Assessment of palmar subcutaneous tissue vascularization in patients with Dupuytren's contracture

AIm To investigate the structural and functional characte-ristics of palmar hypodermal tissue vascularization in Dupuytren's contracture patients of different *** Eighty-seven Dupuytren's contracture patients underwent partial fasciectomy. Twenty-two of them were less than 55 years old(Y-group, n = 22); the others were 55 and older(O-group, n = 65). In surgically excised representative tissue samples, a histomorphometric analysis of the perforating arteries of the palmar aponeurosis and stereologic analysis of hypodermis vascularity were performed. The method of laser flowmetry estimated the microcirculation of the skin of the *** Frequency of cases with rapid development of contracture(less than 5 years) was 13.6% in the Y-group and 40% in the O-group, P minal diameters of perforating arteries in palmar fascia were decreased more severely in Y. The thickness of intima increased three times compared with healthy control, and the intima/media relation also increased, especially in O. Increased numerical and volumetric micro-vessel densities in hypodermis, percentage of large vessels(more than 12 μm in diameter), and percentage of vessels with signs of periadventitial inflammatory infiltration were noted in Y. The percentage of vessels with adventitial fibrosis was greater in O than in Y. Base capillary flow in Y was increased compared to healthy control subjects and to O, and peak capillary flow was increased in comparison with *** Compared to the O-group, Y-group patients exhibited more severe constrictive remodeling of palmar fascia perforating arteries supplying hypodermis but more expressed compensatory changes of its capillarization.

Rapid multi-Wavelength Optical Assessment of Circulating Blood Volume Without a Priori Data

The measurement of circulating blood volume （CBV） is crucial in various medical conditions including surgery, iatrogenic problems, rapid fluid administration, transfusion of red blood ceils, or trauma with extensive blood loss including battlefield injuries and other emergencies. Currently, available commercial techniques are invasive and time-consuming for trauma situations. Recently, we have proposed high-speed multi-wavelength photoacoustic/photothermal （PA/PT） flow cytometry for in vivo CBV assessment with multiple dyes as PA contrast agents （labels）. As the first step, we have characterized the capability of this technique to monitor the clearance of three dyes （indocyanine green, methylene blue, and trypan blue） in an animal model. However, there are strong demands on improvements in PA/PT flow cytometry. As additional verification of our proof-of-concept of this technique, we performed optical photometric CBV measurements in vitro. Three label dyes--methylene blue, crystal violet simultaneous photometric determination of the and, partially, brilliant green--were selected for components of their two-dye mixtures in the circulating blood in vitro without any extra data （like hemoglobin absorption） known a priori. The tests of single dyes and their mixtures in a flow system simulating a blood transfusion system showed a negligible difference between the sensitivities of the determination of these dyes under batch and flow conditions. For individual dyes, the limits of detection of 3×10-6m-3×10-5m in blood were achieved, which provided their continuous determination at a level of 10-Sm for the CBV assessment without a priori data on the matrix. The CBV assessment with errors no higher than 4% were obtained, and the possibility to apply the developed procedure for optical photometric （flow cytometry） with laser sources was shown.

Based on the photographic and CCD observations of the relative motion of the A and B components of the binary system ADS 9346 obtained with the 26-inch refractor of Pulkovo Observatory during 1979–2019,we discover an invisible companion associated with star *** of the ephemerides with the positional and spectroscopic observations allowed us to calculate the preliminary orbit of the photocenter(P=15 yr).The minimal mass of the companion is approximately 0.13 *** existence of the invisible low-mass companion is implied by the IR-excess based on IRAS *** confirm this,additional observations of the radial velocity near the periastron need to be carried out.

Identification of genes involved in the formation of soluble dietary fiber in winter rye grain and their expression in cultivars with different viscosities of wholemeal water extract

The grain of rye(Secale cereale L.) used for baking contains a large amount of non-starch polysaccharides,making it an excellent component of functional foods. But rye grain intended for alcohol production and forage use should have a reduced content of these polysaccharides. A comprehensive parameter that can predict the best field of application for winter rye grain is the viscosity of its wholemeal water ***, our understanding of the genetic background underlying this key trait and associated features of rye grain is poor. By analyzing six Russian winter rye cultivars, we identified the most contrasting forms and characterized the peculiarities of their water-soluble carbohydrates capable of influencing the viscosity of water extracts. Then, using phylogenetic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified in the rye genome many genes encoding putative glycosyltransferases and glycosylhydrolases responsible for the synthesis and degradation of arabinoxylans, mixed-linkage glucans, cellulose, and some other polysaccharides. We determined the dynamics of m RNA abundance for these genes at three stages of kernel development. Comparisons of gene expression levels in two contrasting cultivars revealed specific members of multigene families that may serve as promising targets for manipulating non-starch polysaccharide content in rye grain. High-viscosity cultivars were characterized by up-regulation of many glycosyltransferases involved in the biosynthesis of arabinoxylans and other cell-wall polysaccharides,whereas low-viscosity cultivars showed up-regulation of several genes encoding polysaccharidedegrading enzymes.

Report of the restudy of the defined global stratotype of the base of the Silurian System

The Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for the base of the Silurian System was defined in 1985. Since that time, a number of researchers have suggested that this section has serious deficiencies for use as a GSSP As a result, in 2000, the Subcommission on Silurian Stratigraphy (SSS) proposed undertaking a formal restudy of this GSSR, which was subsequently approved by the International Commission of Stratigraphy (ICS). The result of this restudy was the formal proposal that the current GSSP, at 1.6 m above the base of the Birkhill Shale, at Dob's Linn, Scotland, should be maintained as the same locality and stratigraphic level, but the biostratigraphical definition of the boundary should be revised. The previously defined, basal Silurian graptolite zone, the Parakidograptus acuminatus Zone, should be subdivided into a lower Akidograptus ascensus Zone and a higher P. acuminatus Zone. The base of the A. ascensus Zone, marked by the first appearance of A. ascensus, should be regarded as the biostratigraphic mark for the base of the Silurian. This proposal has now been formally approved by the SSS and ICS, and ratified by International Union of Geological Sciences. This is the first GSSP to undergo formal restudy and redefinition, and the proposal also included a recommended procedure for restudy of GSSPs.

Urban air pollution,climate and its impact on asthma morbidity

Objective:To study the mechanism of formation of air quality and to determine the impact of the studied factors on asthma morbidity in ***:The evaluation of air pollution in Vladivostok was done using long-term(2008-2012) monitoring data(temperature,humidity,atmospheric pressure,wind speed,etc.).The levels of suspended particulate matter,nitrogen and sulfur dioxide,carbon monoxide,ammonia,formaldehyde(mg/m^3) in six stationary observation posts were *** studied the aerosol suspensions of solid particles,which were collected during snowfall from precipitation(snow) and air in 14 districts with different levels of anthropogenic *** snow was analyzed on laser *** impact of air pollution on the distribution of asthma morbidity was evaluated in various age groups by data of federal statistical observation obtained from 8 adults and 7 children municipal clinics in Vladivostok(2008-2012).Results:The content of suspended particulate components of pollution remained more stable,due to the features of atmospheric circulation,rugged terrain and residential *** nano- and micro-sized particles(0-50 μm),which can absorb highly toxic metals,prevail in dust *** respirable fractions of particles,even in small doses,can contribute to the increase in asthma morbidity in the ***:We determined that asthma morbidity depends from general air pollution(in the range of 18.3%).It was detected that the highest age-specific dependence is associated with the content of particulate matter,carbon monoxide and nitrogen dioxide in air.
