GIS based ArcPRZM-3 model for bentazon leaching towards groundwater

Groundwater contamination due to pesticide applications on agricultural lands is of great environmental concern. the mathematical models help to understand the mechanism of pesticide leaching in soils towards groundwater. We developed a user-friendly model called ArcPRZM-3 by integrating widely used Pesticide Root Zone Model version 3 （PRZM-3） using Visual Basic and Geographic Information System （GIS） based Avenue programming. ArcPRZM-3 could be used to simulate pesticide leaching towards groundwater with user-friendly input interfaces coupled with databases of crops, soils and pesticides. the outputs from ArcPRZM-3 could be visualized in user-friendly formats of tables, charts and maps. In this study we evaluated ArcPRZM-3 model by simulating bentazon leaching in soil towards groundwater. ArcPRZM-3 was applied to 37 sites in Woodruff County, Arkansas, USA to observe the daily average dissolved bentazon concentration for soybean, sorghum and rice at a depth of 1.8 m for a period of two years. Nineteen ranks of bentazon leaching potential were obtained using ArcPRZM-3 for all sites having different soil and crop combinations. ArcPRZM-3 simulation results for bentazon were compatible with the field monitored data in term of relative ranking and trend, although some uncertainties exist. this study indicated that macropore flow mechanism would be important in analyzing the effect of irrigation on groundwater contamination due to pesticides. Overall, ArcPRZM-3 could be used to simulate pesticide leaching towards groundwater more efficiently and effectively as compared to PRZM-3.

the green fuel from carbon waste： optimization and product selectivity model studies

Increase in greenhouse gases, has made scientists to substitute alternative fuels for fossil fuels. Nowadays, converting biomass into liquid by Fischer-tropsch synthesis is a major concern for alternative fuels （gasoline, diesel etc.）. Selectivity of Fischer-tropsch hydrocarbon product （green fuel） is an important issue. In this study, the experimental data has been obtained from three factors; temperature, H2/CO ratio and pressure in the fixed bed micro reactor. t = 543-618 （K）, P = 3-10 （bar）, H2/CO = 1-2 and space velocity = 4500 （l/h） were the reactor conditions. the results of product modeling for methane （CH4）, ethane （C2H6）, ethylene （C2H4） and CO conversion with experimental data were compared. the effective parameters and the interaction between them were investigated in the model. H2/CO ratio and pressure and interaction between pressure and H2/CO in ethane selectivity model and CO conversion and interaction between temperature and H2/CO ratio in methane selectivity model and ethylene gave the best results. to determine the optimal conditions for light hydrocarbons, ANOVA and RSM were employed. Finally, products optimization was done and results were concluded.

travelling wave solutions have been played a vital role in demonstrating the wave character of nonlinear problems arising in the field of ocean engineering and *** describe the propagation of the nonlinear wave phenomenon in the ocean(for example,wind waves,tsunami waves),a variety of evolution equations have been suggested and investigated in the existing *** paper studies the dynamic of travelling periodic and solitary wave behavior of a double-dispersive non-linear evolution equation,named the Sharma-tasso-Olver(StO)*** evolution equations with double dispersion enable us to describe nonlinear wave propagation in the ocean,hyperplastic rods and other mediums in the field of science and *** analyze the wave solutions of this model using a combination of numerical simulations and Ansatz *** analysis shows that the travelling wave solutions involve a range of parameters that displays important and very interesting properties of the wave *** relevance of the parameters in the travelling wave solutions is also *** simulating numerically,we demonstrate how parameters in the solutions influence the phase speed as well as the travelling and solitary ***,we discuss instantaneous streamline patterns among the obtained solutions to explore the local direction of the components of the obtained solitary wave solutions at each point in the coordinate(x,t).

Experimental investigation of the effects of shrub filter strips on debris flow trapping and interception

Ecological engineering plays an increasingly significant role in mountain hazard control, but the effect of species selection and arrangement(e.g., row spacing and stem spacing) on debris flow suppression is still unclear. to further understand the interception efficiency of shrub arrangement parameters on debris flow and explore the difference with slow hydraulic erosion, sixteen sets of small-scale flume experiments with different stem and row spacings were done to study the effects of shrubs on debris flow severity, flow rate, velocity, and particle size. the results suggest that, for a dilute debris flow, sediment interception effectiveness(27.4%-60.9%) decreases gradually as stem spacing increases. Moreover, as row spacing increases, flow velocity reduction(34.4%-44.9%) and flow reduction(18.5%-47.4%) gradually decrease; and the bulk density reduction(0.5%-5.3%) and sediment interception increase initially and then decrease. In contrast, for a viscous debris flow, the flow reduction, flow velocity reduction, and sedimentation interception decrease gradually as the stem spacing increases. As row spacing increases,the flow velocity reduction, flow reduction, and sediment interception all increase initially and then decrease. A formula for the flow velocity of dilute debris flow after the filter strip was derived based on the energy conservation law and Bernoulli’s equation, confirming that debris flow movement is closely related to the degree of vegetation cover. this research strengthens the current understanding of the effectiveness of vegetation in debris flow disaster prevention and control and can guide practical applications.

Investigating Efficacy of “Working Memory training Software” on Students Working Memory

the aim of the present study is developing “Working Memory training Software”, and investigating its content validity and the efficacy of this computerized cognitive training on students working memory. this study is in R & D research category, and it is performed in a semi-experimental design. Its data were collected from students of the third grade (30), fourth grade (30), and fifth grade (12) of primary school. After specifying the software content validity by asking expertise opinions, and investigating these opinions through Spearman test (rs = 1), these children attended in intervention program for 10 sessions. the subtests of working memory in “tehran-Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale” and “Wechsler intelligence scale for children” were conducted in all three groups on the pre-test and post-test. After elimination of the pre-test effect, Paired-Samples t-test on total scores of subtests of working memory in “tehran-Stanford Binet Intelligence Scale” (t = 10.869, df = 71, r = 0.967 & P telligence scale for children” (t = 16.809, df = 71, r = 0.983 & P t difference in post-test scores. Based on this study the Working Memory training Software has proper psychometric properties and causes significant improvement in students working memory performance.

there are some attributes in software architecture which can not be assigned to a specific component or layer. So one of the main concerns in architectural designing is making use of these attributes. It is tried to separate these cross cutting concerns from software architecture by presenting a model in this *** this model not only the cross cutting concerns are separated from the architecture, but also these attributes are divided into two categories as: functional and none functional each of which placed in different layers. Additionally, this model proposes a method for expressing crosscutting concerns by extending the xADL 2.0 architecture describing language. One of the most important benefits of this method is that it doesn’t create any changes in main architecture.

Garden pea productivity and qualities are hampered in zinc(Zn),boron(B),and molybdenum(Mo)deficient ***,the combination of micronutrients(i.e.,Zn,B,and Mo)and rhizobium is necessary to increase the productivity and quality of garden peas,since this management for garden peas is neglected in ***,the present study was made to assess the effectiveness of rhizobium inoculant singly or in combination with the micronutrients(i.e.,Zn,B,and Mo)on growth,yield,nutrient uptake,and quality of garden *** were:t_(1)=Control,t_(2)=Rhizobium inoculation at 50 g/kg seed,t_(3)=t_(2)+Zn_(3)Mo1,t_(4)=t_(2)+B_(2)Mo1,t_(5)=t_(2)+Zn_(3)B_(2),t_(6)=t_(2)+Zn_(3)B_(2)Mo1 and t_(7)=Zn_(3)B_(2)*** treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design and repeated all treatments in three *** application of 3 kg Zn,2 kg B,and 1 kg Mo ha^(−1)with inoculation of Rhizobium at 50 g kg^(−1)seed(t_(6))facilitated to increase of 44.8%in the green pod and 29.7%seed yield over *** same treatment contributed to attaining the maximum nodulation(25.3 plant^(−1)),Vitamin C(43.5 mg 100 g^(−1)),protein content(22.2%),and nutrient uptake as well as accumulation in garden *** all treatment combinations,treatment t_(6)was found superior to others based on microbial activities,soil fertility,and *** results of the study found that the application of 3 kg Zn,2 kg B,and 1 kg Mo ha^(−1)in combination with Rhizobium inoculation(50 g kg^(−1)seed)can improve the yield and quality of garden *** results of the study have the potential for the areas,where there is no use of Rhizobium inoculant or Zn,B,and Mo fertilizer for cultivation of garden pea.

Kinetic Analysis of Isothermal Leaching of Zinc from Zinc Plant Residue

the sulfuric acid leaching of zinc plant residues was studied in an attempt to find a suitable hydrometallurgical method for zinc recovery. the parameters evaluated consist of reaction time, Solid-to-liquid-ratio, reaction temperature, agitation rate and pH. the results of kinetic analysis of the leaching data under various experimental conditions indicated that there is a reaction controlled by the solution transport of protons through the porous product layer with activation energy of about 1 kJ/mol for different constant solid to liquid ratios. Based on the shrinking core model (SCM), the following semiempirical rate equation was established:1-3(1-a)2/3+2(1-a)=0.001187×[H+]0.016×[(S/L)]-1.34×exp(-1/Rt) ×t. On the other hand, activation energy was obtained from a model-free method using isothermal measurements. Values for activation energy were calculated as a result of the conversion function with an average of 2.9 kJ/mol. this value is close to that determined previously, using shrinking core model (SCM).
