Effect of partial and complete replacement of soybean with discarded cashew nut (Anacardium occidentale L) on liver and stomach histology of Clarias gariepinus (Burchell, 1822)

The need for replacement of highly priced soybean meal(SM)in fish diets with unconventional plant materials has become imperative for the sustainability of aquaculture *** study addressed the effect of replacing SM with discarded cashew nut meal(DCNM)on the liver and stomach histology in African catfish(Clarias gariepinus).Total 90 juveniles(24.83±1.52 g)were fed DCNM based diets,inclusion level of 0,50%and 100%.Fish were fed twice daily(8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)at 5%body weight for 56 *** histology of liver and the stomach were ***-morphological changes of the liver tissue were moderate at 100%DCNM fed fish compared to 50%DCNM and control(0 DCNM).Photomicrograph of stomach of 50%DCNM fed fish showed normal histo-morphological features,while moderate to severe histological distortions were observed in the stomach of 100%DCNM fed *** findings of the present study showed that partial(50%)replacement of SM with DCNM had no adverse nutritional consequence while total(100%)replacement of SM with DCNM in the diet of *** resulted to moderate histological distortions of the liver and stomach.

Perikinetics and sludge study for the decontamination of petroleum produced water(PW) using novel mucuna seed extract

In this study, Mucuna flagellipes seed extract was applied in the coagulation-flocculation of produced water （PW）. Process parameters such as pH, dosage, and settling time were investigated. Process kinetics was also studied. Instrumental characterization of mucuna seed （MS）, mucuna seed coagulant （MSC）, and post effluent treatment settled sludge （PTSS） were carried out. The optimum decontamination efficiency of 95 % was obtained at 1 g/L MSC dosage, PW pH of 2, and rate constant of 0.0001 （L/g/s）. Characterization results indicated that MS, MSC, and PTSS were of network structure, primitive lat- tice, and thermally stable. It could be concluded that MSC would be potential biomass for the treatment of produced water under the experimental conditions.

Adsorptive component of produced water(PW)coagulation using Tympanotonos Fuscatus coagulant(TFC)was *** of the following parameters:pH,coagulant dose,settling time,and temperature were *** functional group,crystalline nature,morphological observation and thermal characteristics of the sample were *** data were analyzed using Langmuir,Freundlich,Temkin,Frumkin,and Dubinin-Radushkevich(D-R)adsorption *** kinetics data were fitted to reversible first order,pseudo-first-order,pseudo-second-order,elovich,intra-particle diffusion and Boyd kinetic *** Gibbs energy,enthalpy and entropy were *** data best fitted the Langmuir isotherm(R^2>0.99;X^2<1.6;SSE<1.6).Reversible first order model correlated best to the kinetics *** values of process average Gibb's free energy,enthalpy and entropy were 30.35,27.88 and 0.1891 kJ/mol,*** process was spontaneous,feasible and endothermic in *** maximum efficiency of 83.1%was favored at pH *** study indicated significant adsorptive component,while using Tympanotonos Fuscatus extract as readily available,renewable,ecofriendly bio e coagulant for efficient treatments of PW.

This study investigated coag-flocculation(using TFC)of PW and characterization of the post treatment settled sludge(PTSS).Effects of dosage,pH and settling time on treatment efficiency were *** and PTSS were subjected to Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),Xeray diffraction(XRD),Thermogravimetric/Differential scanning calorimetric and Scanning electron microscopic(SEM)/Elemental *** treatment efficiency of 91.5%was obtained at 1 g/L and pH *** could be concluded that TFC was thermally stable and has potential for application as an effective bio-coagulant.
