Cultivating Erect Milkvetch (Astragalus adsurgens Pall.) (Leguminosae) Improved Soil Properties inLoess Hilly and Gulliesin China

Erect milkvetch （Astragalus adsurgens Pall.）, a leguminous grass, is a major source of fuel and forage, and has an important role in the restoration of the degraded ecosystems in central and northeastern China. The objective of this work was to investigate how erect milkvetch planting would affect the physical and chemical properties of soil in degraded arable lands. Soil samples at the depths of 0-20 and 20-40 cm were collected from erect milkvetch planting fileds at ages of 0, 1, 2 and 3 yr. Changes in soil bulk density, soil porosity, total N and P, organic matter content, available P, hydrolysable N and available K were measured. The results showed that root biomass and above-ground plant biomass were both significantly increased with plantation age. The significant increase in root nodule biomass was not observed in the first two years. However, it was significantly increased after three years. Root growth of erect milkvetch improved soil structure, and hence, decreased soil bulk density and increased soil porosity. Furthermore, the nitrogen fixation by erect milkvetch and return of erect milkvetch plant to soil increased the soil total N, hydrolysable N and organic matter content of the soil. Low concentrations of P in the soil with erect milkvetch planting could be ascribed to high plant uptakes and possibly to high sequestrations of P in plant biomass. Concentrations of K significantly increased during the first two years of erect milkvetch planting. The high accumulation of K under erect milkvetch cultivation in the first two years could partly be attributed to low plant uptake, and partly to relatively quick recycling within plant-soil systems. Three years after erect milkvetch plantingr, K accumulation at 0-20 cm soil layer was significantly lower than that from non-vegetated field sites, which could be attributed to high plant uptake. 目的探讨入院时24 h动态心电图参数与肺心病患者心肺功能指标的相关性及24 h动态心电图参数联合检测对肺心病患者呼吸衰竭发生的预测价值。方法前瞻性选取2021年8月至2023年8月郑州颐和医院收治的118例肺心病患者纳入研究,出院后随访6个月,根据是否发生呼吸衰竭分为发生组27例和未发生组91例。比较两组患者的右心室射血分数(EFRV)、血氧分压(PaO_(2))、二氧化碳分压(PaCO_(2))、第1秒用力呼气容积/用力肺活量(FEV1/FVC)及24 h动态心电图参数P波异常改变、ST段异常改变、平均R-R间期标准差(SDNN)、每5 min时段正常R-R间期标准差(SDANN)、低频成分/高频成分(LF/HF);采用Pearson相关性分析入院时24 h动态心电图参数与肺心病患者心肺功能指标的相关性;采用受试者工作特征(ROC)曲线分析24 h动态心电图参数P波异常改变、ST段异常改变、SDANN、SDNN、LF/HF联合检测对肺心病患者发生呼吸衰竭的预测效能。结果发生组患者入院时EFRV、PaO_(2)、FEV1/FVC分别为(32.24±3.10)%、(54.12±4.26)mmHg、(53.12±3.22)%,明显低于未发生组的(35.67±3.37)%、(60.01±4.79)mmHg、(57.86±3.75)%,PaCO_(2)为(65.57±5.60)mmHg,明显高于未发生组的(60.28±4.38)mmHg,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);发生组患者入院时P波异常改变、ST段异常改变比例分别为66.67%、74.07%,明显高于未发生组的13.19%、16.48%,SDNN、SDANN、LF/HF分别为(82.53±8.63)ms、(71.26±8.03)ms、1.31±0.16,明显低于未发生组的(89.14±10.41)ms、(78.95±9.77)ms、1.47±0.21,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05);Pearson相关性分析结果显示,入院时P波异常改变、ST段异常改变与FEV1/FVC、EFRV、PaO_(2)呈负相关(P<0.05),与PaCO_(2)呈正相关(P<0.05),SDANN、SDNN、LF/HF与FEV1/FVC、EFRV、PaO_(2)呈正相关(P<0.05),与PaCO_(2)呈负相关(P<0.05);ROC曲线分析结果显示,入院时P波异常改变、ST段异常改变、SDNN、SDANN、LF/HF联合检测预测肺心病并发呼吸衰竭的AUC为0.911,大于上述指标的单独预测的0.767、0.788、0.815、0.780、0.793。结论肺心病患者入院时24 h动态心电图参数P波异常改变、ST段异常改变、SDNN、SDANN、LF/HF与心肺功能指标密切相关,且上述指标联合检测对肺心病患者是否发生呼吸衰竭具有较高的预测价值,可为早期评估肺心病患者预后、制定干预方案提供参考依据。

Harmony between man and nature:the base for the harmonious society

The harmony between man and nature is the base for the harmonious society. It is determined by the eco-ruleand eco-economic rule. Human being should not violate the eco-rule. However, human being can make eco-systemsupply suit economic growth and its speed through systematical innovation and restriction of human economic activityand choice. Through technological innovation, efficiency satisfaction of unit resource can be increased; structure andfunction of eco-system can be perfected; supply capability of eco-system can be improved. To build the harmonioussociety, human should consider the reasonable distribution of limited resources from two sides. The first one is that theutilization of two functions of resource supply and pollution purification to nature should not exceed its special supplycapability formed under its special structure and function states, i.e. harmony between man and nature. The second sideis human being should think over the reasonable and effective distribution of limited resources in economic society, *** between human beings and society. The reasonable economic activity of human being is the key to the harmo-nious development of man and nature.

Successful pregnancy and birth after intrauterine insemination using caput epididymal sperm by percutaneous aspiration

Aim: To manage male infertility with obstructive azoospermia by means of percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) and intrauterine insemination (IUI). Methods: Ninety azoospermic patients with congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (BAVD, n=58) or bilateral caudal epididymal obstruction (BCEO, n=32) requesting for fine needle aspiration (FNA), PESA and IUI were recruited. The obstruction was diagnosed by vasography and determination of the fructose, carnitine and alpha-glucosidase levels in the seminal fluid. Results: The mean sperm motility, density, abnormal sperm and total sperm count of the caput epdidymis were 16 %±22 %, (12±31) ×106/mL, 55 %±36 % and (16±14)×106, respectively. In the 90 couples, a total of 74 PESA procedures and 66 cycles of IUI were performed. Three pregnancies resulted, including one twin pregnancy giving birth to two healthy boys, one single pregnancy with a healthy girl and another single pregnancy aborted at week 6 of conception. The pregnancy rate per IUI cycle was 4.5 %. Conclusion: The birth of normal, healthy infants by IUI using PESA indicates that the caput epididymal sperm possess fertilization capacity. The PESA-IUI programme is a practical and economical procedure for the management of patients with obstructive azoospermia.

毛里湖位于湖南省4大水系之一的澧水下游,是湖南省最大的溪水湖,鱼类资源十分丰富,然而毛里湖及入湖溪流的鱼类资源尚鲜有系统研究。了解毛里湖鱼类多样性现状及分布对毛里湖水生生物多样性保护具有重要意义。该研究基于2023年春季19处采样点的调查,利用eDNA(Environmental DNA)宏条形码法对东毛里湖、西毛里湖及周边入湖水系进行了鱼类多样性及其分布格局调查。结果显示,研究区检测到鱼类47种,隶属于7目14科36属,其中80.85%的种类属于鲤形目和鲈形目,优势种为小黄黝鱼(Micropercops swinhonis)(26.07%)、团头鲂(Megalobrama amblycephala)(15.47%)和鲤(Cyprinus carpio)(11.67%),珍稀鱼类有圆尾斗鱼(Macropodus chinensis)和寡鳞鱊(Acheilognathus hypselonotus),平均Shannon-Wiener多样性指数为2.38。毛里湖鱼类以杂食性和肉食性鱼类为主,群落结构上、下层水环境鱼类较多。单因素方差分析结果表明,湖区与永久性入湖溪流间的Pielou均匀度指数存在显著差异(P<0.05),鱼类群落间存在极显著差异(P<0.001),湖区鱼类物种较为丰富,生态系统稳定性更高。冗余分析显示,鱼类分布格局差异受水环境pH值和温度影响较大。该研究可为毛里湖及永久性入湖溪流的水生生物多样性保护提供科学依据。

Light-controlled protein imprinted nanospheres with variable recognition specificity

This work develops a protein imprinted nanosphere with varied recognition specificity for bovine serum albumin(BSA) and lysozyme(Lyz) under different UV light through a gradient dual crosslinked imprinting strategy(i.e., covalent crosslinking and dynamic reversible crosslinking). The imprinting cavities are initially constructed using irreversible covalent crosslinking to specifically recognize BSA, and then the coumarin residues in the imprinting cavities are crosslinked under 365 nm UV light to further imprint Lyz,because Lyz has smaller size than BSA. Since the photo-crosslinking of coumarin is a reversible reaction,the imprinting cavities of Lyz can be de-crosslinked under 254 nm UV light and restore the imprinting cavities of BSA. Moreover, the N-isopropyl acrylamide(NIPAM) and pyrrolidine residues copolymerized in the polymeric surface of the nanospheres are temperature-and p H-responsive respectively. Therefore, the protein rebinding and release behaviors of the nanospheres are controlled by external temperature and p H. As a result, the materials can selectively separate BSA from real bovine whole blood and Lyz from egg white under different UV light. This study may provide a new strategy for construction of protein imprinted materials with tunable specificity for different proteins.

Elemental sulfur effects on Pb and Zn uptake by Indian mustard and winter wheat

A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the influence of elemental sulfur to contaminated soil on plant uptake by a heavy metal hyperaccumulator, Indian mustard(Brassica juncea) and a field crop, winter wheat(***). Elemental sulfur(S) with different rates was carried out, they were 0(S 0), 20(S 20), 40(S 40), 80(S 80), and 160(S 160) mmol/kg respectively. Extra pots with the same rates of S but without plants were used for soil sampling to monitor pH and CaCl 2-extractable heavy metal changes. The results showed that S enhanced phytoextraction of Pb and Zn from contaminated soil. Application S effectively decreased soil pH down to 1.1 as the most at the rate of S 160. The concentrations of CaCl 2-extractable Pb and Zn in soil and uptake of Pb and Zn by the plants were increased with soil pH decreased. A good correlation between CaCl 2-extractable Pb/Zn and soil pH was found(R 2 Pb = 0.847 and R 2 Zn = 0.991, n=25). With S application, soil CaCl 2-extractable Pb and Zn concentrations, concentration of Pb and Zn in plants and the amount of removal by plant uptake were significantly higher than those without S. Under the treatment of S 160, the highest CaCl 2-extractable Pb and Zn were observed, they were 4.23 mg/kg and 0.40 mg/kg, 2.7 and 2.0 times as that of the control(S 0) respectively. At the highest rates of S(S 160), both Indian mustard and winter wheat reached the highest uptake of Pb and Zn. The highest Pb concentrations in wheat and Indian mustard were 32.8 mg/kg and 537.0 mg/kg, all 1.8 times as that of the control, and the highest Zn concentrations in wheat and Indian mustard were 215.5 mg/kg and 404.0 mg/kg, 2.4 and 2.0 times as that of the control respectively. The highest removals of Pb and Zn from the contaminated soil were 0.41 mg/pot and 0.31 mg/pot by Indian mustard in the treatment of S 160 through 50 days growth.
