Human immunode.icie.cy virus (HIV), he.atitis B virus (HBV) and He.atitis C virus (HCV) infe.tions have.be.n a major public he.lth proble.. HIV patie.ts with HBV and HCV infe.tion are.at high risk of live. dise.se. which is associate. with incre.se. mortality. This study aims at de.e.mining the.pre.ale.ce.of he.atitis B surface.antige. (HBsAg), HCV antibodie. and HBV antibodie. (anti-HBsAg) among HIV se.opositive.adults atte.ding care.and tre.tme.t clinic at Se.ge.e.a district hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania. A cross-se.tional hospital base. study was conducte. be.we.n Fe.ruary and March 2017 among 243 HIV adult patie.ts at Se.ge.e.a de.ignate. district hospital, Mwanza, Tanzania. Socio-de.ographic and othe. re.e.ant information we.e.colle.te. using pre.te.te. que.tionnaire.. De.e.tion of HBsAg and HCV antibodie. was done.by comme.cial rapid immunochromatographic te.t while.the.de.e.tion of anti-HBsAg was done.using e.zyme.linke. immunosorbe.t assay. Data we.e.analyze. by using STATA ve.sion 13. The.me.ian age.of the.study participants was 43, inte.quartile.range.(IQR): 37 - 51 ye.rs. The.majority 172 (70.8) of study participants we.e.fe.ale.and the.majority (88%) of participants had CD4 count of gre.te. than 200 counts/μl. The.pre.ale.ce.of HBsAg, HCV antibodie. and anti-HBsAg we.e.26/243 (10.7%, 95% confide.ce.inte.val [CI]: 7 - 14), 20/243 (8.2%, 95% CI: 4.7 - 11.6) and (100/243) 41.2%, 95% CI: 35 - 47, re.pe.tive.y. Co-infe.tion with HCV (OR: 4.45, 95% CI: 1.51 - 13.21, P = 0.007) was inde.e.de.lty found to pre.ict HbsAg positivity. History of blood transfusion (OR: 2.34, 95% CI: 1.08 - 5.06, P = 0.028) was significantly associate. with anti-HBsAg among HIV infe.te. individuals while. the.rate.of anti-HBsAg was found to de.re.se.by 2.02 IU/L in a ye.r incre.se.in age. About one.te.th of HIV infe.te. individuals are.co-infe.te. with HCV and HBV with more.than one.third be.ng positive.for anti-HBsAg.
