A mixed behaviour equilibrium model with mode choice and its application to the endogenous demand of automated vehicles

This study develops a mixed behavioural equilibrium model with explicit consideration of mode choice(MBE-MC)in a transportation system where fully automated vehicles(AV)coexist with conventional human-driven vehicles(HV).For the mode choice,travellers select among three options,following a logit modal split:driving their private HV,or taking an AV mobility service provided by either a firm or the *** the route choice,the HV drivers follow the random utility maximisation principle while central agents route the AV passengers following the Cournot Nash(firm agent)or Social Optimal(government agent)*** consider two types of travel costs(*** time and monetary travel cost)to characterise the new features(*** link capacity and reduced value of time)of the mixed AVeHV transportation *** model the MBE-MC problem in a combined modeeroute choice framework and formulate it as a route-based variational inequality(VI)*** show the equivalence between the VI formulation and the MBE-MC problem,and the existence of a solution to the MBE-MC ***,we modify a partial linearisation algorithm for solving the proposed *** results validate the equilibrium conditions and show the efficacy of the new model in capturing the features of the mixed AVeHV transportation *** impact patterns of different parameters on(1)the network performance in terms of AV share and system cost and(2)on the solution efficiency are analysed.

A multispectral camera records image data in various wavelengths across the electromagnetic spectrum to acquire additional information that a conventional camera fails to *** the advent of high-resolution image sensors and color filter technologies,multispectral imagers in the visible wavelengths have become popular with increasing commercial viability in the last ***,multispectral imaging in longwave infrared(LWIR,8-14μm)is still an emerging area due to the limited availability of optical materials,filter technologies,and high-resolution *** from LWIR multispectral cameras can capture emission spectra of objects to extract additional information that a human eye fails to capture and thus have important applications in precision agriculture,forestry,medicine,and object *** this work,we experimentally demonstrate an LWIR multispectral image sensor with three wavelength bands using optical elements made of an aluminum(Al)-based plasmonic filter array sandwiched in germanium(Ge).To realize the multispectral sensor,the filter arrays are then integrated into a three-dimensional(3D)printed wheel stacked on a low-resolution monochrome thermal *** prototype device is calibrated using a blackbody and its thermal output has been enhanced with computer vision *** applying a state-of-theart deep learning method,we have also reconstructed multispectral images to a better spatial ***,our work demonstrates a versatile spectral thermography technique for detecting target signatures in the LWIR range and other advanced spectral analyses.

An Efficient Viewport-Dependent 360 VR System Based on Adaptive Tiled Streaming

Recent advances in 360 video streaming technologies have enhanced the immersive experience of video streaming ***,there is immense potential for the application of 360 video encoding formats to achieve highly immersive virtual reality(VR)***,360 video streaming requires considerable bandwidth,and its performance depends on several ***,the optimization of 360 video bitstreams according to viewport texture is ***,we propose an adaptive solution for VR systems using viewport-dependent tiled 360 video *** increase the degrees of freedom of users,the moving picture experts group(MPEG)recently defined three degrees plus of freedom(3DoF+)and six degrees of freedom(6DoF)to support free user movement within camera-captured *** proposed method supports 6DoF to allow users to move their heads ***,we propose viewport-dependent tiled 360 video streaming based on users’head *** proposed system generates an adaptive bitstream using tile sets that are selected according to a parameter set of user’s viewport *** extracted bitstream is then transmitted to the user’s *** decoding,the user’s viewport is generated and rendered on VR head-mounted display(HMD).Furthermore,we introduce certain approaches to reduce the motion-to-photon *** experimental results demonstrated that,in contrast with non-tiled streaming,the proposed method achieved high-performance 360 video streaming for VR systems,with a 25.89%BD-rate saving for Y-PSNR and 61.16%for decoding time.

Integrated NLRP3,AIM2,NLRC4,Pyrin inflammasome activation and assembly drive PANoptosis

Inflammasomes are important sentinels of innate immune defense;they sense pathogens and induce the cell death of infected cells,playing key roles in inflammation,development,and *** inflammasome sensors detect and respond to specific pathogen-and damage-associated molecular patterns(PAMPs and DAMPs,respectively)by forming a multiprotein complex with the adapters ASC and *** disease,cells are exposed to several PAMPs and DAMPs,leading to the concerted activation of multiple ***,the molecular mechanisms that integrate multiple inflammasome sensors to facilitate optimal host defense remain ***,we discovered that simultaneous inflammasome activation by multiple ligands triggered multiple types of programmed inflammatory cell death,and these effects could not be mimicked by treatment with a pure ligand of any single ***,NLRP3,AIM2,NLRC4,and Pyrin were determined to be members of a large multiprotein complex,along with ASC,caspase-1,caspase-8,and RIPK3,and this complex drove ***,this multiprotein complex was released into the extracellular space and retained as multiple *** extracellular inflammasome particles could induce inflammation after their engulfment by neighboring ***,our findings define a previously unknown regulatory connection and molecular interaction between inflammasome sensors,which drives the assembly of a multiprotein complex that includes multiple inflammasome sensors and cell death *** discovery of critical interactions among NLRP3,AIM2,NLRC4,and Pyrin represents a new paradigm in understanding the functions of these molecules in innate immunity and inflammasome biology as well as identifying new therapeutic targets for NLRP3-,AIM2-,NLRC4-and Pyrin-mediated diseases.

Effects of the V/III Ratio of a Low-Temperature GaN Buffer Layer on the Structural and Optical Properties of a-GaN Films Grown on r-Plane Sapphire Substrates by MOCVD

We investigate the effects of the V/III ratio of a low-temperature GaN buffer layer on the growth of the overlaying nonpolar-plane GaN film grown on-plane sapphire by metal-organic chemical-vapor deposition(MOCVD).With other experimental conditions keeping fixed,the low-temperature GaN buffer layers are grown under various V/III ratios of 1000,3000,6000 and 9000,*** characteristics of the-plane GaN films are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy,high resolution x-ray diffraction,Raman spectrum,and low temperature *** results show that the V/III ratio of the buffer layer has significant effects on the crystal quality of the a-plane GaN film,and a V/III ratio of 6000 is found to be the most suitable condition to achieve pit-free flat GaN surface.

High-concentration dispersions of exfoliated MoS2 sheets stabilized by freeze-dried silk fibroin powder

Liquid-phase exfoliation （LPE） is an attractive method for the scaling-up of exfoliated MoS2 sheets compared to chemical vapor deposition and mechanical cleavage. However, the MoS2 nanosheet yield from LPE is too small for practical applications. We report a facile method for the scaling-up of exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets using freeze-dried silk fibroin powders. Compared to MoS2 dispersion in the absence of silk fibroin powder, sonicated MoS2 dispersions with silk fibroin powder （MoSJSilk dispersion） show noticeably higher exfoliated MoS2 nanosheet yields, with suspended MoS2 concentrations in MoS2/Silk dispersions sonicated for 2 and 5 h of 1.03 and 1.39 ***-1, respectively. The MoS2 concentration in the MoS2/Silk dispersion after centrifugation above 10,000 rpm is more than four times that without the silk fibroin. The size of the dispersed silk fibroin is controlled by the change of centrifugation rate, showing the removal of silk fibroin above tens of micrometers in size after centrifugation at 2,000 rpm. Size-controlled silk fibroin biomolecules combined with MoS2 nanosheets are expected to increase the practical use of such materials in fields related to tissue engineering, biosensors and electrochemical electrodes. Atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy provide the height of the MoS2 nanosheets spin-cast from MoS2/Silk dispersions, showing thicknesses of 3--6 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction indicate that the outermost surface layer of the hydrophobic MoS2 crystals interact with oxygen-containing functional groups that exist in the hydrophobic part of silk fibroins. The amphiphilic properties of silk fibroin combined with the MoS2 nanosheets stabilize dispersions by enhancing solvent-material interactions. The large quantities of exfoliated MoS2 nanosheets suspended in the as-synthesized dispersions can be utilized for the fabrication of vapor and electrochemical devices requiring high MoS2 nanosheets contents.

Anti-cancer effect of ethylacetate fraction from Orostachys japonicus on HT-29 human colon cancer cells by induction of apoptosis through caspase-dependent signaling pathway

Objective: To investigate the anti-colon cancer effects of ethylacetate fraction from Orostachys japonicus(0. japonicus) on HT-29 cancer cells. Methods: The viability of HT-29 cells was assayed by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfophenyl)-2 H-tetrazolium(MTS) method. Apoptosis induction and cell cycle inhibition were confirmed by fluorescein isothiocyanate and propidium iodide staining using flow *** changes in the nucleus were observed, using a fluorescence microscope with4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole(DAPI) nuclear staining. The expression levels of the upstream and downstream proteins involved in the anti-cancer mechanism were confirmed by Western blotting. Results: After treating HT-29 cells with different concentrations of ethylacetate fraction from O. japonicus, the viability of cells decreased in a concentration-dependent manner,while apoptosis induction and apoptotic body formation increased. Cell cycle analysis showed that the arrest occurred at the sub-G_1 and S phase. Among the upstream and downstream proteins involved in anti-cancer activity, the level of B cell lymphoma-2 decreased, and the bcl-2-associated x protein increased. The level of pro-caspase-3, pro-caspase-8, and pro-caspase-9 decreased, while the level of cleaved-caspase-3, cleaved-caspase-8, and cleaved-caspase-9 increased. Moreover, the phosphorylation, that is, activation of extracellular signal regulated kinase 1/2, Jun-N-terminal kinase, and p38 increased. Conclusions: Combining the above results, it is thought that the survival of HT-29 cells is suppressed by ethylacetate fraction from0. japonicus through mitochondrial regulation-induced caspase cascade activation, induction of apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.

Artemisia capillaris Thunberg is a medicinal plant used as a traditional medicine in many cultures. It is an effective remedy for liver problems including hepatitis. Recent pharmacological reports have indicated that Artemisia species can exert various neurological effects. Previously, we reported a memory-enhancing effect of Artemisia species. However, the mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective effect of A. capillaris(AC) are still unknown. In the present study, we investigated the effect of an ethanol extract of AC on ischemic brain injury in a mouse model of transient forebrain ischemia. The mice were treated with AC for seven days, beginning one day before induction of transient forebrain ischemia. Behavioral deficits were investigated using the Y-maze. Nissl and Fluoro-jade B staining were used to indicate the site of injury. To determine the underlying mechanisms for the drug, we measured acetylcholinesterase activity. AC(200 mg·kg-1) treatment reduced transient forebrain ischemia-induced neuronal cell death in the hippocampal CA1 region. The AC-treated group also showed significant amelioration in the spontaneous alternation of the Y-maze test performance, compared to that in the untreated transient forebrain ischemia group. Moreover, AC treatment showed a concentration-dependent inhibitory effect on acetylcholinesterase activity in vitro. Finally, the effect of AC on forebrain ischemia was blocked by mecamylamine, a nonselective nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist. Our results suggested that in a model of forebrain ischemia, AC protected against neuronal death through the activation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
