Nanoscale defects in the outer tube to preserve the electrical and optical features of the inner tube can be engineered to exploit the intrinsic properties of double walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) for various promising applications. We demonstrated a selective way to make defects in the outer tube by the fluorination of DWCNTs followed by the thermal detachment of the F atoms at 1000 °C in argon. Fluorinated DWCNTs with different amounts of F atoms were prepared by reacting with fluorine gas at 25, 200, and 400 °C that gave the stoichiometry of CF0.20, CF0.30, and CF0.43, respectively. At the three different temperatures used, we observed preservation of the coaxial morphology in the fluorinated DWCNTs. For the DWCNTs fluorinated at 25 and 200 °C, the strong radial breathing modes (RBMs) of the inner tube and weakened RBMs of the outer tube indicated selective fluorine attachment onto the outer tube. However, the disappearance of the RBMs in the Raman spectrum of the DWCNTs fluorinated at 400 °C showed the introduction of F atoms onto both inner and outer tubes. There was no significant change in the morphology and optical properties when the DWCNTs fluorinated at 25 and 200 °C were thermally treated at 1000 °C in argon. However, in the case of the DWCNTs fluorinated at 400 °C, the recovery of strong RBMs from the inner tube and weakened RBMs from the outer tube indicated the selective introduction of substantial defects on the outer tube while preserving the original tubular shape. The thermal detachment of F atoms from fluorinated DWCNTs is an efficient way to make highly defective outer tubes for preserving the electrical conduction and optical activity of the inner tubes.

BACKGROUND Intraductal tubulopapillary neoplasm(ITPN)is a rare disease accounting for approximately 3%of all intraductal pancreatic tumors,with intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm(IPMN)being one of the most common differential *** ITPN and IPMN display slow growth.A branched pancreatic duct type is commonly observed in IPMN,whereas ITPN derived from the branched pancreatic duct has been reported in a limited number of cases;hence,its pathogenesis remains *** SUMMARY Here,we present the case of a patient with ITPN localized in a branched pancreatic duct,with poorly controlled irritable bowel syndrome.A contrastenhanced computed tomography scan of the abdomen incidentally revealed a 5-mm oligemic nodule-like change in the body of the *** ultrasound(EUS)indicated a 10-mm hypoechoic mass without any cystic structures that had grown within 2 ***-guided fine needle aspiration was performed for definitive diagnosis,and the findings suggested ductal papillary *** pancreatectomy was performed,and the tumor was pathologically diagnosed as ITPN with an invasive cancerous component,pT3N1aM0,pStage IIB(International Cancer Control,8^(th) edition).The patient underwent treatment with postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy(S-1 monotherapy);however,relapse was observed 1 year and 10 mo after surgical resection,and subsequent treatment involving a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy was *** therapy has since facilitated a stable disease *** Regardless of the microscopic size of the neoplasm,early diagnosis of ITPN with EUS-guided fine needle aspiration and surgical resection are crucial.

Choroidal or cutaneous metastasis of gastric cancer is rare. Gastrointestinal cancer was found in only 4% in patients with uveal metastasis. Choroidal metastasis from gastric cancer was reported in two cases in earlier literature. The frequency of gastric cancer as a primary lesion was 6% in cutaneous metastasis of men, and cutaneous metastasis occurs in 0.8% of all gastric cancers. We report a patient with gastric adenocarcinoma who presented with visual disorder in his left eye and skin pain on his head as his initial symptoms. These symptoms were diagnosed to be caused by choroidal and cutaneous metastasis of gastric adenocarcinoma. Two cycles of chemotherapy consisted of oral S-1 and intravenous cisplatin (SPIRITS regimen); this was markedly effective to reduce the primary gastric lesion and almost all the metastatic lesions.

A high angular resolution near-infrared image that shows the intensity of polarization for the GG Tau A binary system was obtained with the Subaru Telescope. The image shows a circumbinary disk scattering the light from the central binary. The azimuthal profile of the intensity of polarization for the circumbinary disk is roughly reproduced by a simple disk model with the Henyey-Greenstein phase function and the Rayleigh function, indicating there are small dust grains at the surface of the disk. Combined with a previous observation of the circumbinary disk, our image indicates that the gap structure in the circumbinary disk orbits counterclockwise, but material in the disk orbits clockwise. We propose that there is a shadow caused by material located between the central binary and the circumbinary disk. The separations and position angles of the stellar components of the binary in the past 20 yr are consistent with the binary orbit with a = 33.4 AU and e = 0.34.
