Glyoxylat. reduct.se （GLYR） is a key enzyme in plant.met.bolism which cat.lyzes t.e det.xificat.on of bot. phot.respirat.ry glyoxylat. and succinic semialdehdye, an int.rmediat. of t.e γ-aminobut.rat. （GABA） pat.way. t.o isoforms of GLYR exist.in plant., GLYR1 and GLYR2, and while GLYR2 is known t. be localized in plast.ds, GLYR1 has been report.d t. be localized in eit.er peroxisomes or t.e cyt.sol. Here, we reappraised t.e int.acellular localizat.on of GLYR1 in Arabidopsis t.aliana L. Heynh （ecot.pe Lansberg erect.） using bot. t.ansient.y-t.ansformed suspension cells and st.bly-t.ansformed plant., in combinat.on wit. fluorescence microscopy. t.e result. indicat. t.at.GLYR1 is localized exclusively t. t.e cyt.sol regardless of t.e species, t.ssue and/or cell t.pe, or exposure of plant. t. environment.l st.esses t.at.would increase flux t.rough t.e GABA pat.way.
