Clindamycin-induced acute cholestatic hepatitis

We report a case of acute hepatotoxicity in a 42-yearold woman after administration of clindamycin for a dental infection. After 6 d of treatment, she had fatigue, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, pruritus and jaundice. Her laboratory analysis showed alanine aminotransferase （alt）, 1795 IU/L （normal range 0-40）; aspartate aminotransferase （ASt）, 1337 IU/L （normal range 5-34）; alkaline phosphatase （ALP）, 339 IU/L （normal range 40-150）; 7-glutamyl transpeptidase （GGt）, 148 IU/L （normal range 9-64 IU/L）; total bilirubin, 4.1 mg/dL; direct bilirubin, 2.9 mg/dL and prothrombin time （Pt）, 13.5 s, with international normalized ratio （InR）, 1.04. She was hospitalized, with immediate drug discontinuation. Her liver biopsy specimen showed mixed-type （both hepatocellular and cholestatic） hepatic injury, compatible with a diagnosis of drug-induced hepatitis. An objective causality assessment using the naranjo probability scale suggested that clindamycin was the probable cause of the acute hepatitis. In susceptible individuals, clindamycin use may lead to acute mixedtype liver toxicity. Complete recovery may be possible if the drug is discontinued before severe liver injury is established.

Au/Zn O/n-Si（MIS）structures were fabricated by using the RF sputtering method and their complex dielectric constant（ε*=ε’-jε’’）,electric modulus（M*=M′+j M’’）and electrical conductivity(σ=σdc+σac)values were investigated as a function of frequency（0.7 k Hz-1 MHz）and voltage(-6–（+6 V）)by capacitance-voltage（C-V）and conductance-voltage（G/ω-V）measurements to get more information on the conduction mechanisms and formation of barrier height between Au and *** lnσ-Lnf plots have two different regions corresponding to low-intermediate and high *** behavior of lnσ-lnf plots shows that the existence of two different conduction mechanisms（CMs）at low-intermediate and high ***,the reverse bias saturation current（I_o）,ideality factor（n）,barrier height(ΦBo)were determined from the forward bias I-V data and they were found as a strong function of *** value of n especially at low temperature is considerably higher than *** values ofΦB0and standard deviation（σs）were found from the intercept and slope ofΦBo-q/2k t plots as 0.551 e V and 0.075 V for the region I（80–220 K）and 1.126 e V and 0.053 V for the region II（220–400 K）,*** values ofΦBoand effective Richardson constant（A*）were found from slope and intercept of activation energy plots as 0.564 e V and 101.084 Acm-2K-2for the region I and 1.136 e V and41.87 Acm-2K-2for the region II,*** results confirm that the current-voltage-temperature（I-V-t）characteristics of the fabricated Au/Zn O/n-Si SBDs can satisfactorily be explained on the basis of tE theory with double GD of the BHs.

AIM:to evaluate the aspartate aminotransferase(ASt) to platelet ratio index(APRI) as a predictive factor of early viral response in chronic hepatitis C naive ***:We performed an ambispective case-control *** enrolled chronic hepatitis C naive patients who were evaluated to start therapy with PEGylated interferon α-2b(1.5 μg/kg per week) and ribavirin(>75 kg:1200mg and tients were allocated into two groups,group 1:Hepatitis C patients with early viral response(EVR),group 2:Patients without *** ratio(OR) and 95% confi dence interval(CI) were calculated to assess the relationship between each risk factor and the EVR in both ***:During the study,80 patients were analyzed,45 retrospectively and 35 *** mean ± SD age of our subjects was 42.9 ± 12 years;weight 70 kg(±11.19),ASt 64.6 IU/mL(±48.74),alanine aminotransferase(alt) 76.3 IU/mL(±63.08) and platelets 209000 mill/mm3(±84 429).Fifty-five(68.8%) were genotype 1 and 25(31.3%) were genotype 2 or 3;the mean hepatitis C virus RnA viral load was 2 269 061 IU/mL(±7220266).In the univariate analysis,APRI was not associated with EVR [OR 0.61(95% CI 0.229-1.655,P=0.33)],and the absence of EVR was only associated with genotype 1 [OR 0.28(95% CI 0.08-0.94,P=0.034)].After adjustment in a logistic regression model,genotype 1 remains signifi ***:APRI was not a predictor of EVR in chronic hepatitis C;Genotype 1 was the only predictive factor associated with the absence of EVR in our patients.

novel bioengineering functional organoboron polymers were synthesized by 1) amidolysis of poly(acrcylic acid) (PAA) with 2-aminoethyldiphenyl borinate (2-AEPB), 2) esterification of organoboron PAA polymer (PAA-B) with a-hydroxy-methoxypoly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) as a compatibilizer and 3) conjugation of organoboron PEO branches (PAA-B-PEO) with folic acid (FA) as a targeting agent. Structure and composition of the synthesized polymers were characterized by FtIR-AtR and 1H (13C) nMR spectroscopy, chemical and physical analysis methods. Anti-tumor activity of organoboron functional polymer and its complex with FA (PAA-B-PEO-F) against cancer and normal cells were evaluated by using different biochemical methods such as cytotoxicity, statistical, apoptotic and necrotic cell indexes, double staining and caspase-3 immune staining, light and fluorescence inverted microscope analyses. It was found that citotoxicity and apoptotic/necrotic effects of polymers significantly depend on the structure and composition of studied polymers, and increase the following raw: PAA ng them, PAA-B-PEO-F complex at 400 mg mL–1 concentration as a therapeutic drug exhibits minimal toxicity toward the nor-mal cells, but influential for HeLa cancer cells.

A competitive finite-difference method will be constructed and used to solve a modified deterministic model for the spread of herpes simplex virus type-2 (HSV-2) within a given population. the model monitors the transmission dynamics and control of drug-sensitive and drug-resistant HSV-2. Unlike the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method (rk4), which fails when the discretization parameters exceed certain values, the novel numerical method to be developed in this paper gives convergent results for all parameter values.

the aim of the work is the comparison of the epidemiology of influenza and acute respiratory virus infections (ARVI) in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the corresponding influenza epidemic in Russia induced by influenza pandemic virus A/California/07/2009 in *** on influenza and ARVI from the Republic of Kazakhstan and Federal Center of influenza was collected and investigated over the course of several weeks from hospitalized patients with the same diagnosis among all population and in age groups on 16 territories of Kazakhstan and in 49 major cities of *** epidemic in Kazakhstan resembled the Russian epidemic in terms of its abnormally early beginning,expression of monoaetiology,the spread of the epidemic into all territories and start of the epidemics among adult *** percentage of hospitalized people and lethal outcome were registered in this *** of epidemic process character in corresponding border-line territories of both countries was found out.

Objective:to examine the magnitude of isolated anti-HBc and other HBV serological patterns and associated predictors among adults seeking general health check-up at a large health center in ***:All 564 outpatients seeking general health checkup between January 2016 and December 2016 were asked to undertake HBV surface antigen,surface antibody,IgG and IgM core antibody(anti-HBc total),platelet counts,and liver function *** administered questionnaire was used to collect information regarding demography,in-house sources of infection,lifestyle,health condition and treatment,and HBV ***:Male gender(P=0.043),age(P=0.000),living in urban areas(P=0.040),HBV vaccination status(P=0.033),and alt(P=0.040) were associated with isolated *** infection was associated with HBV vaccination status(P=0.001),alt levels(P=0.010),ASt levels(P=0.020),and platelet counts(P=0.007).Past/resolved HBV infection was associated with ASt levels(P=0.005),alt levels(P=0.014),and age(P=0.000).Conclusions:Isolated anti-HBc is quite *** of isolated anti-HBc include male gender,living in rural areas,and HBV *** prevalence of isolated anti-HBc also increases with *** timely detect occult HBV infection and prevent transmission,anti-HBc testing should be included in the health check-up for high risk individuals and screening program where HBV nucleic acid test is not *** prevent transmission,clinicians need to pay more attention on those who are at risk of having isolated anti-HBc and closely follow-up patients with isolated anti-HBc and educate them about the prevention of HBV infection.

After the energy crisis in 1970s,buildings began to be used as a platform for the elements which produce energy from renewable energies to return them into energy producing power *** is a safe,clean and economic way to produce energy since the energy is produced where it is needed and they use renewable energy ***,it promises hope for the future energy ***,the aim of this study is to examine buildings which produce electricity by using renewable energy resources and to show that this is one of the safest,cleanest and most economic ways to be used to produce energy in the *** is done by describing power plants and how buildings are used as power producing stations by the use of renewable energy resources or other energy producing materials,then by examining case studies which are constructed and already being used,case studies which are just a design that have not yet been constructed,and by making projections to the future energy producing techniques that are just a proposal in *** the conclusion,buildings are proposed as the future power plants,either here on earth or on another planet like Mars.

novel boron-containing bioengineering copoly- mer and its α-hydoxy-ω-methoxy-poly(ethy- lene oxide (PEO) macrobranched derivatives were synthesized by (1) partially amidolysis of poly(maleic anhydride-alt-methyl vinyl ether) w?th ethanolamine ester of diphenylboronic acid and (2) esterification of synthesized B-con- taining copolymers with PEO. they had a com- bination of hydrophilic/hydrophobic linkages, free carboxylic groups, positive charges and an ionized organoboron linkage as antitumor sites, along with an ability to interact with HeLa cells. the structure, composition and properties (cy- totoxicity and antitumor activity) of synthe- sized copolymers were investigated. In vitro cytotoxicity results, obtained by the fluore scence microscopy measurements indicate that unlike the virgin copolymer, boron-containing and PEO macrobranched derivatives exhibit higher antitumor activity. It was found that organoboron copolymer exhibits the most apo- ptotic and necrotic effects against HeLa cells whereas a minor effect relative to cancer cells was observed on L929 Fibroblast cells.
