The a.m of this study wa. to eva.ua.e the herbicide glyphosa.e under a.ua.ic environment conditions, in a.controlled a.d closed experimenta. field, in the ma.a.ement of wa.er hya.inth (Eichhornia.cra.sipes) in reservoirs. Twenty reservoirs (polyethylene wa.er ta.ks) with stora.e ca.a.ity of 1000 liters were used, without wa.er flow a.d without eva.otra.spired wa.er repla.ement (worst ca.e), being 04 for ea.h trea.ment. The a.ult pla.ts were pla.ed in the wa.er ta.ks to provide 90% surfa.e occupa.ion of the reservoir. Five trea.ments with four repetitions were considered, being: 1) Reservoir colonized by wa.er hya.inth without control;2) Reservoir colonized by wa.er hya.inth, controlled by glyphosa.e;3) Reservoir colonized by wa.er hya.inth, controlled by freezing;4) Reservoir without wa.er hya.inth a.d glyphosa.e a.plica.ion a.d 5) Reservoir without wa.er hya.inth a.d no glyphosa.e a.plica.ion. The glyphosa.e herbicide wa. used a. the highest recommended dose, 7.0 L·ha.1 or 3360 g of a.id equiva.ent per ha. a.plied using ca.bon dioxide precision equipment (ba.kpa.k spra.er), providing a.flow ra.e of 200 L·ha.1. The wa.er sa.ples were collected a. the time of a.plica.ion, 6, 12, 18 a.d 24 hours a.ter a.plica.ion a.d a.so a. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 a.d 64 da.s a.ter a.plica.ion, in the morning, a.wa.s a. the sa.e time, a.so between 8 a.d 9 h. The method used for determina.ion of residues wa. by high performa.ce liquid chroma.ogra.hy (HPLC) a.d ma.s spectrometry with a.ma.s selective detector. Low concentra.ions of glyphosa.e a.d a.inomethylphosphonic a.id (a.Pa. were found in both reservoirs tha. received a.plica.ion of the product. The ha.f-life of glyphosa.e in wa.er to the reservoirs with wa.er hya.inth wa. 11 da.s a.d in the reservoirs without wa.er hya.inth wa. 21 da.s. The results show a.low potentia. of environmenta. impa.t of glyphosa.e use in the control of wa.er hya.inth in reservoirs.

The present work a.med to eva.ua.e the beha.ior of glyphosa.e herbicide in a.ua.ic environment, considering some wa.er qua.ity pa.a.eters, in reservoir conditions without flow a.d without repla.ement of eva.otra.spired wa.er. Twenty reservoirs (polyethylene wa.er ta.ks) with a.stora.e ca.a.ity of 1000 liters were used. The recommended herbicide dose a.cording to the ma.ufa.turer wa. 7.0 L or 3360 gra.s of a.id equiva.ent per hecta.e. For a.plica.ion in the reservoirs, a.precision equipment wa. used to ca.bon dioxide (CO2), providing a.flow of 200 L·ha.1. Freezing ma.rophyte dea.h wa. a.hieved by storing the pla.ts in a.freezer a. -18°C for a.period of 48 hours. The a.a.yses of control efficiency were performed a. 7, 14, 21, 28, 35 a.d 42 da.s a.ter a.plica.ion (Da.). Wa.er sa.ples for a.a.ysis of qua.ity indica.ors, pH a.d dissolved oxygen were collected weekly for nine weeks. The obta.ned result a.lows concluding tha. the herbicide glyphosa.e presented excellent control efficiency of wa.er hya.inth a.d did not significa.tly a.ter the wa.er qua.ity pa.a.eters pH a.d dissolved oxygen, indica.ing its use in the ma.a.ement of this ma.rophyte.

a.out 75% of the entire surfa.e of the pla.et Ea.th is covered by wa.er, with only a.out 3% of freshwa.er. The a.a.on region ha. the la.gest freshwa.er ba.in in the world a.d the uncontrolled growth of the popula.ion in this region ha. become a.problem concerning wa.er conta.ina.ion since a.la.ge pa.t of the region’s popula.ion obta.ns wa.er from a.tesia. wells. This study a.med to investiga.e some physica.-chemica. pa.a.eters of groundwa.er in the municipa.ity of Ca.pira.ga. a.a.ona. (a.), Bra.il. Wa.er sa.ples obta.ned from 14 tubula. wells were eva.ua.ed, a. well a. a.sa.ple of surfa.e wa.er from La.e Ca.pira.ga.tha. pa.ses in front of the municipa.ity. The va.t ma.ority of wa.er sa.ples showed low pH, a.d were of the pa.a.eters esta.lished for drinking wa.er, a.ua.ulture a.d a.ima. wa.ering. High levels of nitra.e a.e a.so found in most sa.ples, which indica.es conta.ina.ion of these wa.ers by domestic effluents. In wells 1, 6, 9 11, a.d 13 the levels of nitra.e were very high a.d ca. ca.se serious disea.es in people who use this wa.er for consumption. a.cording to the pa.a.eters eva.ua.ed, the qua.ity of groundwa.er in 5 of the 14 wells is unfit for huma. consumption.
