Molecular mechanism for the unusual enhancement of the second-step chemiluminescence production from the carcinogenic tetrabromohydroquinone and H2O_(2)

We have found recently that two-step intrinsic hydroxyl radical(·OH)-dependent chemiluminescence(CL)could be produced by carcinogenic tetrahaloquinone and H_(2)O_(2).However,the first-step CL was too fast to clearly detect the stepwise generation of·OH and CL,and to distinguish the exact dividing point between the first-step and second-step *** we found that,extremely clear two-step intrinsic CL could be produced by the relative slow reaction of tetrabromohydroquinone(TBHQ)with H_(2)O_(2),which was directly dependent on the two-step·OH ***,the second-step,but not the first-step CL production of TBHQ/H_(2)O_(2)(CRET donor)was markedly enhanced by fluorescein(a typical xanthene dye,CRET acceptor)through a unique chemiluminescence resonance energy transfer(CRET)*** novel CRET system of TBHQ/H_(2)O_(2)/fluorescein was successfully applied for the sensitive detection of TBHQ with the detection limit as low as 2.5μmol/*** findings will help to develop more sensitive and highly efficient CL or CRET systems and specific CL sensor to detect the carcinogenic haloquinones,which may have broad environmental applications.

The progression of ulcerative colitis(UC)is associated with immunologic derangement,intestinal hemorrhage,and microbiota *** traditional medications mainly focus on mitigating inflammation,it remains challenging to address multiple ***,a versatile gas-propelled nanomotor was constructed by mild fusion of post-ultrasonic CaO_(2) nanospheres with Cu_(2)O *** resulting CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O possessed a desirable diameter(291.3 nm)and a uniform size *** could be efficiently internalized by colonic epithelial cells and macrophages,scavenge intracellular reactive oxygen/nitrogen species,and alleviate immune reactions by pro-polarizing macrophages to the anti-inflammatory M2 *** nanomotor was found to penetrate through the mucus barrier and accumulate in the colitis mucosa due to the driving force of the generated oxygen *** administration of CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O could stanch the bleeding,repair the disrupted colonic epithelial layer,and reduce the inflammatory responses through its interaction with the genes relevant to blood coagulation,anti-oxidation,wound healing,and ***,it restored intestinal microbiota balance by elevating the proportions of beneficial bacteria(e.g.,Odoribacter and Bifidobacterium)and decreasing the abundances of harmful bacteria(e.g.,Prevotellaceae and Helicobacter).Our gas-driven CaO_(2)–Cu_(2)O offers a promising therapeutic platform for robust treatment of UC via the rectal route.

Full-spectrum phosphor-converted white-light-emitting diodes(pc-WLED)are emerging as a mainstream technology in semiconductor ***,high-performance blue phosphor which can be excited efficiently by a 400 nm NUV diode chip is still ***,we present a blue-emitting Na_(3)KMg_(7)(PO_(4))6:Eu^(2+)phosphor synthesized by the solid-reaction ***,we find that the using of Li_(2)CO_(3)as flux can significantly improve the crystal quality and thus the emission efficiency of the ***,the excitation peak of the phosphor shifts from 365 to 400 nm,which is pivotal for efficient NUV(400 nm)diode chip *** practical Eu^(2+)concentration is also enhanced by using Li_(2)CO_(3)as flux,and the absorption efficiency is greatly *** phosphor exhibits superior PL thermal stability,namely retains 94%integrated photoluminescence intensity at 150℃of that at 25℃.As a result,the optimized phosphor shows an emission band peaked at 437 nm with a bandwidth of 40 nm and a high external photoluminescence quantum yield of 51.7%.Finally,a pc-WLED was fabricated by using NKMPO:Eu^(2+)blue,Sr_(2)SiO_(4):Eu^(2+)green,CaAlSiN_(3):Eu^(2+)red phosphors,and a 400 nm NUV diode *** shows a high color rendering index of R_(a)=96.4 and a correlated color temperature of 4358 *** results prove that NKMPO:Eu^(2+)is a promising blue phosphor for full-spectrum WLED based on NUV diode chips.

The hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal(HPA) axis is a critical component of the neuroendocrine system,playing a central role in regulating the body's stress response and modulating various physiological processes. Dysregulation of HPA axis function disrupts the neuroendocrine equilibrium, resulting in impaired physiological functions. Acupuncture is recognized as a non-pharmacological type of therapy which has been confirmed to play an important role in modulating the HPA axis and thus favorably targets diseases with abnormal activation of the HPA axis. With numerous studies reporting the promising efficacy of acupuncture for neuroendocrine disorders, a comprehensive review in terms of the underlying molecular mechanism for acupuncture, especially in regulating the HPA axis, is currently in need. This review fills the need and summarizes recent breakthroughs, from the basic principles and the pathological changes of HPA axis dysfunction, to the molecular mechanisms by which acupuncture regulates the HPA axis. These mechanisms include the modulation of multiple neurotransmitters and their receptors, neuropeptides and their receptors, and microRNAs in the paraventricular nucleus,hippocampus, amygdala and pituitary gland, which alleviate the hyperfunctioning of the HPA *** review comprehensively summarizes the mechanism of acupuncture in regulating HPA axis dysfunction for the first time, providing new targets and prospects for further exploration of acupuncture.

X-ray excited photodynamic therapy(X-PDT)is the bravo answer of photodynamic therapy(PDT)for deep-seated tumors,as it employs X-ray as the irradiation source to overcome the limitation of light penetration ***,high X-ray irradiation dose caused organ lesions and side effects became the major barrier to X-PDT *** address this issue,this work employed a classic-al co-precipitation reaction to synthesize NaLuF_(4):15%Tb^(3+)(NLF)with an average particle size of(23.48±0.91)nm,which was then coupled with the photosensitizer merocyanine 540(MC540)to form the X-PDT system NLF-MC540 with high production of singlet *** system could induce antitumor efficacy to about 24%in relative low dose X-ray irradiation range(0.1-0.3 Gy).In vivo,when NLF-MC540 irradiated by 0.1 Gy X-ray,the tumor inhibition percentage reached 89.5%±5.7%.The therapeutic mechanism of low dose X-PDT was found.A significant increase of neutrophils in serum was found on the third day after *** immunohistochemical staining of tumor sections,the Ly6G^(+),CD8^(+),and CD11c^(+)cells infiltrated in the tumor microenvironment were *** the bilat-eral tumor model,the NLF-MC540 with 0.1 Gy X-ray irradiation could inhibit both the primary tumor and the distant tumor ***-tected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),two cytokines IFN-γand TNF-αin serum were upregulated 7 and 6 times than negative control,*** by enzyme linked immune spot assay(ELISPOT),the number of immune cells attributable to the IFN-γand TNF-αlevels in the group of low dose X-PDT were 14 and 6 times greater than that in the negative control group,***,it conclude that low dose X-PDT system could successfully upregulate the levels of immune cells,stimulate the secretion of cy-tokines(especially IFN-γand TNF-α),activate antitumor immunity,and finally inhibit colon tumor growth.

Lanthanide(Ln^(3+))based ferroelectric phosphors,with an integration of PL emission and ferroelectric effect,are unveiling an exciting realm of possibilities for multifunctional ferroelectric-optic ***,how the ferroelectric host enables the tuning on the PL emissions through modulating the local structure(e.g.,lattice site,symmetry,strains etc.)of the Ln^(3+)activator is not established *** this work,a luminescent-ferroelectric material,***^(3+)doped BaTiO_(3) ceramic(Ba_(1–x)Dy_(x)TiO_(3)(x=0–0.07),abbr:BTO:Dy^(3+)),was explored to address the aforementioned *** BTO:Dy^(3+)ceramics were synthesized by a solid-state reaction *** crystal structure,photoluminescence(PL)and electric properties(dielectric constant,ferroelectric hysteresis and piezoelectric hysteresis loop)were systematically *** BTO:Dy^(3+)ceramics show two predominant emission peaks,corresponding to the blue magnetic dipole transition(477 nm,4F_(7/2)→6H_(15/2))and yellow electric dipole transition(573 nm,4F_(7/2)→6H_(13/2)),the intensity ration of which can be modulated by the ferroelectric polarization that causes the slight lattice *** a polarization-emission modulation combining with the Dy3+doping could accelerate the color change,from yellow to blue,which is characterized to detect the phase transition,with a method and mechanism were proposed,that is,the phase change is reflected by the PL characteristic peak intensity ***,the current results offer a convenient photoluminescence method for detecting the ferroelectric phase transition and a feasible approach to study the interaction between the photoluminescence and polarization in ferroelectric materials,for providing new insights for the development of multifunctional materials.
