novel nd^(3+)/Yb^(3+)co-doped sodium calcium silicate glasses were prepared by melting quenching method:spectroscopic study was carried out as a function of doping content by fixing sensitizer(nd^(3+))concentration to 0.2 mol%and adjusting activator(Yb^(3+))from 0 to 1.0 mol%.The energy transfer(ET)mechanisms between nd^(3+)and Yb^(3+)are discussed based on their energy levels and excitation powerdependence emission *** show that the presence of Yb^(2+)might be considered for the nd^(3+)-free and co-doped *** ET was confirmed by the down-conversion nIR emission spectra of the doped and co-doped samples under excitation at 808 *** mechanisms observed seem to involve only one vIs absorbed photon for each nIR emitted via direct energy transfer between^(4)F_(3/2)of nd^(2+)and^(2)F_(5/2)of Yb^(3+)compensated by phonon assistance due to energy gap between these *** efficiency of ET increases with the ytterbium content up to almost 90%for the sample with 1 mol%of Yb2O3,which was evaluated by lifetime ***-conversion photoluminescence by exciting trivalent ions of neodymium(808 nm)and ytterbium(975 nm)is *** observed up-converted emission bands are related to the 4f-4f transitions of nd^(3+)and the spin-forbidden 5d-4f transition of Yb^(2+).nd^(3+)upconversion emission is observed under 975 nm excitation,presenting an almost quadratic emission dependence with power excitation,which suggests that two laser photons participate in the up-conversion(UC)process,showing that ET occurs by a phonon-assisted energy transfer and cooperative energy transfer.

performance of inclined pillars with a major discontinuity

Discontinuities are an inherent part of the rock mass and majorly affect the stability of the excavation skin and *** dip of the discontinuities and their properties also have a significant effect on the strength of the *** approaches are commonly used to determine the pillar strength but can overestimate the strength and don’t consider the inclination of the pillars and the strength reduction caused by *** modeling is a powerful tool and if calibrated can be used to evaluate the strength of the pillars with discontinuities having a range of *** effect of a discontinuity on inclined pillars was conducted which has been seldom considered in evaluating the pillar ***-dimensional vertical pillars were simulated,and the pillar strength was calibrated to accepted theoretical results and then the discontinuities were introduced in different pillar inclinations with distinct width to height ratios to gain an insight into the effective pillar strength *** upon the results,it was found that the discontinuities have a significant effect with the increase in the inclination of the pillars even at a higher width to height ratios.

X-ray absorption near-edge structure(XAnEs)spectra are the fingerprint of the local atomic and electronic structures around the absorbing ***,the quantitative analysis of these spectra is not *** with the most recent advances in this area,for a given spectrum,it is not clear a priori which structural parameters can be refined and how uncertainties should be ***,we present an alternative concept for the analysis of XAnEs spectra,which is based on machine learning algorithms and establishes the relationship between intuitive descriptors of spectra,such as edge position,intensities,positions,and curvatures of minima and maxima on the one hand,and those related to the local atomic and electronic structure which are the coordination numbers,bond distances and angles and oxidation state on the other *** approach overcoms the problem of the systematic difference between theoretical and experimental ***,the numerical relations can be expressed in analytical formulas providing a simple and fast tool to extract structural parameters based on the spectral *** methodology was successfully applied to experimental data for the multicomponent Fe:siO_(2)system and reference iron compounds,demonstrating the high prediction quality for both the theoretical validation sets and experimental data.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAs Collaboration,using √s=13 Tev proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAs *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 Gev and 2 Tev and for multiple tagger working points.

The article presents results of the computer simulation of quenching large-size parts in water and aqueous solutions. It has been shown that the main attention should be paid to eliminating film boiling and providing uniform cooling at the surface of the part to be quenched. simplified formulas for calculating the optimal time of cooling large-size steel parts are presented.

Mechanical performance of rock bolts under combined load conditions

Rock bolts are subjected to different loading conditions along their lengths such as axial,bending,and/or shear forces,which can cause failure at lower loads than those considered for design *** common existing methodologies do not consider the actual loading of the rock bolts and assume it is only pure axial or pure *** study was conducted to investigate the un-grouted rock bolt performance under combined load *** loading regimes were evaluated:the effect of initial shear displacement on axial load capacity and displacement,and the effect of axial displacement on the shear load *** first regime was also conducted for shear with a gap,when there is a spacing between the shear *** results of this study showed that the rock bolt can resist higher axial loads than shear under pure or combined load *** combined load conditions,the rock bolt capacity decreased significantly for both ***,when applying the shear load with a gap,the rock bolt load capacity was not affected ***,the total bar deformation was improved for shear and *** findings of this study show the need to improve the rock bolt design considering the complex loading conditions in situ with/without a gap.

Energy conditions of the f(T,B) gravity dark energy model with the validity of thermodynamics

In this article, the analysis of Tsallis holographic dark energy(which turns into holographic dark energy for a particular choice of positive non-additivity parameter δ) in modified f(T, B) gravity with the validity of thermodynamics and energy conditions for a homogeneous and isotropic FLRW Universe has been studied. The enlightenment of the field equation towards f(T,B)=αT^m+βB^n, made possible by the fact that the model is purely accelerating,corresponds to q=-0.54(Mamon and Das 2017 Eur. phys.j.C 77 49). The generalized second law of thermodynamics is valid not only for the same temperature inside the horizon, but also for the apparent horizon for a change in temperature. The essential inspiration driving this article is to exhibit the applicability that the holographic dark energy achieved from standard Tsallis holographic dark energy and the components acquired from f(T, B) gravity are identical for the specific bounty of constants. The analysis of energy conditions confirms that the weak energy condition and the null energy condition are fulfilled throughout the expansion, while violation of the strong energy condition validates the accelerated expansion of the *** the expansion, the model becomes a quintessence dominated model. The dominant energy condition is not observed initially when the model is filled with genuine baryonic matter,whereas it appears when the model is in the quintessence dominated era.

Decoupling the role of chemistry and microstructure in hMsCs response to an osteoinductive calcium phosphate ceramic

Calcium phosphates(Cap)are widely used synthetic bone graft substitutes,having bioactivity that is regulated by a set of intertwined physico-chemical and structural *** some Caps have shown to be as effective in regenerating large bone defects as autologous bone,there is still the need to understand the role of individual material properties in Cap ***,we aimed to decouple the effects of chemical composition and surface-microstructure of a beta-tricalcium phosphate(TCp)ceramic,with proven osteoinductive potential,on human mesenchymal stromal cells(hMsCs)*** this end,we replicated the surface structure of the TCp ceramic into polylactic acid without inorganic additives,or containing the chemical constituents of the ceramic,i.e.,a calcium salt,a phosphate salt,or TCp *** microstructure of the different materials was characterized by confocal laser *** were cultured on the materials,and the expression of a set of osteogenic genes was *** cell culture medium was collected and the levels of calcium and phosphate ions were quantified by inductively-coupled plasma mass *** results revealed that none of the tested combinations of properties in polymer/composite replicas was as potent in supporting the osteogenic differentiation of hMsCs as the original ***,we observed some effects of the surface structure in the absence of inorganics,as well as combined effects of surface structure and the added salts,in particular calcium,on osteogenic *** approach presented here can be used to study the role of independent properties in other Cap-based biomaterials.

This paper reports a new simple four-dimensional（4 D） hyperjerk chaotic system. The proposed system has only one stable equilibrium point. Hence, its strange attractor belongs to the category of hidden attractors. The proposed system exhibits various dynamical behaviors including chaotic, periodic, stable nature, and coexistence of various attractors. numerous theoretical and numerical methods are used for the analyses of this system. The chaotic behavior of the new system is validated using circuit implementation. Further, the synchronization of the proposed systems is shown by designing an adaptive integrator backstepping controller. numerical simulation validates the synchronization strategy.
