Background: Ureteral stones are the most common leading cause of acute flank pain. This study aimed to identify sociodemographic and clinical variables predicting spontaneous ureteral stone passage and determine the optimal size cut-off for predicting such passage. Method: We conducted a retrospective evaluation of patients presenting with acute renal colic at a urology outpatient clinic. Patients with ureteral stones ≤ 10 mm and no surgical intervention post-initial diagnosis, who attended follow-up visits, were included. Exclusion criteria comprised stone size > 1 cm, fever due to obstructive pyelonephritis, acute kidney injury, single kidney status, or bilateral ureteral obstruction. Results: of 124 included patients, the spontaneous stone passage rate was 57.3%, with a mean passage time of 11.1 (SD 6.25) days. Bivariate analysis revealed that factors predicting spontaneous passage were stone size (p Conclusions: Stone size or distal ureter location, emerged as key predictors of stone passage in nephrolithiasis, and stone size below 6.85 mm is a reasonable cut off to initiate MET rather than 10 mm.

The Li-Mg-B-H composite(2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2))has a high capacity of 11.4 wt%as a hydrogen storage ***,the slow kinetics and poor cycling stability severely restrict its practical *** this work,a layered Nb_(2)C MXene was first synthesized and then introduced to tailor the kinetics and cycling stability of the Li-Mg-B-H *** milled 2LiH+MgB_(2)composites were initially hydrogenated to obtain the 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)*** 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)+5wt%Nb_(2)C can release 9.0 wt%H_(2)in 30 min at 400℃,while it is only 2.7 wt%for the undoped 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2).The dehydrogenation activation energies of MgH_(2)and LiBH_(4)are 123 and 154 kJ·mol^(-1)respectively for the 5 wt%Nb_(2)C-doped composite,lower than the undoped composite(164 and 165 kJ·mol^(-1)).The 2LiBH_(4)+MgH_(2)+5 wt%Nb_(2)C possesses excellent cycling stability,with the reversible capacity only slightly reduced from 9.4 wt%for the 1st cycle to 9.3 wt%for the 20th ***_(2)C keeps stable in the composite and acts as an efficient catalyst for the Li-Mg-B-H *** is believed that both the layered structure and the active Nb element contribu te to the enhanced hydrogen storage performances of the Li-Mg-B-H *** work confirms that the Nb_(2)C MXene with layered stru cture has a significant enhancing impact on the Li-Mg-B-H hydrogen storage materials,which is different from the bulk NbC.

BACKGRoUND Lipid treatment practices and levels in post-acute myocardial infarction(AMI)patients,which are crucial for secondary *** To evaluate the lipid treatment practices and lipid levels in post-myocardial infarction(MI)patients at a tertiary care hospital in *** In this cross-sectional study,we analyzed patients who had experienced their first AMI event in the past 3 *** assessed fasting and non-fasting lipid profiles,reviewed statin therapy prescriptions,and examined patient *** recommended dose was defined as rosuvastatin≥20 mg or atorvastatin≥40 mg,with target total cholesterol levels set atow-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)atong 195 patients,71.3%were male,and the mean age was 57.1±10.2 *** median duration since AMI was 36(interquartile range:10-48)months and 60% were diagnosed with ST-segment elevation *** 13.8% of patients were advised to undergo lipid profile testing after AMI,88.7% of patients were on the recommended statin therapy,and 91.8% of patients were compliant with statin *** 11.5% had LDL-C within the target range and 71.7% had total cholesterol within the target *** admission in the past 12 months was reported by 14.4%,and the readmission rate was significantly higher among non-compliant patients(37.5%vs 5.6%).Subsequent AMI event rate was also significantly higher among non-compliant patients(43.8%vs 11.7%).CoNCLUSIoN our study highlights that while most post-AMI patients received the recommended minimum statin therapy dose,the inadequate practice of lipid assessment may compromise therapy optimization and raise the risk of subsequent events.

Currently, most public higher learning institutions in Tanzania rely on traditional in-class examinations, requiring students to register and present identification documents for examinations eligibility verification. This system, however, is prone to impersonations due to security vulnerabilities in current students’ verification system. These vulnerabilities include weak authentication, lack of encryption, and inadequate anti-counterfeiting measures. Additionally, advanced printing technologies and online marketplaces which claim to produce convincing fake identification documents make it easy to create convincing fake identity documents. The Improved Mechanism for Detecting Impersonations (IMDIs) system detects impersonations in in-class exams by integrating QR codes and dynamic question generation based on student profiles. It consists of a mobile verification app, built with Flutter and communicating via RESTful APIs, and a web system, developed with Laravel using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The two components communicate through APIs, with MySQL managing the database. The mobile app and web server interact to ensure efficient verification and security during examinations. The implemented IMDIs system was validated by a mobile application which is integrated with a QR codes scanner for capturing codes embedded in student Identity Cards and linking them to a dynamic question generation model. The QG model uses natural language processing (NLP) algorithm and Question Generation (QG) techniques to create dynamic profile questions. Results show that the IMDIs system could generate four challenging profile-based questions within two seconds, allowing the verification of 200 students in 33 minutes by one operator. The IMDIs system also tracks exam-eligible students, aiding in exam attendance and integrates with a Short Message Service (SMS) to report impersonation incidents to a dedicated security officer in real-time.
