Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) are a complex group of diseases involving alterations in mucosal immunity and gastrointestinal physiology during both initiation and progressive phases of the *** the core of these alterations are endothelial cells,whose continual adjustments in structure and function coordinate vascular supply,immune cell emigration,and regulation of the tissue *** of the endothelium in IBD(angiogenesis),mediated by inflammatory growth factors,cytokines and chemokines,is a hallmark of active gut disease and is closely related to disease *** endothelium in newly formed or inflamed vessels differs from that in normal vessels in the production of and response to inflammatory cytokines,growth factors,and adhesion molecules,altering coagulant capacity,barrier function and blood cell recruitment in *** review examines the roles of the endothelium in the initiation and propagation of IBD pathology and distinctive features of the intestinal endothelium contributing to these conditions.

Mass spectrometry imaging(MSI)plays a pivotal role in investigating the chemical nature of complex systems that underly our understanding in biology and *** fields of life science such as proteomics,lipidomics and metabolomics benefit from the ability to simultaneously identify molecules and pinpoint their distribution across a ***,achieving the necessary submicron spatial resolution to distinguish chemical differences between individual cells and generating intact molecular spectra is still a challenge with any single imaging ***,we developed an approach that combines two MSI techniques,matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization(MALDI)and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry(ToF-SIMS),one with low spatial resolution but intact molecular spectra and the other with nanometer spatial resolution but fragmented molecular signatures,to predict molecular MSI spectra with submicron spatial resolution.

Implicit-explicit （IMEX） linear multistep methods are popular techniques for solving partial differential equations （PDEs） with terms of different types. While fixed timestep versions of such schemes have been developed and studied, implicit-explicit schemes also naturally arise in general situations where the temporal smoothness of the solution changes. In this paper we consider easily implementable variable step-size implicit-explicit （vSIMEX） linear multistep methods for time-dependent PDEs. Families of order-p, pstep vSIMEX schemes are constructed and analyzed, where p ranges from 1 to 4. The corresponding schemes are simple to implement and have the property that they reduce to the classical IMEX schemes whenever constant time step-sizes are imposed. The methods are validated on the Burgers＇ equation. These results demonstrate that by varying the time step-size, vSIMEX methods can outperform their fixed time step counterparts while still maintaining good numerical behavior.

Protein secondary structure prediction and high-throughput drug screen data mining are two important applications in bioinformatics. The data is represented in sparse feature spaces and can be unrepresentative of future data. There is certainly some noise in the data and there may be significant noise. Supervised learners in this context will display their inherent bias toward certain solutions, generally solutions that fit the training set well. In this paper, we first describe an ensemble approach using subsampling that scales well with dataset size. A sufficient number of ensemble members using subsamples of the data can yield a more accurate classifier than a single classifier using the entire dataset. Experiments on several datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. We report results from the KDD Cup 2001 drug discovery dataset in which our approach yields a higher weighted accuracy than the winning entry. We then ex-tend our ensemble approach to create an over-generalized classifier for prediction by reducing the individual subsample size. The ensemble strategy using small subsamples has the effect of averaging over a wider range of hypotheses. We show that both protein secondary structure prediction and drug discovery prediction can be improved by the use of over-generalization, specifically through the use of ensembles of small subsamples.

There are many differences and challenges that employers face while managing employees in the current work force. Our present day workforce is made up of a diverse group of people： Matures, also known as veterans （age 55＋）, Baby Boomers （age 45-54）, Generation X （age 35-44） and Generation Y also known as Millennial （age 18-34）. The differences and challenges among these groups will be evident when reviewing recognition and praise, managerial styles, subordinate responses to generational leadership. Companies are stepping back and looking more holistically at how to develop programs and deploy technology that will speak to four distinct generations in the workforce （Sprague, 2008）. Each generation has their own definition of work ethic, responsibility, and performance. The best way to deal with the multi-generations is coming up with ways that make everybody feel like they are members of a team, thus helping them to learn how to develop a better way of communication than what exists between them now. If everybody is a part of a team, then they are all sharing the benefits that the other generations can bring to the table, making them a strong entity. Matures and boomers can become mentors to the X and Y＇s, and the X and Y＇s can then share and impart their knowledge of technology to the Matures and boomers. Companies in today＇s workplace must learn a better way to understand the values of the four generations, for it is very important in understanding and guiding these people in the workplace. Without this proper understanding, the guidance and alliance that managers are hoping to achieve will be even longer in the making and then one, possibly two, whole generations will be gone from the workforce and their knowledge and skill gone as well.

Axle load data are an essential input for pavement design,yet for most North American agencies,there is uncertainty about the quality of axle load data obtained from weigh-inmotion(WIM)systems,the applicability of these data for pavement design,and potential opportunities to integrate axle load data from disparate *** article presents a novel and practical methodology to evaluate the quality of axle load data from WIM systems and roadside weigh scales through a series of hierarchical analyses designed to test data *** applied using data from Manitoba,Canada,the methodology quantified the uncertainty of axle loads measured at the weigh scales and piezo-quartz WIM,concluding that both could be used for pavement design *** collected at piezo-polymer WIM sites exhibited poorer data validity;however,application of site-specific temperature correction factors significantly improved data validity at these *** article describes how other data quality dimensions,including spatial coverage,temporal coverage,and long-term data availability,could be considered when determining the suitability of disparate axle load data sources for pavement *** of the methodology enables a pragmatic evaluation of the quality and limitations of commonlyavailable axle load data,revealing uncertainties and data needs relevant for pavement design practice.

Constant solutions to Yang-Baxter equation are investigated over Grassmann algebra for the case of 6-vertex R-matrix. The general classification of all possible solutions over Grassmann algebra and particular cases with 2,3,4 generators are studied. As distinct from the standard case, when R-matrix over number field can have a maximum 5 nonvanishing elements, we obtain over Grassmann algebra a set of new full 6-vertex solutions. The solutions leading to regular R-matrices which appear in weak Hopf algebras are considered.

1 Introduction As the human population grows,the livelihoods and well-being of a significant portion of humanity will depend even more on the ability of freshwater ecosystems to provide essential services(vörösmarty et al.,2010),which will require the maintenance of biodiversity in these freshwater systems(Dudgeon et al.,2006).There are many competing demands on the available water resources,such as potable water,fish and wildlife habitat,agriculture,industrial use,and recreation,that are driven by different sectors;even within a specific sector there can be diverging *** example,water management of the Upper Arkansas River in Colorado has been mandated by the 1949 Arkansas River Compact between the US states of Colorado and Kansas which has led to stream-aquifer issues(Taylor and Luckey,1974),water transfers from agriculture to urban(Howe et al.,1990),and competing recreational uses(Wollmuth et al.,1985;Arkansas Basin Roundtable,2017).The recent Upper Arkansas voluntary Flow Management Program tries to balance many users,including recreation by kayakers and rafters who want to maintain streamflow(at the Wellsville gauge)at or greater than 20 m3/s as well as anglers who want lower flows in the range of 7 to 11 m3/s to maintain fish habitat(Arkansas Basin Roundtable,2017).
