Engineering oxygen vacancy formation and distribution is a powerful route for controlling the oxygen sublattice evolution that affects diverse functional *** controlling of the oxygen vacancy formation process is particularly important for inducing topotactic phase transitions that occur by transformation of the oxygen *** we demonstrate an epitaxial nanocomposite approach for exploring the spatial control of topotactic phase transition from a pristine perovskite phase to an oxygen vacancy-ordered brownmillerite(BM)phase in a model oxide La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_(3)(LSMO).Incorporating a minority phase NiO in LSMO films creates ultrahigh density of vertically aligned epitaxial interfaces that strongly influence the oxygen vacancy formation and distribution in *** structural characterizations reveal strong interactions between NiO and LSMO across the epitaxial interfaces leading to a topotactic phase transition in LSMO accompanied by significant morphology evolution in *** the NiO nominal ratio as a single control parameter,we obtain intermediate topotactic nanostructures with distinct distribution of the transformed LSMO-BM phase,which enables systematic tuning of magnetic and electrical transport *** use of self-assembled heterostructure interfaces by the epitaxial nanocomposite platform enables more versatile design of topotactic phase structures and correlated functionalities that are sensitive to oxygen vacancies.

Linear Global Temperature Correlation to Carbon Dioxide Level, Sea Level, and Innovative Solutions to a Projected 6°C Warming by 2100

Too many climate committees, conferences, articles and publications continue to suggest a one and a half (1.5°C) to two degrees (2°C) Celsius as an achievable global limit to climate changes without establishment of any causal link to the proposed anti-warming mechanism. A comprehensive review has found instead that observationally informed projections of climate science underlying climate change offer a different outlook of five to six-degree (5°C - 6°C) increase as “most accurate” with regard to present trends, climate history and models, yielding the most likely outcome for 2100. The most causative triad for the present warming trend from 1950 to the present is identified in this paper: 1) the tripling (3×) of world population;2) the quadrupling (4×) of carbon emissions;and 3) the quintupling (5×) of the world energy consumption. This paper presents a quantitative, linear global temperature correlation to carbon dioxide levels that has great predictive value, a short temporal feedback loop, and the finding that it is also reversible. The Vostok ice core temperature and CO2 values for the past 400,000 years, with past sea level estimates have produced the sufficiently evidential “Hansen’s Graph”. Detailed analysis results in an equation for global average temperature change and an indebted, long-term sea level rise, from even a 20 ppm of CO2 change above 290 ppm, commonly taken as a baseline for levels before 1950. Comparison to the well-known 800,000 year old Dome C ice core is also performed. The best-performing climate change models and observational analysis are seen to project more warming than the average model often relied upon. World atmosphere, temperature, and sea level trends for 2100 and beyond are analyzed. A laboratory experiment proves the dramatic heat-entrapment capability of CO

AIM To evaluate the frequency of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) Cag A antibodies in H. pylori infected subjects and to identify potential histopathological and bacterial factors related to H. pylori Cag A-immune *** Systematic data to H. pylori isolates, blood samples, gastric biopsies for histological and molecular analyses were available from 99 prospectively recruited subjects. Serological profile(anti-H. pylori, anti-Cag A) was correlated with H. pylori isolates(cag A, EPIYA, vac A s/m genotype), histology(Sydney classification) and mucosal interleukin-8(IL-8) m RNA and protein expression. Selected H. pylori strains were assessed for H. pylori Cag A protein expression and IL-8 induction in co-cultivation model with AGS *** Thirty point three percent of microbiologically confirmed H. pylori infected patients were seropositive for Cag A. Majority of H. pylori isolates were cag A gene positive(93.9%) with following vac A polymorphisms: 42.4% vac A s1m1, 23.2% s1m2 and 34.3% s2m2. Anti-Cag AIg G seropositivity was strongly associated with atrophic gastritis, increased mucosal inflammation according to the Sydney score, IL-8 and cag A m RNA expression. V a c A s a n d m p o l y m o r p h i s m s w e r e t h e m a j o r determinants for positive(vac A s1m1) or negative(vac A s2m2) anti-Cag A serological immune response, which also correlated with the in vitro inflammatory potential in AGS cells. In vitro co-cultivation of representative H. pylori strains with AGS cells confirmed functional Cag A translocation, which showed only partial correlation with Cag A seropositivity in patients, supporting vac A as major co-determinant of the immune *** Serological immune response to H. pylori cag A + strain in H. pylori infected patients is strongly associated with vac A polymorphism, suggesting the crucial role of bacterial factors in immune and clinical phenotype of the infection.

Despite the current acceleration and increasing leadership of Chinese genetics research,genetics and its clinical application have largely been imported to China from the *** genetics nor the scientifc reductionism underpinning its clinical application is integral to the traditional Chinese *** that disease concepts and their incumbent diagnoses are historically derived and culturally meaningful,we hypothesize that the cultural expectations of genetic diagnoses and medical genetics practice differ between the Occident and ***,we suggest that an undiagnosed diseases program in China will differ from the recently established Undiagnosed Diseases Program at the United States National Institutes of Health;a culturally sensitive concept will integrate traditional Chinese understanding of disease with the scientifc reductionism of Occidental medicine.

PRELIMINARY SCIENCE RESULTS fROM THE MARS PATHfINDER MISSION

The NASA Mars Pathfinder mission successfully carried out the first robotic exploration of the Martian surface since the Viking Lander missions of the late 1970s. The mission is one of the new "Discovery class"spacecraft designed t0 demonstrate the concepts of low cost, rapid development, innovative technology, and small science and operational teams. Pathfinder landed on Mars on July 4, 1997 near 19°N, 33°W, at the mouth of an ancient outflow channel. The mission operated for 83 days on the Martian surface, returning thousands of multispectral images, millions of meteorological measurements, chemical analyses of nearly 20 rock and soil samples, and data from a number of other engineering and technology experiments. Key scientific results from the initial analyses of the compositional and mineralogic data returned include: (1)Evidence that some rocks at the landing site may have higher Si content than"typical"terrestrial basalts or the SNC meteorites, possibly implying a greater degree of crustal

Application of Cydia pomonella expressed sequence tags： Identification and expression of three general odorant binding proteins in codling moth

The codling moth, Cydia pomonella, is one of the most important pests of pome fruits in the world, yet the molecular genetics and the physiology of this insect remain poorly understood. A combined assembly of 8？341 expressed sequence tags was generated from Roche 454 GS-fLX sequencing of eight tissue-specific cDNA libraries. Putative chemosensory proteins （12） and odorant binding proteins （OBPs）（18） were annotated, which included three putative general OBP （GOBP）, one more than typically reported for other Lepidoptera. To further characterize CpomGOBPs, we cloned cDNA copies of their transcripts and determined their expression patterns in various tissues. Cloning and sequencing of the 698？nt transcript for CpomGOBP1 resulted in the prediction of a 163 amino acid coding region, and subsequent RT-PCR indicated that the transcripts were mainly expressed in antennae and mouthparts. The 1？289 nt （160 amino acid） CpomGOBP2 and the novel 702 nt （169 amino acid） CpomGOBP3 transcripts are mainly expressed in antennae, mouthparts, and female abdomen tips. These results indicate that next generation sequencing is useful for the identification of novel transcripts of interest, and that codling moth expresses a transcript encoding for a new member of the GOBP subfamily.

A major challenge in runoff and soil erosion modelling is the adequate representation of the most relevant processes in models while avoiding over *** the European loess belt,pro-gressive soil crusting during rainfall events,resulting in infiltration-excess runoff,is usually considered the dominant process generating runoff on catchments covered with silty ***-excess may also occur and affect their runoff and erosion ***,saturation-excess runoff occurrence and quantification have rarely been performed and is usually not taken into account when modelling runoff and erosion in these ***,a continuous simulation of the Austreberthe catchment(214 km^(2)),located in the European loess belt(Normandy,france),was conducted with the new Water and Sediment(WaterSed)model over 12 years,corresponding to more than 780 individual rainfall events,at a 25 m spatial *** inter-annual variability of runoff and erosion was closely linked to the number of intense events per year and their distribution through the *** model was properly calibrated over a representative set of 35 rainfall events,considering either infiltration-excess and/or saturation-excess *** was also able to reproduce the measured runoff volume for most of the monitoring ***,the three years with most rainfall were adequately modelled only including saturation-excess *** analysis performed at the seasonal scale revealed that saturation was modelled in the catchment during almost all of the modelling period,suggesting the importance of this often overlooked process in current modelling attempts.

The finite field fq has q elements, where q = pk for prime p and k∈N. Then fq[x] is a unique factorization domain and its polynomials can be bijectively associated with their unique (up to order) factorizations into irreducibles. Such a factorization for a polynomial of degree n can be viewed as conforming to a specific template if we agree that factors with higher degree will be written before those with lower degree, and factors of equal degree can be written in any order. for example, a polynomial f(x) of degree n may factor into irreducibles and be written as (a)(b)(c), where deg a ≥ deg b ≥deg c. Clearly, the various partitions of n correspond to the templates available for these canonical factorizations and we identify the templates with the possible partitions. So if f(x) is itself irreducible over fq, it would belong to the template [n], and if f(x) split over fq, it would belong to the template [n] Our goal is to calculate the cardinalities of the sets of polynomials corresponding to available templates for general q and n. With this information, we characterize the associated probabilities that a randomly selected member of fq[x] belongs to a given template. Software to facilitate the investigation of various cases is available upon request from the authors.

Review of Electrogravitics &Electrokinetics Propulsion

Electrogravitics and electrokinetics can be traced to T. Townsend Brown’s first article “How I Control Gravity” (Science and Invention, 1929) with the unexplained alignment of the “molecular gravitors”. Brown reported that the dielectrics had high propulsive force when the “differently charged elements” were aligned with the voltage source. Perhaps electrogravitics was also revealed in the article “Gravity Nullified: Quartz Crystals Charged by High frequency Currents Lose Their Weight” which appeared two years earlier in the same magazine in September of 1927. The editors had a change of heart however, in the following issue, they rescinded the article. Much of what we know about T. T. Brown is from his numerous patents and articles, reprinted inElectrogravitics Systems Volume I, by this author who was fortunate to correspond with him in 1981 when he was at the University of florida. A sample of his detailed correspondence is contained in the out-of-print book,?Ether-Technology:?A Rational Approach to Gravity-Control?by Rho Sigma (1977) and in the recent?Defying Gravity:?The Parallel Universe of T. Townsend Brown,?Paul Schatzkin, (2009, Embassy Books).
