Black soldier fly larvae(Hermetia illucens)receive grow.ng interest as a potential alternative animal feed *** insects may be exposed to insecticide residues in the rearing *** study aimed to investigate the effects of six different pyrethroid and organophosphate insecticides on this insect species'*** toxicity of tw."model"substances for each of these classes(cypermethrin;pirimiphosmethyl)w.s quantified,w.th and w.thout the synergist piperonyl butoxide(PBO).Critical effect doses corresponding to 10%yield(CED10)for cypermethrin(0.4 mg/kg)and pirimiphos-methyl(4.8 mg/kg)w.re *** addition of PBO to cypermethrin enhanced its relative potency w.th a factor *** data w.re compared against the relative toxicity of tw. analogue substances in each class(permethrin,deltamethrin;chlorpyrifosmethyl,malathion).Results suggest that exposure to concentrations complying w.th legal limits can cause significant reductions in *** to multiple substances at low.r concentrations resulted in negative additive and synergistic *** the tested substances,deltamethrin w.s most toxic,causing 94%yield at 0.5 mg/*** results suggested that transfer of tested substances to the larval biomass w.s substance-and concentration-specific,but appeared to be correlated to reduced yields and the presence of *** of organophosphates w.s overall low.w.limits in insect biomass(~0.01 mg/kg),high transfer may result in *** is recommended that rearing companies implement low.r contractual thresholds,and that policymakers consider adj.sting legally allow.d maximum residue levels in insect feed.

Background Pediatric post coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)condition(PPCC)is a heterogeneous syndrome,w.ich can significantly affect the daily lives of *** study aimed to identify clinically meaningful phenotypes in children w.th PPCC,to better characterize and treat this *** Participants w.re children w.th physician-diagnosed PPCC,referred to the academic hospital Amsterdam UMC in the Netherlands betw.en November 2021 and March *** factors and information on post-COVID symptoms,comorbidities,and impact on daily life w.re *** clusters w.re identified using an unsupervised and unbiased approach for mixed data *** Analysis of 111 patients(aged 3–18 years)revealed three distinct clusters w.thin *** 1(n=62,median age=15 years)predominantly consisted of girls(74.2%).These patients suffered relatively more from exercise intolerance,dyspnea,and smell *** 2(n=33,median age=13 years)contained patients w.th an even gender distribution(51.5%girls).They suffered from relatively more sleep problems,memory loss,gastrointestinal symptoms,and *** 3(n=16,median age=11 years)had a higher proportion of boys(75.0%),suffered relatively more from fever,had significantly few.r symptoms(median of 5 symptoms compared to 8 and 10 for clusters 1 and 2 respectively),and experienced a low.r impact on daily *** This study identified three distinct clinical PPCC phenotypes,w.th variations in sex,age,symptom patterns,and impact on daily *** findings highlight the need for further research to understand the potentially diverse underlying mechanisms contributing to post-COVID symptoms in children.

A new.higher-order accurate space-time discontinuous Galerkin(DG)method using the interior penalty flux and discontinuous basis functions,both in space and in time,is pre-sented and fully analyzed for the second-order scalar w.ve *** attention is given to the definition of the numerical fluxes since they are crucial for the stability and accuracy of the space-time DG *** theoretical analysis show. that the DG discre-tization is stable and converges in a DG-norm on general unstructured and locally refined meshes,including local refinement in *** space-time interior penalty DG discre-tization does not have a CFL-type restriction for *** order of accuracy is obtained in the DG-norm if the mesh size h and the time stepΔt satisfy h≅CΔt,w.th C a positive *** optimal order of accuracy of the space-time DG discretization in the DG-norm is confirmed by calculations on several model *** calculations also show.that for pth-order tensor product basis functions the convergence rate in the L∞and L2-norms is order p+1 for polynomial orders p=1 and p=3 and order p for polynomial order p=2.

Hepatitis E virus(HEV)infection can cause severe complications and high mortality,particularly in pregnant w.men,organ transplant recipients,individuals w.th pre-existing liver disease and immunosuppressed ***,there are still unmet needs for treating chronic HEV ***,w. screened a best-in-class drug repurposing library consisting of 262 drugs/*** screening,w. identified vidofludimus calcium and pyrazofurin as novel anti-HEV *** calcium is the next-generation dihydroorotate dehydrogenase(DHODH)inhibitor in the phase 3 pipeline to treat autoimmune diseases or SARS-CoV-2 *** selectively targets uridine monophosphate synthetase(UMPS).Their anti-HEV effects w.re further investigated in a range of cell culture models and human liver organoids models w.th w.ld type HEV strains and ribavirin treatment failure-associated HEV ***,both drugs exhibited a sizeable therapeutic w.ndow.against *** instance,the IC50 value of vidofludimus calcium is 4.6–7.6-fold low.r than the current therapeutic doses in ***,their anti-HEV mode of action depends on the blockage of pyrimidine ***,tw. drugs robustly inhibited ribavirin treatment failure-associated HEV mutants(Y1320H,G1634R).Their combination w.th IFN-αresulted in synergistic antiviral *** conclusion,w. identified vidofludimus calcium and pyrazofurin as potent candidates for the treatment of HEV *** on their antiviral potency,and also the favorable safety profile identified in clinical studies,our study supports the initiation of clinical studies to repurpose these drugs for treating chronic hepatitis E.

The present w.rk analyses the total free energy of the material during the martensitic transformation. A general expression for the martensite fraction as a function of temperature is derived, assuming that the nonchemical free energyis proportional to the volume of martensite. This expression indicates that the temperature-dependent martensitefraction can be predicted once the characteristic transformation temperatures and the relation betw.en the chemicalfree energy and temperature of the martensite and austenite are know.. An advantage of this development is thatthe proposed equation is valid for all types of relations betw.en the chemical free energy and temperature. Thissimulation is successfully applied to the martensitic transformation upon further cooling of retained austenite in alow.alloyed TRIP steel, in w.ich the relation betw.en chemical free energy and temperature is quadratic and thefraction is determined from a thermo-magnetic measurement.

This paper describes the effects that temperature changes in the Rhine river distributaries have on native and exotic fish diversity. Site-specific potentially affected fractions （PAFs） of the regional fish species pool w.re derived using species sensitivity distributions （SSDs） for w.ter temperature. The number of fish species in the river distributaries has changed remarkably over the last century. The number of native rheophilous species declined up until 1980 due to anthropogenic disturbances such as commercial fishing, fiver regulation, migration barriers, habitat deterioration and w.ter pollution. In spite of progress in river re- habilitation, the native rheophilous fish fauna has only partially recovered thus far. The total number of species has strongly in- creased due to the appearance of more exotic species. After the opening of the Rhine-Main-Danube w.terw.y in 1992, many fish species originating from the Ponto-Caspian area colonized the Rhine basin. The yearly minimum and maximum river tempera- tures at Lobith have increased by circa 4 ~C over the period 1908-2010. Exotic species show.low.r PAFs than native species at both ends of the temperature range. The interspecific variation in the temperature tolerance of exotic fish species w.s found to be large. Using temporal trends in river temperature allow.d past predictions of PAFs to demonstrate that the increase in maximum river temperature negatively affected a higher percentage of native fish species than exotic species. Our results support the hy- pothesis that alterations of the river Rhine＇s temperature regime caused by thermal pollution and global w.nning limit the full recovery of native fish fauna and facilitate the establishment of exotic species w.ich thereby increases competition betw.en native and exotic species. Thermal refuges are important for the survival of native fish species under extreme summer or w.nter temperature conditions
