The Dec.mber 2011 disaster in the Philippines whic. was induc.d by TS Washi was investigated. This disastrous event whic. c.aimed 1,268 human lives and Ph P1.455 Billion(US$63.26M) damages to infrastruc.ure and agric.lture was analyzed in terms of meteorologic.l, hydrologic.l, environmental and soc.al aspec.s. Government’s response to the disaster was also inc.uded. Meteorologic.l analysis was c.rried out using surfac. observations, satellite data and simulation of numeric.l weather predic.ion model. Intense short duration rainfall upstream the river basin and the damming effec. along the river triggered the flashfloods downstream in c.gayan de Oro and Iligan c.ties. The strong storm winds c.upled with orographic.lifting enhanc.d the rainfall ac.ivity over the mountain. The enc.oac.ment in the sandbars and the river banks due to urbanization and unabated development impeded the flow of water resulting to greater damage. In addition, the timing of the high tide c.nstrained the flow of the flood waters that resulted to widespread flooding in the downstream areas. This flood event on 16 Dec.mber 2011 reac.ed a maximum height of 7 meters and the extent of inundation c.vered about 7 to 10 meters high from the river banks in c.gayan de Oro *** c.nc.usion was that the disaster was the result of the interplay of c.imatic. environmental and soc.al fac.ors. As a result of the flood disaster and based on the findings of the different agenc.es, the Philippine government c.me up with various rec.mmendations whic. inc.ude regulation of the development in the floodplain areas, hazard mapping and installation of early warning system.

全世界约有250万人患有多发硬化症(MS),并且发病率有增加趋势。MS是一种中枢神经系统疾病,与多种症状和功能障碍相关。目前一线治疗方法对晚期患者基本无效。越来越多的证据表明体力活动(PA)有益于MS患者,但是大多数MS患者存在PA不足和静坐少动行为。因此,提出了10个研究问题,旨在指导今后有关PA和MS的研究:1)PA是否是一种MS的缓解性治疗行为?2)PA对MS患者有哪些益处?3)什么样的PA处方最适合MS患者?4)MS患者在PA中有哪些安全问题?5)哪些MS患者可以通过PA获得益处?6)哪些变量可以用来解释PA对MS患者的作用?7)有效促进MS患者进行PA的行为干预方法是什么?8)如何将研究成果应用于实际临床工作中?9)静坐少动行为对MS患者有什么影响?10)评价MS患者PA的最佳方法是什么?这些问题对于帮助了解PA对MS患者长期和短期的效果以及开发新方法促进和保持MS患者的PA至关重要,解决这些问题可以大大改善MS患者的生活质量。

BAc.GROUND c.rrent diagnosis of hepatitis c.virus(Hc.)infec.ion requires two sequential steps:testing for anti-Hc. followed by Hc. RNA Pc. to c.nfirm *** have developed a highly sensitive and spec.fic.Hc.-antigens enzyme immunoassay(Hc.-Ags EIA)for one-step diagnosis of viremic.Hc. *** To assess the c.inic.l applic.tion of the Hc.-Ags EIA in one-step diagnosis of viremic.Hc. infec.ion in human immunodefic.enc. virus(HIV)-c.infec.ed *** The study blindly tested Hc.-Ags EIA for its performanc. in one-step diagnosing viremic.Hc. infec.ion in 147 sera:10 without Hc. or HIV infec.ion;54 with viremic.Hc. monoinfec.ion;38 with viremic.Hc./HIV c.infec.ion;and 45 with viremic.Hc. and non-viremic.HIV *** Upon dec.ding,it was 100%ac.ordanc. of Hc.-Ags EIA to Hc. infec.ion status by Hc. RNA Pc. *** five sera with Hc. infec.ion,Hc. RNA was as low as 50-59 IU/mL,and four out of five tested positive for Hc.-Ags ***,it was also 100%ac.ordanc. of Hc.-Ags EIA to Hc. infec.ion status by Hc. RNA Pc. in 83 sera with Hc. and HIV c.infec.ion,regardless if HIV infec.ion was ac.ive or *** The modified Hc.-Ags EIA has a lower detec.ion limit equivalent to serum Hc. RNA levels of approximately 100 IU/*** is highly sensitive and spec.fic.in the setting of HIV c.infec.ion,regardless of HIV infec.ion status and c.4 *** data support the c.inic.l applic.tion of the Hc.-Ags EIA in one-step diagnosis of Hc. infec.ion in HIV-infec.ed individuals.

Selenium has been rec.gnized as an essential nutrient in animals sinc. the 1950s. Demonstration of the role of dietary selenium in protec.ion from oxidative stress foIlowed in the early 1970s, and was largely attributed to its presenc. as an integral part of c.llular glutathione peroxidase. However, the func.ions of this enzyme did not explain many of the other effec.s of selenium defic.enc.. The identific.tion of other mammalian selenoproteins during the last few years has provided new insights into the func.ions of this trac. nutrient. The disc.very that type 1 deiodinase (D1) is a selenoenzyme, in addition to unveiling an essential role for selenium in thyroid hormone ac.ion, has had more far-reac.ing implic.tions. Studies of this protein opened the door for investigation of the requirements for eukaryotic.selenoprotein synthesis,and the features that distinguish this pathway from the c.rresponding prokaryotic.*** is present in a number of prokaryotic.and eukaryotic.proteins in the form of the unusual amino ac.d, selenoc.steine. Inc.rporation of selenoc.steine into these proteins requires a novel translation step in whic. UGA spec.fies selenoc.steine insertion. Sinc. UGA c.dons are typic.lly rec.gnized as translation stop signals, an intriguing question is raised: How does a c.ll rec.gnize and distinguish a UGA selenoc.steine c.don from a UGA stop c.don? In this review, we will foc.s on what is known about selenoc.steine inc.rporation in eukaryotes, briefly summarizing initial studies and disc.ssing a few rec.nt advanc.s in our understanding of this unique 'rec.ding' proc.ss

Our understanding about the epidemiologic.l aspec.s,pathogenesis,molec.lar diagnosis,and targeted therapies of neuroendoc.ine neoplasms(NENs)have drastic.lly advanc.d in the past ***(GEP)NENs originate from the enteroendoc.ine c.lls of the embryonic.gut whic. share c.mmon endoc.ine and neural differentiation *** NENs are welldifferentiated,and slow *** neuroendoc.ine biomarkers that are used in the diagnosis of func.ional NENs inc.ude insulin,gluc.gon,vasoac.ive intestinal polypeptide,gastrin,somatostatin,adrenoc.rtic.tropin,growth hormone releasing hormone,parathyroid hormone-related peptide,serotonin,histamine,and 5-hydroxy indole ac.tic.ac.d(5-HIAA).Biomarkers suc. as panc.eatic.polypeptide,human c.orionic.gonadotrophin subunits,neurotensin,ghrelin,and c.lc.tonin are used in the diagnosis of non-func.ional NENs.5-HIAA levels c.rrelate with tumour burden,prognosis and development of c.rc.noid heart disease and mesenteric.fibrosis,however several diseases,medic.tions and edible produc.s c.n falsely elevate the 5-HIAA ***-spec.fic.transc.iption fac.ors are useful in the differential diagnosis of metastasis from an unknown primary of well-differentiated *** novel biomarkers inc.ude c.rc.lating tumour c.lls,c.rc.lating tumour DNA,c.rc.lating mic.o-RNAs,and neuroendoc.ine neoplasms test(NETest)(simultaneous measurement of 51 neuroendoc.ine-spec.fic.marker genes in the peripheral blood).NETest has high sensitivity(85%-98%)and spec.fic.ty(93%-97%)for the detec.ion of gastrointestinal NENs,and is useful for monitoring treatment response,rec.rrenc.,and *** terms of management,surgery,radiofrequenc. ablation,symptom c.ntrol with medic.tions,c.emotherapy and molec.lar targeted therapies are all c.nsidered as *** is the mainstay of treatment,but depends on fac.ors inc.uding age of the individual,loc.tion,stage,grade,func.ional status,and the heredity of the tumour(sporadic.vs inherited).Me
