Effect of acoustic pulses and EHF radiation on multipotent marrow stromal cells in tissue engineering constructs

In this paper,we studied the effects of physical factors,such as,acoustic pulses of laser-induced hydrodynamics(ALIH)and extremely-high frequencies(EHF)radiation,on the formation of heterotopic bone marrow organs.A suspension of precipitated bone marrow cells from CBA mice were exposed to ALIH pulses and EHF radiation separately and in their com bination tissue engineering constructs,presenting gelatin sponges 2 by 2 by 2 mm in size containing 10^(7)nucleated bone marrow cells,were exposed to physical factors and were implanted under the renal capsules of syngeneic *** newly formed hematopoietic organs were examined in three and five months later after *** five months old transplants were bigger in size than the three months old *** number of hematopoietic cells in the rest of the groups increased during this period by a factor from 3 to 10,the increase being as high as 20-fold in the:ALH+EHF *** concentration of multipotent stromal cells(MSCs)was in the EHF+ALIH,and minimal concentration was in the ALIH+*** accumulation rate of bone capsule weight was highest for the transplants of EHF+ALIH and ALIH-sponge groups during the first three *** data showed that the combined impact of the EHF+ALIH on MSCs is the most effective for the formation of bone marrow transplantation.

First results of turbulence investigation on Globus-M2 using radial correlation Doppler reflectometry

The first results of investigation of the turbulence structure using Doppler backscattering(DBS)on the Globus-M2 tokamak are presented.A one-channel DBS system with a variable probing frequency within the 18–26 GHz range was installed to investigate the edge plasma at normalized minor radiiρ=0.9–*** correlation Doppler reflectometry was used to study the changes in turbulence eddies after the LH *** analysis was applied to the phase derivative of complex in-phase and quadrature(IQ)signals of the DBS diagnostic as it contains information about the poloidal plasma rotation *** L-mode,the radial correlation length L_(r)is estimated to be 3 cm and after transition to H-mode reduces to approximately 2 *** modelling in a linear local approximation using code GEnE indicates that the instability with positive growth rate at the normalized minor radiusρ=0.75 in L-mode and H-mode on Globus-M2 was the ion temperature gradient(ITG)mode.

near-infrared studies of nova v5584 Sgr in the pre-maximum and early decline phase

We present near-infrared spectroscopic and photometric observations of nova v5584 Sgr taken during the first 12 d following its discovery on Oct. 26.439 UT2009. The evolution of the spectra is shown from the initial p Cygni phase to an emission line phase. The prominent carbon lines seen in the JHK spectra closely match those observed in an Fe II class nova outburst. The spectra show first-overtone CO bands in emission between 2.29-2.40 μm. By examining WISE and other publicly available data, we show that the nova underwent a pronounced dust formation phase between February- April 2010.

Laser-heated diamond-anvil cell (LHDAC) is emerging as the most suitable, economical and versatile tool for the measurement of a large spectrum of physical properties of materials under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. In this review, the recent developments in the instrumentation, pressure and temperature measurement techniques, results of experimental investigations from the literature were discussed. Also, the future scope of the technique in various avenues of science was explored.

Differently synthesized gold nanoparticles respond differently to functionalization with L-amino acids

The potential utility of gold nanoparticles(Aunps)synthesized via different methods for biomedical applications vary greatly due to inherent differences in their surface *** the present study,we investigated the functionalization of Aunps synthesized by chemical reduction,plant extract,and bacteria-mediated methods with 22 L-amino *** produced by bacteria-mediated(B_Aunps)and plant-mediated(p_Aunps)methods showed good potential,as they were able to be functionalized with six(histidine,lysine,methionine,phenylalanine,tryptophan,and tyrosine)and four(cystine,tryptophan,tyrosine,and valine)amino acids,*** contrast,Aunps produced by chemical reduction(C_Aunps)were not found to be suitable for *** functionalization conditions were found to be amino acid concentration of 20-25 mM and neutral pH(7)for p_Aunps,whereas B_Aunps tolerated more variable *** electrophoretic mobility of p_Aunps after functionalization indicated that these nanoparticles were less sensitive than B_Aunps to the deviations from optimal conditions.A significant change in mobility was observed when B_Aunps were functionalized with either methionine or ***,the results of this study suggest that the suitability of the three differently synthesized Aunps with amino acids is in the following order:B_Aunps>p_Aunps>C_Aunps.

Environmental Degradation Behavior of High-velocity Arc Sprayed FeCrBMnSi Alloy Coatings in a Coal Fired Boiler

FeCrBMnSi alloy coating on steel substrate（310S） was fabricated by a high-velocity arc spraying（HvAS） process. Degradation behavior of the coatings at temperatures of 700℃ and 900℃ in air and in the coal fired boiler at（700±10）℃ was studied. X-ray difraction（XRD） and scanning electron microscopy/energydisperse spectroscopy（SEM/EDS） were used to characterize the coating as well as to analyze the corrosion products for elucidating the corrosion *** exhibited dense and globular morphology and the splats were interconnected as evident from SEM analysis. The maximum microhardness of the coating was found to be 630–1060 Hv. The FeCrBMnSi alloy coating has imparted necessary resistance to oxidation and showed good adherence to the 310S substrate during the exposures with no tendency for spallation of its oxide scale.

Quasiparticle structure of superheavy nuclei in α-decay chains of -(285)Fl and -(291,293)Lv

Two mean-field potentials, Woods-Saxon and Skyrme based potentials, are used to calculate the energies of low-lying one-quasiparticle states. The spectra of the low-lying states and the α-decay spectra of nuclei belonging to the α-decay chains of ^285Fl and ^291,293Lv are calculated and compared with the available experimental data. Dependence of the splitting of the pseudospin doublets and of the energies of the unique parity neutron one-quasiparticle states on the mean field potential are discussed. As shown, the α-decay spectra could be different in the α-decay chain and at the direct production of the nucleus in a fusion reaction.

nonlinear-Optical Analogies in nuclear-Like Soliton Reactions:Selection Rules,nonlinear Tunneling and Sub-Barrier Fusion–Fission

The main goal of our study is to reveal unexpected but intriguing analogies arising between optical solitons and nuclear physics,which still remain hidden from *** consider the main cornerstones of the concept of nonlinear optics of nuclear reactions and the well-dressed repulsive-core *** the base of this model,we reveal the most intriguing properties of the nonlinear tunneling of nucleus-like solitons and the soliton selfinduced sub-barrier transparency *** describe novel interesting and stimulating analogies between the interaction of nucleus-like solitons on the repulsive barrier and nuclear sub-barrier *** main finding of this study concerns the conservation of total number of nucleons(or the baryon number)in nuclear-like soliton *** show that inelastic interactions among well-dressed repulsive-core solitons arise only when a“cloud”of“dressing”spectral side-bands appears in the frequency spectra of the *** property of nucleus-like solitons is directly related to the nuclear density distribution described by the dimensionless small shape-squareness *** the Fourier spectra of nucleus-like solitons are similar to the nuclear form *** show that the nuclear-like reactions between well-dressed solitons are realized by“exchange”between“particle-like”side bands in their spectra.
