposites to improve the gas sensing performance at room temperature.

Dynamic Analysis of A Deepwater Drilling Riser with A New Hang-off System

The safety of risers in hang-off states is a vital challenge in offshore oil and gas engineering.A new hang-off system installed on top of risers is proposed for improving the security of *** approach leads to a challenging problem:coupling the dynamics of risers with a new hang-off system combined with multiple structures and complex *** accurately analyze the dynamic responses of the coupled system,a coupled dynamic model is established based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam-column theory and penalty function method.A comprehensive analysis method is proposed for coupled dynamic analysis by combining the finite element method and the Newmarkβ*** analysis program is also developed in MATLAB for dynamic *** simulation results show that the dynamic performances of the risers at the top part are significantly improved by the new hang-off system,especially the novel design,which includes the centralizer and articulation *** bending moment and lateral deformation of the risers at the top part decrease,while the hang-off joint experiences a great bending moment at the bottom of the lateral restraint area which requires particular attention in design and *** platform navigation speed range under the safety limits of risers expands with the new hang-off system in use.

Loosely coordinating diluted highly concentrated electrolyte toward -60℃ Li metal batteries

Lithium metal batteries(LMBs) promise energy density over 400 Wh kg^(-1).However,they suffer severe electrochemical performance deterioration at sub-zero *** failure behavior highly correlates to inferior lithium metal anode(LMA) compatibility and sluggish Li^(+) ***,we demonstrate that cyclopentylmethyl ether(CPME) based diluted high-concentration electrolyte(DHCE)enables-60℃ LMBs *** leveraging the loose coordination between Li^(+) and CPME,such developed electrolyte boosts the formation of ion clusters to derive anion-dominant interfacial chemistry for enhancing LMA compatibility and greatly accelerates Li^(+) desolvation *** resulting electrolyte demonstrates high Coulombic efficiencies(CE),providing over 99.5%,99.1%,98.5% and 95% at 25,-20,-40,and-60℃*** assembled Li-S battery exhibits remarkable cyclic stability in-20,and-40℃ at 0.2 C charging and 0.5 C *** at-60℃,Li-S cell with this designed electrolyte retains> 70% of the initial capacity over 170 ***,lithium metal coin cell and pouch cell with10 mg cm^(-2) high S cathode loading exhibit cycling stability at-20℃.This work offers an opportunity for rational designing electrolytes toward low temperature LMBs.
