The corrosion inhibition of type 304 austenitic stainless steel by 2-amino-5-ethyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole(TTD) compound and the electrochemical behaviour in dilute HCl solution were investigated through potentiodynamic polarization test, mass loss techniques and potential measurements. The results show that the organic derivative is highly effective with a maximum inhibition efficiency of 70.22% from mass loss analysis, while 74.2% is obtained from polarization tests. Observation of the scanning electron micrographs shows the absence of corrosion products due to electrochemical influence of TTD on the surface morphology of the steel. X-ray diffractometry reveals the absence of phase compounds and complexes on the steel samples after exposure. TTD adsorption on the steel surface obeys the Langmuir, Frumkin and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. Corrosion thermodynamic calculations reveal the inhibition mechanism occurs through chemisorption process and results from statistical analysis depict the strong influence of inhibitor concentration on the electrochemical performance of the TTD.

Mining-induced seismicity is a reflection of rock geomechanical evolution of geological environment in the natural and man-made systems and in the mining-technical systems. In order to predict and prevent mining-induced seismicity, it is necessary to research geodynamics and stress state of intact rock mass, to determine possible deformations and additional stresses as a result of large-scale rock extraction, conditions of accumulated energy release. For that a geodynamical monitoring is required on every stage of deposit development and a closing. The report considers principal influencing factors of preparation and occurrence of mining-induced earthquakes. Also it estimates precursors and indicators of rock mass breaking point, and experience concerning prediction and prevention of mining-induced seismicity in the Khibiny apatite mines in the Murmansk region, which is the largest mining province.

Spatial engineering of the nonlinear susceptibility χ^((2)) in resonant metasurfaces offers a new degree of freedom in the design of the far-field response of second-harmonic generation(SHG). We demonstrate this by applying electric field poling to lithium niobate(LN) thin films, which inverts the spontaneous polarization and thus the sign of χ^((2)). Metasurfaces fabricated in periodically poled LN films reveal the distinct influence of theχ^((2))-patterning on the spatial distribution of the second harmonic. This work is a first step toward far-field engineering of SHG in metasurfaces with electric field poling.

为研究细砂岩在不同特征应力阶段循环荷载作用下的损伤特性，基于声发射能量特征、弹性能和耗散能指数确定岩样特征应力阈值。以该阈值为循环加卸载限值开展三轴试验。从耗能和损伤量的角度阐明细砂岩在不同应力阶段的损伤特性。研究结果表明：不同特征应力阶段，第一次加载弹性模量最小，应变率最大，随循环次数的增加逐渐趋于稳定，耗能率和塑性应变率逐渐降低，储能限值保持不变，表明所受荷载达到损伤应力前细砂岩处于稳定损伤阶段，且细砂岩在循环荷载作用下存在损伤记忆性。围压对不同特征应力阶段细砂岩损伤特性的影响不一致，随围压的增加，同一特征应力阶段应变率逐渐减小；第一、二特征应力阶段耗能率和塑性应变率略微下降，损伤占比保持不变；第三特征应力阶段耗能率、塑性应变率和损伤占比明显增加，表明随围压的增加，对第一、二特征应力阶段损伤呈抑制作用，对第三特征应力阶段损伤呈促进作用。

Red Beetroot Juice and Stamina: An Experimental Study

Introduction: Red beet juice is increasingly used in sports to enhance the endurance of athletes. To increase the specific efficiency of red beet juice, the method of its fractionation by ultrafiltration was used for the first time. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effect of fractionated beetroot juice on the strength and endurance of laboratory rats. Methods: Male Wistar rats (6 groups;n = 10) were used in the study. In addition to the standard chow, some groups of rats 2 h before the exercises received 0.5 ml of native (RBJ) or fractionated (FRBJ) per os. Three groups of animals were trained using a motorized wheel with a gradual speed increase over four weeks: 20 min/day for five days a week. Muscle strength of animals in all groups was measured by electronic dynamometry and the endurance of rats was evaluated once a week using electrical stimulation on a racetrack which moved at a speed of 15 m/min. The test was performed an hour after the ingestion of RBJ or FRBJ. At the end of the experiment, biochemical blood indices were determined. FRBJ was prepared by the original method. Results: Most significant differences in the chemical composition of RBJ and FRBJ were found for glutamic acid, of which the content was 67.2% higher than in native juice. The greatest changes during the experiment were in the mass of the rats’ calf muscles. Regular running exercise caused a 29% increase in muscle mass. The additional increase in m. gastrocnemius was also provided y FRBJ – 12%. The combination of physical activity and the introduction of red beet derivate led to the increase of the calf muscle mass by 121% within a month. Assessing the endurance of animals by frequency of falling from the treadmill, we can conclude that compared with untrained animals, trained rats receiving FRBJ had three times higher levels of endurance.
