Three-Dimensional Convection in an Inclined Porous Layer Subjected to a vertical Temperature Gradient

New reagents for immunofluorescence analysis of carbazole series containing fluorinated β-dicarbonyl fragments and carboxylic substituent groups separated by spacers of different lengths from the light-gathering carbazole scaffold have been developed. The markers in complex with Eu3+ ions possess stability in the aqueous phase, intense and prolonged luminescence (τ 550 - 570 μs) with characteristic emission maxima in the region of 615 nm and excitation wavelengths in the region of 380 - 390 nm, which distinguishes them from most of the analogs used. In the study of marker conjugation with streptavidin, a reagent containing 4 - 5 europium labeling complexes based on spacer-containing carbazole tetraketone was obtained. The marker-doped silicate nanoparticles exhibit intense and long-lived luminescence in the characteristic region.

Rapid Multi-Wavelength Optical Assessment of Circulating Blood volume Without a Priori Data

The measurement of circulating blood volume （CBv） is crucial in various medical conditions including surgery, iatrogenic problems, rapid fluid administration, transfusion of red blood ceils, or trauma with extensive blood loss including battlefield injuries and other emergencies. Currently, available commercial techniques are invasive and time-consuming for trauma situations. Recently, we have proposed high-speed multi-wavelength photoacoustic/photothermal （PA/PT） flow cytometry for in vivo CBv assessment with multiple dyes as PA contrast agents （labels）. As the first step, we have characterized the capability of this technique to monitor the clearance of three dyes （indocyanine green, methylene blue, and trypan blue） in an animal model. However, there are strong demands on improvements in PA/PT flow cytometry. As additional verification of our proof-of-concept of this technique, we performed optical photometric CBv measurements in vitro. Three label dyes--methylene blue, crystal violet simultaneous photometric determination of the and, partially, brilliant green--were selected for components of their two-dye mixtures in the circulating blood in vitro without any extra data （like hemoglobin absorption） known a priori. The tests of single dyes and their mixtures in a flow system simulating a blood transfusion system showed a negligible difference between the sensitivities of the determination of these dyes under batch and flow conditions. For individual dyes, the limits of detection of 3×10-6M-3×10-5M in blood were achieved, which provided their continuous determination at a level of 10-SM for the CBv assessment without a priori data on the matrix. The CBv assessment with errors no higher than 4% were obtained, and the possibility to apply the developed procedure for optical photometric （flow cytometry） with laser sources was shown.

Ketogenic diet versus ketoacidosis： what determines the influence of ketone bodies on neurons？

Glucose is the main energy substrate for neurons, however, at certain conditions, e.g. in starvation, these cells could also use ketone bodies. This approach is used in clinical conditions as the ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diet is actually a biochemical model of fasting. It includes replacing carbohydrates by fats in daily meal. Synthesis of ketone bodies β-hydroxubutirate, acetoacetate and acetone begins once glycogen stores have depleted in the liver. The ketogenic diet can be used to treat clinical conditions, primarily epilepsy. The mechanism of neuroprotective action of ketogenic diet is not very clear. It is shown that ketone bodies influence neurons at three different levels, namely, metabolic, signaling and epigenetic levels. Ketone bodies are not always neuroprotective. Sometimes they can be toxic for the brain. Ketoacidosis which is a very dangerous complication of diabetes mellitus or alcoholism can be taken as an example. The exact mechanism of how neuroprotective properties of ketone bodies reverse to neurotoxic is yet to be established.

There have been few reports on the diversity and prevalence of parasitic fauna of the endangered Siberian tiger,which inhabits the territory of the Russian Far *** present review attempts to summarize the information about the parasitic fauna of wild Siberian tigers,which includes 15 helminths and 3 protozoan *** most prevalent parasitic species was found to be Toxocara cati,followed by Toxascaris *** commonly recorded Platyhelminth species is Paragonimus westermani,which causes a lethal infection of the lung parenchyma in Siberian ***,the information about infections by this fluke in the Siberian tigers is scarce,although *** infections pose a serious health hazard to tiger *** nematodes Aelurostrongylus abstrusus and Thominx aerophilus are found in Siberian tigers with an occurrence rate of 2.3%and 19%,*** information on the parasitic infestations of captive populations of Siberian tigers is also presented along with the sources of infection and hazards for the wild tiger populations in their natural environment.

Experimental and ab initio study of Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F stability in the pressure range of 0–10 GPa

Both numerical and experimental studies of the stability and electronic properties of barium–sodium metaborate Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F(P63/m) at pressures up to 10 GPa have been carried out. Electronic-structure calculations with HSE06 hybrid functional showed that Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F has an indirect band gap of 6.289 ev. A numerical study revealed the decomposition of Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F into the BaB_(2)O_(4),na BO_(2), and naF phases above 3.4 GPa at 300 K. Subsequent high-pressure high-temperature experiments performed using ‘Discoverer-1500’DIA-type apparatus at pressures of 3 and 6 GPa and temperature of 1173 K confirmed the stability of Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F at 3 GPa and its decomposition into BaB_(2)O_(4), naBO_(2), and naF at 6 GPa, which was verified by energy-dispersive X-ray analysis and Raman spectroscopy. The observed Raman bands of the Ba_(2)na_(3)(B_(3)O_(6))_(2)F phase were assigned by comparing the experimental and calculated spectra. The experimental Raman spectra of decomposition reaction products obtained at 6 GPa suggest the origin of a new high-pressure modification of barium metaborate BaB_(2)O_(4).

Peripheral blood lymphocytes Dna in patients with chronic liver diseases

BACKGROUND: viral replication in blood cells with nucleases may lead to the damage of lymphocytes genetic apparatus and the beginning of immunopathological reactions. AIM: Of this investigation is to reveal the damage to peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) Dna in the patients with chronic liver diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixteen-nine patients with chronic liver diseases (37 patients with chronic viral hepatitis, 2 patients with liver cirrhosis of mixed etiology (alcohol+virus G), 30 women with primary biliary cirrhosis-PBC) were examined. The condition of Dna structure of PBL was measured by the fluorescence analysis of Dna unwinding (FADU) technique with modification. Changes of fluorescence (in %) reflected the Dna distractions degree (the presence of Dna single-stranded breaks and alkalinelabile sights). RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The quantity of Dna single-stranded breaks and alkalinelabile sights in Dna in all patients with chronic viral hepatitis didn't differ from the control group, excluding the patients with chronic hepatitis (CH) C+G. Patients with HGv and TTv monoinfection had demonstrated the increase of the Dna single-stranded breaks PBL quantity. This fact may be connected with hypothesis about the viruses replication in white blood cells discussed in the literature. Tendency to increase quantity of Dna PBL damages in the patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) accordingly to the alkaline phosphatase activity increase was revealed. Significant decrease of the Dna single-stranded breaks and alkalinelabile sights in the PBC patients that were treated with prednisone was demonstrated. Probably, the tendency to increase the quantity of Dna single stranded breaks and alkalinelabile sights in lymphocytes of the PBC patients was depended on the surplus of the blood bile acid content.

Based on the photographic and CCD observations of the relative motion of the A and B components of the binary system ADS 9346 obtained with the 26-inch refractor of Pulkovo Observatory during 1979–2019,we discover an invisible companion associated with star *** of the ephemerides with the positional and spectroscopic observations allowed us to calculate the preliminary orbit of the photocenter(P=15 yr).The minimal mass of the companion is approximately 0.13 *** existence of the invisible low-mass companion is implied by the IR-excess based on IRAS *** confirm this,additional observations of the radial velocity near the periastron need to be carried out.
