Transcriptome analysis in the beet webworm, Spoladea recurvalis （Lepidoptera： Crambidae）

The beet webworm, Spoladea recurvalis Fabricius, is a destructive pest on vegetable crops in tropics and subtropics; its main host plant is amaranth. It has become imperative to develop non-chemical methods to control S. recurvalis on amaranth. However, the lack of molecular information about this species has hindered the development of novel pest management strategies. In this study, high-throughput RNA sequencing covering de novo sequence assemblies, functional annotation of transcripts, gene function classification and enrichment was performed on S. recurvalis. Illumina sequencing generated a total of 120 435 transcript contigs ranging from 201 to 22 729 bases with a mean length of 688 bases. The assembled transcripts were subjected to Basic Local Alignment Search Tool- X （BLASTX） to obtain the annotations against non-redundant, Swiss-Prot, Clusters of Orthologous Groups （COG） and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes （KEGG） protein databases. A subset of 58 225 transcript sequences returned hits from known proteins in the National Center for Biotechnology Information database, and the majority of the transcript sequences had the highest number of hits for Danausplexippus （50.43%）. A total of 1217 Gene Ontology-level 3 annotations were assigned to 51 805 transcripts, while 39 650 transcripts were predicted as functional protein-coding genes in the COG database and 20 037 transcripts were enriched to KEGG pathways. We identified 40 putative genes related to pheromone production and reception in S. recurvalis, with the expression of one gene between 0.29 and 1141.79 fragments per kilo base per million （FPKM） reads. The transcriptome sequence of S. recurvalis is a first step toward offering a comprehensive genomic resource which would enable better understanding of molecular mechanisms to enable development of effective pest management practices for this species.

Wear behavior of asbestos-free eco-friendly composites for automobile brake materials

The goal of this work is to study the wear behavior of materials that have the potential to be used as brake pad materials under different contact loads and speeds instead of asbestos. The three different brake pad materials studied are flax fiber reinforced phenolic composites (FFRC), basalt fiber reinforced phenolic composites (BFRC), and flax/basalt reinforced hybrid phenolic composites (HFRC). A wear mechanism map was developed by using the fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm method (FCM) to study the wear mechanism of composites. The results showed BFRC to be a better brake pad material than the other fiber reinforced composites studied, because the good thermal characteristics and bonding nature of basalt fiber increased the wear resistance of BFRC considerably.

Enhancement of Natural Circulation Type Domestic Solar Hot Water System Performance by using a Wind Turbine

Performance improvement of existing 200 litres capacity natural convection type domestic solar hot water system is attempted.A two-stage centrifugal pump driven by a vertical axis windmill having Savonius type rotor is added to the fluid *** windmill driven pump circulates the water through the *** system with necessary instrumentation is tested over a *** on Natural Circulation System(NCS)mode and Wind Assisted System(WAS)mode are carried out during January,April,July and October,*** results of a clear day are *** average efficiency of 25-28% during NCS mode and 33-37% during WAS mode are *** higher wind velocities,higher collector flow rates and hence higher efficiencies are *** general,WAS mode provides improvements in efficiency when compared to NCS mode.

Adaptive grid methods are established as valuable computational technique in approximating effectively the solutions of problems with boundary or interior layers. In this paper,we present the analysis of an upwind scheme for singularly perturbed differential-difference equation on a grid which is formed by equidistributing arc-length monitor *** is shown that the discrete solution obtained converges uniformly with respect to the perturbation *** experiments illustrate in practice the result of convergence proved theoretically.

Feature Extraction and Classification of Plant Leaf Diseases Using Deep Learning Techniques

In India’s economy, agriculture has been the most significantcontributor. Despite the fact that agriculture’s contribution is decreasing asthe world’s population grows, it continues to be the most important sourceof employment with a little margin of difference. As a result, there is apressing need to pick up the pace in order to achieve competitive, productive,diverse, and long-term agriculture. Plant disease misinterpretations can resultin the incorrect application of pesticides, causing crop harm. As a result,early detection of infections is critical as well as cost-effective for *** diagnose the disease at an earlier stage, appropriate segmentation of thediseased component from the leaf in an accurate manner is critical. However,due to the existence of noise in the digitally captured image, as well asvariations in backdrop, shape, and brightness in sick photographs, effectiverecognition has become a difficult task. Leaf smut, Bacterial blight andBrown spot diseases are segmented and classified using diseased Apple (20),Cercospora (60), Rice (100), Grape (140), and wheat (180) leaf photos in thesuggested work. In addition, a superior segmentation technique for the ROIfrom sick leaves with living backdrop is presented here. Textural features of thesegmented ROI, such as 1st and 2nd order WPCA Features, are discoveredafter segmentation. This comprises 1st order textural features like kurtosis,skewness, mean and variance as well as 2nd procedure textural features likesmoothness, energy, correlation, homogeneity, contrast, and entropy. Finally,the segmented region of interest’s textural features is fed into four differentclassifiers, with the Enhanced Deep Convolutional Neural Network provingto be the most precise, with a 96.1% accuracy.

Age and outcomes of primary percutaneous intervention for ST elevation myocardial infarction in a tertiary center are we there yet？

Background Primary percutaneous intervention （PPCI） is the treatment of choice for ST elevation myocardial infarction （STEMI） but robust evidence in the very elderly is lacking. We compared PPCI outcomes between different age quartiles （quartile I 〈 60 years, quartile 2 〉 60 to 〈 70 years, quartile 3 〉 70 to 〈 80 years, quartile 4 〉 80 years）. Methods Retrospective observational analysis of our Morriston Tertiary Cardiac Center （Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board） patients from 2005 to 2010 with STEMI who underwent PPCI. Resnlts Of 434 patients, 57 （13%） were in quartile 4 （〉 80 years）. In older age quartiles, patients were less likely to receive a drug eluting stent （DES, P = 0.001） or glycoprotein IlbAIIa inhibitor （GPI, P 〈 0.0001）. Increase in age was associated with reduced time to survival （13-coefficient： -0.192, t： -3,70, 95%CI： --4.91 to -1.50, P 〈 0.0001） as was the presence of cardiogenic shock 03-coefficient： -0.194, t = 3.77, 95%CI： -5.26 to -1.65, P 〈 0.0001）. Use of GPI was associated with increased time to survival （p-coefficient： 0.138, t = 2.82, 95%CI： 1.58-8.58, P = 0.005） but older age quartiles were less likely to receive GPI （P 〈 0.0001）. In-hospital mortality （1.8% quartile 1, 3.6% quartile 2, 10.9% quartile 3 and 12.3% quartile 4, P = 0.002） and 1-year mortality （5.4% quartile 1, 5.5% quartile 2, 16.8% quartile 3 and 24.6% quartile 4, P 〈 0.0001, respectively） was significantly higher in older age quartiles. Conclusions Increased short term and intermediate term mortality is seen in the very elderly after PPCI. Age and cardiogenic shock were prognostic factors. Intervention should not be based on age alone and awareness regarding prognostic factors can help improve management.

Several kinds of novel azobenzene-containing polyelectrolytes with special molecular design have been developed from acryloyl chloride or epoxy based precursor polymers. The acryloyl chloride based precursor polymer, poly(acryloyl chloride), was prepared by free radical polymerization of acryloyl chloride. The azo polyelectrolytes were prepared by an esterification reaction between the precursor polymer and corresponding azo chromophores containing a reactive hydroxyl group, followed by hydrolysis of the unreacted acyl chloride groups. The epoxy based precursor polymer was prepared by the reaction between 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol diglycidyl ether and aniline, and postfunctionalized by azo coupling reaction to form azo polymers containing chromophores with ionizable groups. The polyelectrolytes were characterized by elemental analysis, H-1-NMR, IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photodynamic and photoresponsive properties, as well as self-assembly of these azo polyelectrolytes are reported in this paper([1]).

Processing and characterization of polymer precursor derived silicon oxycarbide ceramic foams and compacts

This work focused on the fabrication of silicon oxycarbide ceramic(SiOC)foams as well as dense compacts using poly(hydridomethylsiloxane)(PHMS)as a polymer *** room-temperature cross-linking of PHMS was achieved by the addition of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane(DABCO)with the release of hydrogen gas as a *** resulted in self-blowing of the polymer precursor at room temperature and thereby offered the possibility of producing SiOC foams without the need of any external blowing *** also reported the fabrication of crack-free silicon oxycarbide compacts by cold compaction and pyrolysis route using polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)as a processing ***-shaped pellets were pyrolysed at 1300℃in argon atmosphere with a ceramic yield of approximately 85%.Increased resistance to phase separation and crystallization up to 1400℃was attributed to the presence of large volume fraction of free carbon in the material which was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy.

Poly caprolactone/titanium dioxide nanofiber coating on AM50 alloy for biomedical application

Poly caprolactone(PCL)and Poly caprolactone/TiO_(2)(PCL/TiO_(2))composite nanofiber with different weight percentage compositions(2 wt%,4 wt%and 6 wt%)of TiO_(2)were prepared and coated over AM50 alloy using electrospinning *** surface morphology and elemental composition result confirms that the PCL/TiO_(2)composite nanofiber fiber were successfully electrospun on the surface of AM50 *** degradation behavior of PCL and PCL/6 wt%TiO_(2)coated AM50 alloy was studied by immersing in Simulated Body Fluid(SBF)*** electrochemical and cell proliferation studies reveals that the cellular behavior of PCL and PCL/6 wt%TiO_(2)composite nanofiber exhibited good support for cell proliferation with enhanced corrosion resistance of AM50 alloy in SBF solution.
