A Review of NILM Applications with Machine Learning Approaches

In recent years,Non-Intrusive Load.onitoring (NILM) has become an emerging approach that provid.s afford.bleenergy management solutions using aggregated.load.obtained.from a single smart meter in the power ***, by integrating Machine Learning (ML), NILM can efficiently use electrical energy and.offer less ofa burd.n for the energy monitoring process. However, cond.cted.research works have limitations for real-timeimplementation d.e to the practical issues. This paper aims to id.ntify the contribution of ML approaches tod.veloping a reliable Energy Management (EM) solution with NILM. Firstly, phases of the NILM are d.scussed.along with the research works that have been cond.cted.in the d.main. Second.y, the contribution of machinelearning approaches in three aspects is d.scussed. Supervised.learning, unsupervised.learning, and.*** highlights the limitations in the applicability of ML approaches in the field. Then, the challenges in the realtimeimplementation are concerned.with six use cases: d.fficulty in recognizing multiple load. at a given time,cost of running the NILM system, lack of universal framework for appliance d.tection, anomaly d.tection and.ew appliance id.ntification, and.complexity of the electricity load. and.real-time d.mand.sid. ***, options for selecting an approach for an efficientNILMframework are suggested. Finally, suggestionsare provid.d.for future research d.rections.

The autonomous vehicle(AV)technology has the potential to significantly improve safety and.efficiency of the transportation and.logistics ***-scale AV testing is limited.by time,space,and.cost,while simulation-based.testing often lacks the necessary accuracy of AV and.environmental *** recent years,several initiatives have emerged.to test autonomous software and.hard.are on scaled.*** systematic literature review provid.s an overview of the literature surround.ng small-scale self-d.iving cars,summarizing the current autonomous platforms d.ployed.and.focusing on the software and.hard.are d.velopments in this *** stud.es published.in English-language journals or conference papers that present small-scale testing of self-d.iving cars were *** of Science,Scopus,Springer Link,Wiley,ACM d.gital Library,and.TRId.d.tabases were used.for the literature *** systematic literature search found.38 eligible *** gaps in the reviewed.papers were id.ntified.to provid. guid.nce for future *** key takeaway emerging from this manuscript are:(i)there is a need.to improve the mod.ls and.neural network architectures used.in autonomous d.iving systems,as most papers present only preliminary results;(ii)increasing d.tasets and.sharing d.tabases can help in d.veloping more reliable control policies and.red.cing bias and.variance in the training process;(iii)small-scaled.vehicles to ensure safety is a major benefit,and.incorporating d.ta about unsafe d.iving behaviors and.infrastructure problems can improve the accuracy of pred.ctive mod.ls.

Soil erosion and.sed.mentation are among the most serious global environmental *** and.water conservation measures have been proven effective ways to red.ce soil *** objective of this stud. was to evaluate the impact of three approaches of soil and.water conservation measures(soil management,vegetative measures,and.structural practices)on soil erosion and.water balance of two paired.agricultural watershed. located.in Southern *** and.sed.ment monitoring was carried.out from 2016 to 2019 in the two small paired.agricultural watershed.;called.North watershed.NW)and.South watershed.SW).Mod.ling using Soil&Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)was performed.to simulate ind.vid.al(nine scenarios)and.combined.four scenarios)best management practices(BMPs),by includ.ng the three *** the nine ind.vid.al BMP scenarios,the most effective in red.cing soil erosion was crop rotation and.cover crop(sed.ment yield.SY,red.ction of 38.4 for NW,and.28.8%for SW).Among the four combined.scenarios,the association of all conservation approaches was the most effective in red.cing soil erosion(SY red.ction of 46 for NW,and.41.5%for SW),followed.by the vegetative measures scenario(SY red.ction of 43.5 and.34.1%for NW and.SW).All combined.scenarios increased.infiltration and.subsurface water components,and.d.creased.surface *** find.ngs of this stud. can help farmers and.policymakers choosing appropriate BMPs to red.ce current soil erosion problems and.promote water and.soil conservation.
