The aim of this study was to determine the source apportionment of dust fall around Lake Chini, Malaysia. Samples were collected monthly between December 2012 and March2013 at seven sampling stations located around Lake Chini. The samples were filtered to separate the dissolved and undissolved solids. The ionic compositions（NO-3, SO2-4, Cl-and NH＋4） were determined using ion chromatography（IC） while major elements（K, Na, Ca and Mg） and trace metals（Zn, Fe, Al, Ni, Mn, Cr, Pb and Cd） were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry（ICP-MS）. The results showed that the average concentration of total solids around Lake Chini was 93.49 ± 16.16 mg/（m2·day）. SO2-4, Na and Zn dominated the dissolved portion of the dust fall. The enrichment factors（EF） revealed that the source of the trace metals and major elements in the rain water was anthropogenic, except for Fe. Hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis（HACA） classified the seven monitoring stations and 16 variables into five groups and three groups respectively. A coupled receptor model, principal component analysis multiple linear regression（PCA-MLR）, revealed that the sources of dust fall in Lake Chini were dominated by agricultural and biomass burning（42%）,followed by the earth＇s crust（28%）, sea spray（16%） and a mixture of soil dust and vehicle emissions（14%）.

Application of Bioinspired Superhydrophobic Surfaces in Two-phase Heat Transfer Experiments

This paper addresses the potential to use Lotus leafbioinspired surfaces in applications involving heat transfer with phase change, namely pool boiling and spray impingement. Besides describing the role of bioinspired topographical features, using an innovative technique combining high-speed visualization and time-resolved infrared thermography, surface durability is also addressed. Water is used for pool boiling and for spray impingement systems （simplified as single droplet impact）, while HFE7000 is used in a pool boiling cooler for electronic components. Results show that surface durability is quickly compro- mised for water pool boiling applications, as the chemical treatment does not withstand high temperatures （T 〉 100 ℃） during long time intervals （3 h - 4 h）. For HFE7000 pool boiling （depicting lower saturation temperature - 34 ℃）, heat transfer en- hancement is governed by the topography. The regular hierarchical pattern of the bioinspired surfaces promotes the heat transfer coefficient to increase up to 22.2%, when compared to smooth surfaces, while allowing good control of the interaction mechanisms until a distance between micro-structures of 300 gm- 400 Ixm. Droplet impingement was studied for surface temperatures ranging between 60 ℃ - 100 ℃. The results do not support the use of superhydrophobic surfaces for cooling applications, but reveal great potential for other applications involving droplet impact on heated surfaces （e.g. metallurgy in- dustry）.

Ageing of single base propellants, extending over a storage period of more than 50 years, was investigated by X ray diffraction analysis. X ray degree of crystallinity and interplanar spacing were determined. Analysed was the effect of nitrogen content, degree of substitution (DOS) and diphenylamine (DPA) content on structural changes in propellants.

A. Peres constructed an example of particles entangled in the state of spin singlet. He claimed to have obtained the CHSH inequality and concluded that the violation of this inequality shows that in a measurement in which some variables are tested, other variables, not tested, have no defined value. In the present paper is proved that the correct conclusion of the violation of the CHSH inequality is different. It is proved that the classical calculus of probabilities of test results, obeying the Kolmogorov axioms, is unfit for the quantum formalism, dominated by probability amplitudes.

Degradation phenomena like wear and corrosion, may have their effects accelerated as components operate at high temperature. The aim of this work is to make an indirect evaluation of the influence of high temperature exposure on wear behavior of Ni coatings. A Ni-Cr-Mo-W alloy, was deposited with Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) process. An indirect approach based on the Ahrrenius relationship was used to evaluated long time exposures at high temperatures. To simulate longer exposures at lower temperatures, coatings were exposed to higher temperatures for the same time interval. So coatings were soaked in an air furnace at 650°C, 1000°C and 1200°C. Metal/metal wear behavior was evaluated by pin-on-disc tests. Pins were removed from the coatings by eletrodischarge machining and rubbed against a VC31 quenched and tempered tool steel. Two sets of wear tests were run at 2m/s, for different loads (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0Kg) and for different sliding distances (120, 720, 1080, 1440 and 1800m).Coatings characterization was done by scanning electronic microscopy and Vickers microhardness. Results showed as temperature is increased, coatings wear performance is altered, and this is associated with microstructural changes.

The importance of ecotype diversity on duckweed growth with and without salt stress

The pollution of freshwater ecosystems is threatening freshwater plant species diversity *** plants,such as the common duckweed(Lemna minor),are potentially sensitive to novel stressful *** test if ecotype diversity could increase resistance to stressful environments,I used seven *** populations and measured their growth rates with and without moderate salt stress across an ecotype diversity *** *** populations were grown over 5 months in 92 experimental mesocosms,either in ecotype monocultures or in polyculture with either one or three conspecific ecotypes(23 unique compositions).After growing the duckweed in unperturbed conditions(phase 1),the cultures were subjected to moderate salt stress(50 mmol/L NaCl)for several weeks(phase 2).The experiment was conducted in the presence of the natural epimicrobial community associated with the different *** phase 2,a subset of these algae added an unintentional second stressor to the *** ecotypes differed in their growth rates,the fastest growing at twice the rate of *** diversity context further shaped the ecotype growth *** polycultures showed higher abundances towards the end of the experiment,thus over time,as the environment deteriorated,ecotype diversity gained in *** findings show that within-species variation in growth rates can translate to a positive effect of ecotype diversity on population *** of *** to moderate salt levels did not significantly impact growth rates,although the effect may have been masked by reduced algal stress in the saline environments.

A facility and method for109 Cd radionuclide-induced energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescent(EDXRF) were developed to determine the Fe,Zn,Br,Rb,and Sr concentrations in the specimens of human prostatic *** of expressed prostatic fluid were obtained from 51 men(mean age 51 years,range 18–82 years) with apparently normal prostates using standard rectal massage *** values(M ± SEL) for concentration of trace elements(mg L^(-1)) in human prostate fluid were:Fe 9.04 ±1.21,Zn 573 ± 35,Br 3.58 ± 0.59,Rb 1.10 ± 0.08,and Sr B *** was shown that the results of trace element analysis in the micro-samples(20 l L) are sufficiently representative for assessment of the Fe,Zn,Br,and Rb concentration in the prostate *** facility for109 Cd radionuclide-induced EDXRF is comparatively compact and can be located in close proximity to the site of carrying out the massage *** means of Zn and Rb concentration obtained for prostate fluid agree well with median of reported *** the first time,the Fe and Br concentrations,as well as the upper limit of the Sr concentration,were determined in the human prostate fluid.

Primary hepatic peripheral T-cell lymphoma(H-PTCL) is one of the rarest forms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We report a patient who presented with worsening jaundice, abdominal pain, and vomiting. Laboratory values were significant for elevated total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, and liver aminotransferases. Following a liver biopsy, histopathology revealed several large dense clusters of atypical T-lymphocytes which were CD2+, CD3+, CD5+, CD7-, CD4+, CD8-, CD56-, CD57-, CD30+ by immunohistochemistry. The proliferation index was approximately 70% by labeling for ki67/mib1. The above histological profile was consistent with peripheral T-cell lymphoma of the liver. Epstein-Barr viral serology indicated a remote infection, a likely risk factor for PTCL. Bone marrow biopsy was negative for malignancy, further supporting hepatic origin.
