Biotic and abiotic factors control aboveground biomass(AGB)and the structure of forest *** study analyses the variation of AGB and stand structure of evergreen broadleaved forests among six ecoregions of Vietnam.A data set of 1731-ha plots from 52 locations in undisturbed old-growth forests was *** results indicate that basal area and AGB are closely correlated with annual precipitation,but not with annual temperature,evaporation or hours of *** area and AGB are positively correlated with trees>30 cm *** areas surveyed(52.6%)in these old-growth forests had AGB of 100–200 Mg ha^-1;5.2%had AGB of 400–500 Mg ha^-1,and 0.6%had AGB of>800 Mg ha^-*** percent of the areas surveyed had stand densities of 300–600 ***^-1,and 64%had basal areas of 20–40 m^2 ha^-*** is an important factor influencing the AGB of old-growth,evergreen broadleaved forests in *** causing the loss of large-diameter trees(e.g.,>100 cm DBH)affects AGB but may not seriously affect stand density.

to investigate diagnostic accuracy of 2-hour protocol of rest thallium-201/stress technetium-99m sestamibi dual-isotope myocardial perfusion SPECt in chronic coronary artery disease. Sixty-seven patients with suspected CAD were enrolled in the prospective study. All patients underwent myocardial perfusion scintigraphy in SPECt with dual isotopes of tl-201 and dipyridamole stress tc-99m sestamibi. Rest and stress imaging protocol were performed in 2 hours by dose of 3 mCi tl-201 and 25 mCi tc-99m sestamibi. the acquisition parameters includes LEHR collimator, energy peak of 72 and 167 keV for tl-201 and 140 keV for tc-99m, 180-degree rotation from RAO to LPO, matrix size 64?64, and 25second/frame/64 frames. the 20-segment model of left ventricle was used in automatic quantitation software. Coronary angiography was used as gold standard. CAD was defined as 50% of lumen stenosis on coronary angiography. Rest tl-201/stress tc-99m sestamibi dual-isotope SPECt demonstrated a sensitivity of 94.59% and specificity of 70%, positive predictive value of 79.54% and negative predictive value of 91.3% in detection of coronary artery disease. Sensitivity and specificity for detecting multi-vessel coronary artery disease were 82.75% and 81.57% for the left anterior descending, 77.77% and 91.83% for left circumflex and 94.11% and 82% for right coronary artery. 2-hour protocol of rest thallium-201/stress technetium-99m sestamibi dual-isotope myocardial perfusion SPECt has high sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value in detecting chronic coronary artery disease with greater than 50% stenosis assessed by coronary angiography. Moreover, this imaging protocol gives high imaging quality, time-saving and convenience.

Conductivity s and thermal conductivity k are directly related to carrier concentration while Seebeck coefficient S is inversely proportional to carrier ***,improving thermoelectric(tE)performance is ***,the first-time analysis of secondary phase-controlled tE performance in terms of density-of-state effective mass m*d,weighted mobility mw and quality factor B is discussed in ZnO *** results show that the secondary spinel phase Ga2O_(3)(ZnO)9 not only impacts on k but also on s and S at high temperature,while the effect of carrier concentration seem to be dominant at low *** the high-spinel-segregation sample,a compensation of dopant atoms from the spinel to substitutional sites in the ZnO matrix at high temperature leads to a low decreased rate of temperaturedependent m**** compensation process also induces a band sharpening,a small mw reduction,and a large B *** a result,In and Ga co-doped ZnO bulk with the highest spinel segregation achieves the greatest PF improvement by 112.8%,owing to enhanced Seebeck coefficient by 110%as compared to the good Zn-substitution sample.

We developed a ground observation system for solid precipitation using two-dimensional video disdrometer (2DVD). Among 16,010 particles observed by the system, around 10% of them were randomly sampled and manually classified into five classes which are snowflake, snowflake-like, intermediate, graupel-like, and graupel. At first, each particle was represented as a vector of 72 features containing fractal dimension and box-count to represent the complexity of particle shape. Feature analysis on the dataset clarified the importance of fractal dimension and box-count features for characterizing particles varying from snowflakes to graupels. On the other hand, performance evaluation of two-class classification by Support Vector Machine (SVM) was conducted. the experimental results revealed that, by selecting only 10 features out of 72, the average accuracy of classifying particles into snowflakes and graupels could reach around 95.4%, which had not been achieved by previous studies.

β-turn is one of the most important reverse turns because of its role in protein folding. Many computational methods have been studied for predicting β-turns and β-turn types. However, due to the imbalanced dataset, the performance is still inadequate. In this study, we proposed a novel over-sampling technique FOSt to deal with the class-imbalance problem. Experimental results on three standard benchmark datasets showed that our method is comparable with state-of-the-art methods. In addition, we applied our algorithm to five benchmark datasets from UCI Machine Learning Repository and achieved significant improvement in G-mean and Sensitivity. It means that our method is also effective for various imbalanced data other than β-turns and β-turn types.

Dermatitis artefacta is a rare and difficult condition for diagnosis and treatment, with the highest incidence of onset in late adolescence to early adult life. Most patients are young women who have a personality disorder; borderline features are common and the patient’ s denial of psychological distress makes management and treatment difficult. Patients use a variety of means to cause the skin changes. Clinical presentation of the skin lesions does not conform to those of known dermatoses and are located on easily reached parts of the skin. We report an unusual case of a 72- year- old woman with symmetrical changes under the breasts and in the right inguinal region. the lesions were composed partly of haemorrhagic round lesions and partly of scars. A skin biopsy was taken and consultations with the psychiatrist, internist and the patient’ s family led to the diagnosis of self- induced dermatitis. the skin lesions were covered by occlusion techniques and the lesions improved very rapidly. the patient was discharged from the hospital under psychiatric and family care.

OBJECtIVE: to compare umbilical cord and maternal serum peak gentamicin concentration, gentamicin elimination, and clinical outcomes between women who received once-daily compared with standard, thrice-daily dosing for clinical chorioamnionitis. MEtHODS: We randomly assigned 38 laboring women, at least 34 weeks gestation, with clinical chorioamnionitis, into 1 of 2 gentamicin dosing groups: 5.1 mg/kg every 24 hours (once-daily; n = 18), or 120 mg followed by 80 mg every 8 hours (standard; n = 20). We measured maternal serum peak and delivery gentamicin concentrations and cord serum levels at delivery. Polynomial curve fitting was used to summarize gentamicin elimination. We also compared maternal and neonatal outcomes. RESULtS: Demographic characteristics of the 2 groups were similar. Median maternal peak gentamicin levels were higher with once-daily (18.2 μg/mL) compared with standard dosing (7.1 μg/mL) (P ternal serum levels decreased below 2 μg/mL by 10 hours in the once-daily group and by 5 hours in the standard dosing group. Extrapolated peak cord serum levels were 6.9 μg/mL in the once-daily and 2.9 μg/mL in the standard dosing arm. Cord levels decreased below 2 μg/mL by 10 hours in the once-daily and by 5 hours in the standard dosing group. We found no differences in maternal or neonatal outcomes. CONCLUSION: Peak maternal serum gentamicin levels ranged from 13 to 25 μg/mL after a dose of 5.1 mg/kg. Single-dose gentamicin resulted in fetal serum peak levels that were closer to optimal neonatal values. Gentamicin clearance in the term fetus was similar to published values for the newborn infant. No adverse effects of high-dose therapy were noted.
