Influence of Si,Ce,Sb and Sn on chunky graphite formation

The thirteen mother alloys,C%+1/3Si%=4.45%,differing in their Si,Ce,Sb and Sn contents,were *** grams of these alloys was remelted in a high purity alumina crucible at 1,450oC under an Ar atmosphere,and then cooled at 30 K/min for obtaining their cooling *** graphite morphologies were observed using an optical microscope and an *** three-dimensional graphite shapes were observed by the SEM using the samples whose matrices were etched off with an acid-aqua solution,to confirm the chunky *** discussing the influence of the Si and Ce contents on the chunky graphite formation,two experiments were carried *** the first one,the Si contents were changed from 0 to 4% in the 0.15%Ce alloys,and for the second one,the 3.5%Si and 4%Si samples that differed in the Ce contents of 0.1 and 0.2% were *** the third experiment,the influence of Sb and Sn on the chunky graphite formation was investigated by using the 4%Si and 0.1%Ce *** results showed that with the increase of the Si content,the volume fraction of the chunky graphite increases,while the volume fraction of the ledeburite decreases,and the chunky graphite volume fraction in the 0.2%Ce samples is higher than that of the 0.1%Ce *** effect of the Sb and Sn additions on the prevention of chunky graphite formation cannot be confirmed due to their high Si ***,further studies will be needed in this field.

Primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma is a particularly rare tumor with a poor prognosis. Curative resection is currently the only effective treatment, and the efficacy of chemotherapy is unclear. This represents the first case report of a patient with primary hepatic leiomyosarcoma co-existing with metastatic liver carcinoma. We present a 59-year-old man who was diagnosed preoperatively with rectal cancer with multiple liver metastases. He underwent a curative hepatectomy after a series of chemotherapy regimens with modified FOLFOX6 consisting of 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin and oxaliplatin plus bevacizumab, FOLFIRI consisting of 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin and irinotecan plus bevacizumab, and irinotecan plus cetuximab. One of the liver tumors showed a different response to chemotherapy and was diag-nosed as a leiomyosarcoma following histopathological examination. This case suggests that irinotecan has the potential to inhibit the growth of hepatic leiomyosarcomas. The possibility of comorbid different histological types of tumors should be suspected when considering the treatment of multiple liver tumors.

Self-shaping materials such as shape memory polymers have recently drawn considerable attention owing to their high shape-changing ability in response to changes in ambient conditions, and thereby have promising applications in the biomedical, biosensing, soft robotics and aerospace fields. Their design is a crucial issue of both theoretical and technological interest. Motivated by the shape-changing ability of Towel Gourd tendril helices during swelling/deswelling, we present a strategy for realizing self-shaping function through the deformation of micro/nanohelices. To guide the design and fabrication of selfshaping materials, the shape equations of bent configurations, twisted belts, and helices of slender chiral composite are developed using the variation method. Furthermore, it is numerically shown that the shape changes of a chiral composite can be tuned by the deformation of micro/nanohelices and the fabricated fiber directions. This work paves a new way to create self-shaping composites.

Interstitial fluid movement in the brain parenchyma has been suggested to contribute to sustaining the metabolism in brain parenchyma and maintaining the function of neurons and glial *** pulsatile hydrostatic pressure gradient may be one of the driving forces of this bulk ***,osmotic pressure- related factors have not been studied until *** this prospective observational study,to elucidate the relationship between osmolality (mOsm/kg) in the serum and that in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF),we simultaneously measured the serum and CSF osmolality of 179 subjects with suspected neurological *** osmolality was 283.6 ± 6.5 mOsm/kg and CSF osmolality was 289.5 ± 6.6 mOsm/*** the specific gravity of serum and CSF is known to be 1.024–1.028 and 1.004–1.007,respectively,the estimated average of osmolarity (mOsm/L) in the serum and CSF covered exactly the same range (i.e.,290.5–291.5 mOsm/L).There was strong correlation between CSF osmolality and serum osmolality,but the difference in osmolality between serum and CSF was not correlated with serum osmolality,serum electrolyte levels,protein levels,or quotient of *** conclusion,CSF osmolarity was suggested to be equal to serum *** is not one of the driving forces of this bulk *** factors such as hydrostatic pressure gradient should be used to explain the mechanism of bulk flow in the brain *** study was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Tohoku University Hospital (approval *** No.2015-1-257) on July 29,2015.

Using bare Argonne V4'(AV4'),V6'(AV6'),and V8'(AV8')nucleon–nucleon(NN)interactions,the nuclear equations of state(EOSs)for neutron matter are calculated with the unitary correlation operator and high-momentum pair *** matter is described using a finite particle number approach with magic number N=66 under a periodic boundary *** central short-range correlation originating from the short-range repulsion in the NN interaction is treated by the unitary correlation operator method(UCOM),and the tensor correlation and spin-orbit effects are described by the two-particle two-hole(2p2h)excitations of nucleon pairs,where the two nucleons with a large relative momentum are regarded as a high-momentum(HM)*** increasing 2p2h configurations,the total energy per particle of the neutron matter is well-converged under this UCOM+HM *** the results calculated with AV4',AV6',and AV8'NN interactions,we demonstrate the effects of the short-range correlation,tensor correlation,and spin-orbit coupling on the density dependence of the total energy per particle of neutron ***,the contribution of each Hamiltonian component to the total energy per particle is *** EOSs of neutron matter calculated within the present UCOM+HM framework agree with the calculations of six microscopic many-body theories,especially the auxiliary field-diffusion Monte Carlo calculations.

The correlation coefficients between the typhoon frequencies for the seven regions in East Asia (i. e. Xisha, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Naha, Kagoshima and Nagoya) and the monthly-mean sea surface temperature (SST) from 2 years before to 1 year after are calculated, indicating that the most significant correlation appears in the period from the summer of 2 years before to the summer of 1 year before. During this period negative correlations are located in the northwestern part of the North Pacific while the positive ones located in the southeastern part. It is found that the positive correlations change into the negative ones in Equatorial East Pacific in the same year (simultaneous correlation). The high-level correlation region in 1 year after is found in the area of Alaska Current. It is also suggested that there are interannual variations of about 1,1.5 and 2 years for the changes of the correlation intensity.

Enargite is typically associated with *** to the similarity in the flotation behaviors of these minerals,both minerals are reported to concentrate in the conventional flotation ***,inorganic arsenic in enargite can decrease the copper concentrate quality and increase the operating cost of processing this *** these minerals is important for cleaner copper production to avoid these *** this context,this study investigated the effect of hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))treatment on the flotation behavior of chalcocite and *** tests of pure and mixed minerals indicated that H_(2)O_(2)treatment reduced the floatability of chalcocite and enargite by forming sulfate and copper hydroxide on their *** the detrimental effect of the H_(2)O_(2)treatment,there was a narrow window of H_(2)O_(2)concentration for separating both minerals,in which enargite floated and chalcocite was *** selective flotation behavior was caused by the rapid adsorption of potassium amyl xanthate(KAX)and lower surface oxidation of enargite compared with that of chalcocite.
