Background:Physical inactivity is a major public health problem worldwide that results in physical and mental health *** major issue for physical inactivity is weight stigma(WS),especially perceived WS,which could lead to a tendency to avoid physical activity(PA).To better understand the association between perceived WS and PA,knowledge of the likely mediators in this association such as weight bias internalization(WBI)and psychological distress were investigated in the present ***:Using a two-wave longitudinal study and convenient sampling,388 Taiwan residents participants(55%females;mean age=29.7 years[SD±6.3])completed two surveys six months *** mass index(BMI),Perceived Weight Stigma Scale(PWSS),Weight Bias Internalization Scale(WBIS),Depression,Anxiety,Stress Scale(DASS-21),and Tendency to Avoid Physical Activity and Sport Scale(TAPAS)were ***:A mediation model controlling for age,gender,and BMI with 5000 bootstrapping resamples was *** WS exerted significant direct effects on WBI(β=0.25;p<0.001),psychological distress(β=0.15;p=0.003),and tendency to avoid PA(β=0.10;p=0.027);WBI exerted a significant direct effect on tendency to avoid PA(β=0.47;p<0.001).Standardized indirect effects of WBI and psychological distress on the association between perceived WS and tendency to avoid PA were 0.12 and 0.01,***:Given the direct association of perceived WS on the tendency to avoid PA and the mediating role of WBI in this association,interventions addressing perceived WS and WBI may contribute to promoting ***,health interventionists(both when planning and executing PA programs)need to consider weight stigmawhen encouraging physical activity.

Incidence and predictors of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients receiving low-dose aspirin for secondary prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease

AIM： The use of low-dose aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease events is well established. However, the incidence and predictors of upper gastrointestinal bleeding （UGIB） with its use are unknown. We studied prospectively the incidence and outcome of peptic ulceration in low-dose aspirin users. METHODS： A total of 991 patients with coronary artery disease （CAD） on low-dose aspirin were prospectively followed-up for two years for the occurrence and clinical features of first hospitalized episode of UGIB. RESULTS： UGIB had a bimodal presentation with 45% occurring within four months of aspirin initiation and had an overall prevalence of 1.5% per year. There was no UGIB-related death. Hypertension （OR = 4.6, 95%CI 1.5 - 14.7, P = 0.009）, history of peptic ulceration （OR = 3.1, 95%CI 1.1 - 9.0, P = 0.039）, tertiary education （OR = 3.08, 95%CI 1.1 - 9.0, P = 0.039） and higher lean body mass （P = 0.016） were independent factors associated with UGIB. Use of nitrate did not reduce UGIB. CONCLUSION： The incidence of UGIB in patients with CAD on long-term low-dose aspirin is low, but is accompanied with significant morbidity. With prolonged use of aspirin, UGIB continues to be a problem for those with risk factors and especially in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, in which UGIB tends to occur early after aspirin therapy.

＜正＞The role of serotonin （5 - hydroxytryptamine, 5 - HT） on the regulation of blood stem cell proliferation and thrombopoiesis has not been recognized until 1996, when we reported that serotonin has a mitogenic effect on murine megakaryocytopoiesis via 5 - HT2 receptors （Yang et al, Blood Coagul Fibrin 1996）. Our study also indicated that the uptake ability of serotonin is well established in human megakaryoblasts （Yang et al, Int J Hematol, 1996）. 5 - HT 2A, 2B and 2C receptors were identified on human megakaryocytes and serotonin also promoted human megakaryocytopoiesis via these receptors （Yang et al, Blood, 2001;2002 suppl）. Differing coping mechanisms, stress level and anorectal physiology in patients with functional constipation

AIM: To investigate coping mechanisms, constipation symptoms and anorectal physiology in 80 constipated subjects and 18 ***: Constipation was diagnosed by Rome Ⅱ *** ability and anxiety/depression were assessed by validated questionnaires. Transit time and balloon distension test were ***: 34.5% patients were classified as slow transit type of constipation. The total colonic transit time (56 h vs 10 h, P＜0.0001) and rectal sensation including urge sensation (79 mL vs 63 mL, P = 0.019) and maximum tolerable volume (110 mL vs95 mL, P = 0.03) differed in patients and controls. Constipated subjects had significantly higher anxiety and depression scores and lower SF-36 scores in all categories. They also demonstrated higher scores of'monitoring' coping strategy (14+6 vs9+3, P = 0.001),which correlated with the rectal distension sensation (P = 0.005), urge sensation (P=0.002), and maximum tolerable volume (P = 0.035). The less use of blunting strategy predicted slow transit constipation in both univariate (P = 0.01) and multivariate analysis (P = 0.03).CONCLUSION: Defective or ineffective use of coping strategies may be an important etiology in functional constipation and subsequently reflected in abnormal anorectal physiology.

Lycium barbarum, a traditional Chinese anti-aging herb, has been shown to protect retinal ganglion cells （RGCs） in a rat chronic ocular hypertension （COH） model. Here, we investigated the expression of endothelin-1 （ET-1）, a strong vasoconstrictor, and its receptors, ETA and ETB, in the COH model and assessed the effects of Lycium barbarum on the ET-1 axis. Elevated intraocular pressure （IOP） was induced in the right eye of SD rats using argon laser photocoagulation. （1） The expression of ET-1, ETA and ETB in normal and COH retinas was studied. （2） Some COH rats were fed daily with Lycium barbarum Polysaccharides （LBP） using 1 mg/kg or phosphate-buffered saline （PBS） for 3 weeks （started 1 week before photocoagulation）. The effects of LBP on the expression of ET-1 and its receptors, ETA and ETB, in COH retina were evaluated. A semi-quantitative analysis of staining intensity was used to evaluate the expression levels of ET-1, ETA and ETB in retinal vasculature. We found that （1） Under COH condition, the immunoreactivity of ET-1 was increased in retina associated with an increase of ETB receptor immunoreactivity and a decrease of ETA receptor immunoreactivity. （2） After feeding COH rats with LBP, the expression of ET-1 was decreased with an increase of ETA expression and a decrease of ETB expression in the retina, especially in RGCs. （3） By comparing the staining intensity in the vasculature of COH retina in LBP-fed group with PBS-fed group, there was a decrease in the expression of ET-1 and ETA and an increase in ETB. In summary, ET-1 expression was up-regulated in the retina in COH model. LBP could decrease the expression of ET-1 and modulate the expression of its receptors, ETA and ETB, under the condition of COH. The neuroprotective effect of LBP on RGCs might be related to its ability to regulate the ET-1-mediated biological effects on RGCs and retinal vasculature.

Rapid detection and quantification of outer membrane vesicle(OMV)are of both scientific value and clinical ***,limited tools are available for investigations of ***,we report a novel fluorescent probe with aggregation-induced emission(AIE)characteristics,namely,OEO-TPE-MEM(OTM),for OMV *** emits faintly in an aqueous medium,but its fluorescence could be effectively turned on upon interacting with bacteria bodies and OMVs produced by Gram-negative ***,OTM could provide quantitative information on bacterial membrane remodeling and OMV secretion and be applied to high-throughput screening of OMV-inducing *** study presents a powerful AIE probe for imaging and quantitative analysis of bacteria envelop and derived OMVs,which might be applied for evaluating research and clinical antimicrobial materials in future studies.

略論先秦經史中王權與神權的關係——兼論《易》之後出與六經的次序問題

本文根據先秦經史及相關的典籍資料,論述上古南北統一戰争與王權、神權諸問題。指出自五帝以來,王權高於神權的歷史事實。同時論述在南北統一戰争的過程中,北方華夏政權認識到若欲兼併南方及統一王權,必先統一神權,故封祝融爲南方最高的神職官員,以及在南方實行“絶地天通”等一切舉措,都是爲了達到此一目的。也正因爲《易·卦》可卜知“天命”,事涉王權,故西周時期《易》隸於禮官,爲王室所獨秘;直至東周王室衰微,禮壞樂崩,《易》始流行於社會。因此,《易》由於後出,故在先秦六經中排序較後,這符合中國經學史發展的實際情況。本文同時還對《易》於漢代之所以成爲顯學,以及先秦六經次序爲什麼被人爲改變的歷史原因予以考證。
