The influence of resistance exercise training prescription variables on skeletal muscle mass,strength,and physical function in healthy adults:An umbrella review

Purpose:The aim of this umbrella review was to determine the impact of resistance training(RT)and individual RT prescription variables on muscle mass,strength,and physical function in healthy ***:Following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines,we systematically searched and screened eligible systematic reviews reporting the effects of differing RT prescription variables on muscle mass(or its proxies),strength,and/or physical function in healthy adults aged>18 ***:We identified 44 systematic reviews that met our inclusion *** methodological quality of these reviews was assessed using A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews;standardized effectiveness statements were *** found that RT was consistently a potent stimulus for increasing skeletal muscle mass(4/4 reviews provide some or sufficient evidence),strength(4/6 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),and physical function(1/1 review provided some evidence).RT load(6/8 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),weekly frequency(2/4 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),volume(3/7 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence),and exercise order(1/1 review provided some evidence)impacted RT-induced increases in muscular *** discovered that 2/3 reviews provided some or sufficient evidence that RT volume and contraction velocity influenced skeletal muscle mass,while 4/7 reviews provided insufficient evidence in favor of RT load impacting skeletal muscle *** was insufficient evidence to conclude that time of day,periodization,inter-set rest,set configuration,set end point,contraction velocity/time under tension,or exercise order(only pertaining to hypertrophy)influenced skeletal muscle adaptations.A paucity of data limited insights into the impact of RT prescription variables on physical ***:Overall,RT increased muscle mass,strength,and physical function compared to no ***

The complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for ^(6)li+^(209)Bi were measured using the in-beamγ-ray method around the coulomb *** cross sections of(deuteron captured)incomplete fusion(IcF)products were re-quantified experimentally for this reaction *** results reveal that the IcF cross section is equivalent to that of complete fusion(cF)above the coulomb barrier and dominant near or below the coulomb barrier.A theoretical calculation based on the continuum discretized coupled channel(cDcc)method was performed for the aforementioned cF and IcF cross sections;the result is consistent with the *** universal fusion function(UFF)was also compared with the measured cF cross section for different barrier parameters,demonstrating that the cF suppression factor is significantly influenced by the choice of potential,which can reflect both dynamic and static effects of breakup on the fusion process.

A single degenerated primer significantly improves cOX1 barcoding performance in soil nematode community profiling

A new cOX1 primer for soil nematode metabarcoding was designed,and this primer outperforms other commonly used cOX1 primer pairs in species recovery and quantity of PcR products.•The lack of reference database is the main reason that led to the low species recovery in cOX1 metabarcoding.•We expanded current NcBI database by adding 51 newly generated cOX1 reference *** nematodes play important roles in soil ecosystems and often serve as bioindicators of soil *** identification of soil nematodes is often difficult due to their limited diagnostic characters and high phenotypic *** barcoding and metabarcoding techniques are promising but lack universal primers,especially for mitochondrial cOX1 *** this study a degenerated cOX1 forward primer cOIFGED was *** primer pair(cOIFGED/JB5GED)outperforms other four commonly used cOX1 primer pairs in species recovery and quantity of polymerase chain reaction(PcR)*** metabarcoding analysis,the reads obtained from the new primer pair had the highest sequencing saturation threshold and amplicon sequence variant(ASV)diversity in comparison to other cOX1 as well as 18S rRNA *** annotation of ASVs suggested the new primer pair initially recovered 9 and 6 out of 25 genera from mock communities,respectively,outperformed other cOX1 primers,but underperformed the widely used 18S NF1/18Sr2b primers(16 out of 25 genera).By supplementing the cOX1 database with our reference sequences,we recovered an additional 6 mock community species bringing the tally closer to that obtained with 18S *** summary,our newly designed cOX1 primers significantly improved species recovery and thus can be supplementary or alternative to the conventional 18S metabarcoding.

Proteomic mechanism of Bacillus cereus endospore against plasma-activated water(PAW)

Plasma-activated water (PAW) indicated promising potential in controlling the biological contamination of Bacillus cereus， which eliminated its evolutionary endospore that improves its survival ability. However， the spore inactivation mechanism by PAW at molecular level was not well understood. The mechanism of the Bacillus cereus endospore against PAW at proteomic levels was demonstrated. The Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) labeling was performed. By comparing the treatment groups with control (including PAW and PAW added superoxide dismutase (SOD)) ， the expression of 251 proteins (with the number of 207 up- and 44 down-regulated) and 379 proteins (with the corresponding number of 238 and 141) were drastically affected， separately. The six categories based on the protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks included oxidation-reduction， transport， sporulation and DNA topological change， gene expression， metabolism， and others. The three dehydrogenases (Gene hisD， Bc＿2176， and asd) in PAW while oxidoreductase (Gene Bc＿0399 and Bc＿2529) in SOD were activated to maintain the antioxidation of spores. The proteins (Bc＿4271 and Bc＿2655) in SOD were dramatically activated， which were involved in the carbohydrate， amino acid， and energy-coupling transport. All the small， acid-soluble spore proteins were activated in both groups to protect the spores’ DNA. In SOD， genes metG2 and rpmc also were considered important factors in translation while this role was played in gene groES but not rpmF in PAW. The PAW activated the biogenesis of cell wall/membrane/envelope and phosphorelay signal transduction system to contribute to the survival of spores whereas the SOD damaged these two processes as well as cell division， chromosome separation， organic acid phosphorylation， base- and nucleotide-excision repair to lead to the death of spores. This would promise to lay the foundation for advancing the study of the intrinsic mechanism of spore killing against PAW and can also provide a reference f
