Environmental fate and health exposures of the geogenic and anthropogenic contaminants in potable groundwater of Lower Ganga Basin,India

The study evaluated the sources and controlling factors of the groundwater contaminants in an agroeconomic region of Lower Ganga Basin using principal component analysis(PCA),multivariable linear regressions(MLR),correlation analysis,and hierarchical cluster analysis,and evaluated the public health risks using the Latin Hypercube Sampling,goodness-of-fit statistics,Monte Carlo simulation and Sobol sensitivity analysis based on the 1000 samples collected in two sampling cycles(N=1000).The study reveals that the dissolution of fluoride-bearing minerals and semi-arid climate regulate the fluoride concentrations(0.10–18.25 mg/L)in *** application of inorganic nitrogenous fertilizers and livestock manure mainly contributed to elevated nitrate levels(up to 435.0 mg/L)in *** health risks analysis indicates that fluoride exposure is more prevalent in the residents of each age group than the nitrate and both contaminants exhibited higher non-carcinogenic health risks on the infant and child(minor)age groups compared to adolescents and *** on the cokriging interpolation mapping,the minor residents of 17.88%–23.15%of the total area(4545.0 km^(2))are vulnerable to methemoglobinemia whereas the residents of all age-groups in 38.47%–44.45%of the total area are susceptible to mild to severe dental/skeletal fluorosis owing to consumption of untreated nitrate and fluoride enriched *** Sobol sensitivity indices revealed contaminant levels,groundwater intake rate and their collective effects are the most influential factors to pose potential health risks on the *** recharge and rainwater harvesting practices should be adopted to improve the groundwater quality and the residents are advised to drink purified groundwater.

Identification of EST–SSRs and molecular diversity analysis in Mentha piperita

EST sequences of Mentha piperita available in the public domain(NCBI) were exploited to develop SSR markers. A total of 1316 ESTs were assembled into 155 contigs and 653 singletons and of these, 110 sequences were found to contain 130 SSRs, with a frequency of1 SSR/3.4 kb. Dinucleotide repeat SSRs were most frequent(72.3%) with the AG/CT(43.8%)repeat motif followed by AT/AT(16.2%). Primers were successfully designed for 68SSR-containing sequences(62.0%). The 68 primers amplified 13 accessions of M. piperita and 54 produced clear amplicons of the expected size. Of these 54, 33(61%) were found to be polymorphic among M. piperita accessions, showing from 2 to 4 alleles with an average of2.33 alleles/SSR, and the polymorphic information content(PIC) value varied between 0.13 and 0.51(average 0.25). All the amplified SSRs showed transferability among four different species of Mentha, with a highest in Mentha arvensis(87.0%) and minimum in Mentha citrata(37.0%). The newly developed SSRs markers were found to be useful for diversity analysis, as they successfully differentiated among species and accessions of Mentha.

Bianchi type-I massive string cosmological model with magnetic field of barotropic perfect fluid distribution through the techniques used by Latelier and Stachel is investigated. To obtain the deterministic model of the universe, it is assumed that the universe is filled with barotropic perfect fluid distribution. The magnetic field is due to electric current produced Mong the x-axis with infinite electrical conduictivity. The behaviour of the model in the presence and absence of magnetic field together with other physical aspects is further discussed.

Polygon clipping is of great importance in computer *** of the popular algorithms to clip a polygon is Cohan–Sutherland Hodgeman algorithm which is based on line ***–Sutherland Hodgeman algorithm clips the polygon against the given rectangular clip window with the help of line clipping ***–Sutherland algorithm requires traversing the polygon in anti clockwise direction(positive orientation).In this work we propose an efficient polygon clipping algorithm against a rectangular clip *** algorithm uses parametric representation of polygon *** the concept of point clipping,we can find required intersection points of edges of polygon with clip window *** suited numerical illustrations are used to explain the proposed polygon clipping *** proposed algorithm is computationally less expensive and comprehensive.

A New High Performance Realization of Hyperchaotic Modified Canonical Chua Circuit Using JFETs

A new implementation of hyperchaotic modified canonical Chua circuit using junction field-effect transistors （JFETs） is proposed. The design is based on a source coupled JFET circuit to approximate a smooth cubic nonlinearity and a two-terminal negative resistance element containing a p-n-p silicon transistor and an n-channel JFET. The realization is supported by Orcad Pspice simulation and numerical MATLAB results. The hyperchaotic nature is confirmed by two positive Lyapunov exponents associated with the attractor which is a fractal with a Lyapunov dimension between 3 and 4.

Owing to the non-collocation of actuators and sensors in a flexible-link manipulator(FLM)it becomes difficult to achieve accurate tip position *** resolve this issue,a vision sensor is used for direct measurement of the tip position instead of employing the traditional mechanical *** the different visual servoing(VS)control schemes,image-based VS(IBVS)is more ***,there are many challenges in the IBVS scheme such as singularities in the interaction matrix and local minima in trajectories that affect the system performance in real-time *** this study,the moment-based new visual feature is selected to address the aforesaid issues that arise in the IBVS ***,a new two-time scale IBVS controller is developed for addressing the tip-tracking control problem of the two-link flexible manipulator(TLFM).In the proposed control scheme,the dynamics of the FLM is decomposed into two-time scale models,namely a slow subsystem and a fast *** performance and robustness of the proposed new two-time scale IBVS controller for TLFM are verified by pursuing simulation *** is observed from the obtained results that the proposed controller effectively stabilises the oscillatory dynamics and tracks the reference trajectory accurately.

Stability of LRS Bianchi type-I cosmological models in f(R,T)-gravity

This paper examines the stability of the transition from the early decelerating stage of the Universe to the recent accelerating stage for the perfect fluid cosmological locally rotationally symmetric(LRS) Bianchi-I model in f(R, T) theory. To determine the solution of field equations, the idea of a timevarying deceleration parameter(DP) which yields a scale factor, for which the Universe attains a phase transition scenario and is consistent with recent cosmological observations, is used. The time-dependent DP yields a scale factor a=exp■, where β and k are respectively arbitrary and integration constants. By using the recent cons_traints(H_0 _= 73.8, and q_0 =-0.54) from Type Ia Supernova(SN Ia) data in combination with Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations(BAO) and Cosmic Microwave Background(CMB) observations(Giostri et al.), we obtain the values of β = 0.0062 and k = 0.000016 for which we have derived a cosmological model from the early decelerated phase to the present accelerating phase. By applying_ other r_ecent constraints(H_0 = 73.8, q_0 =-0.73) from SNe Ia Union data(Cunha), we obtain the values of β = 0.0036 and k = 0.000084 for which we have derived a cosmological model in the accelerating phase only. We have compared both models with experimental data. The stability of the background solution has been examined also for the metric perturbations alongside the properties of future singularities in a Universe ruled by dark energy with phantom type fluid. We demonstrate the presence of a stable fixed point with a condition of state ω <-1 and numerically affirm this is really a late-time attractor in the ghost overwhelmed Universe. Some physical and geometric properties of the model are found and examined.

Sources and implications of particulate organic matter from a small tropical river——Zuari River, India

Transitional ecosystems,estuaries and the coastal seas,are distinctively affected by natural and anthropogenic *** matter(OM)originating from terrestrial sources is exported by rivers and forms a key component of the global biogeochemical *** previous studies focused on the bulk biochemical and anthropogenic aspects affecting these *** the present study,we examined the sources and fate of OM entrained within suspended particulate matter(SPM)of the Zuari River and its estuary,west coast of *** using amino acid(AA)enantiomers(L-and D-forms)as biomarkers,other bulk biochemical parameters *** organic carbon(POC),δ13C,particulate nitrogen(PN),δ15N and chlorophyll a were *** no significant temporal variations were observed in the parameters analyzed;nonetheless,salinity,POC,δ13C,PN,δ15N,glutamic acid,serine,alanine,tyrosine,leucine and D-aspartic acid exhibited significant spatial variability suggesting source *** POC content displayed weak temporal variability with low values observed during the post-monsoon season attributed to inputs from mixed *** samples were less depleted than the riverine samples suggesting contributions from marine plankton in addition to contributions from river plankton and terrestrial C3 plants *** OM was observed during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons in the estuarine *** degraded OM was noticed during the pre-monsoon *** component analysis was used to ascertain the sources and factors influencing *** five factors were extracted explaining 84.52%of the total *** first component accounted for 27.10%of the variance suggesting the dominance of tidal influence whereas,the second component accounted for heterotrophic bacteria and their remnants associated with the particulate matter,contributing primarily to the AA *** on this study we ascertained the role of the estuarine turbidity max

Green Synthesis and Characterization of Gold Nanoparticles Using Onion (<i>Allium cepa</i>) Extract

In the present research program, cost effective and environment friendly gold nanoparticless were synthesized using the onion (Allium cepa) extract as the reducing agent. The nanoparticless were characterized using UV-visble, XRD, and SEM, TEM methods. The absorption peak at 540 nm was found to be broaden with increase in time indicating the polydispersity nature of the nanoparticles. The XRD results suggested that the crystallization of the bio-organic phase occurs on the surface of the gold nanoparticles or vice versa. The broadening of peaks in the XRD patterns was attributed to particle size effects. The internalization of nanoparticles within cells could occur via processes including phagocytosis, fluid-phase endocytosis and receptor mediated endocytosis.

There are several well defined indications for surgical management of humeral shaft *** procedures on the humerus are associated with their own *** brachial artery injury as a complication of humeral shaft plating has not been reported *** report a case of a 48 years old femalewho received operation at a district hospital and was referred to us when the surgeon could not palpate the *** angiogram showed that there was segmental non-opacification of the brachial *** was distal reformation and the thrombosis was decided to be managed *** believe that the arterial injury was a result ofimproper surgical technique and the segmental block might be due to improper use of plate holding *** case report makes us aware of a rare complication of operative management of humeral shaft fractures and that basic principles of surgery must be always followed to prevent such injuries.
