A homologous series of benzothiazole derivatives, 6-methoxy-2-（4-alkanoyloxybenzylidenamino）benzothiazoles, were synthesized and characterized using FT-IR, ^1H and ^13C NMR, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. Enantiotropic nematic phase was observed throughout the entire series. Smectic C phase only emerged from the decanoyloxy derivative onwards. The terminal methoxyl group and the ester linkage influenced the mesomorphic behavior of the present series.

A homologous series of azomethine esters,4-n-alkanoyloxybenzylidene-4＇-bromoanilines possessing even number of carbon atoms at the terminal alkanoyloxy chain（C_（n-1）H_（2n-1）COO- n = 8,10,12,14,16,18） was synthesized and *** n-octanoyloxy to n-dodecanoyloxy derivatives exhibited enantiotropic smectic A and smectic B phases,n-tetradecanoyloxy to n-octadecanoyloxy derivatives possessed enantiotropic smectic A and monotropic smectic B properties.n-Decanoyloxy derivatives demonstrated the optimum exhibition for both smectic A and smectic B *** was found that the length of terminal alkanoyloxy chain has an influence on mesomorphic properties.

A new series of Schiff base esters, 4-（dimethylamino）benzylidene-4＇-alkanoyloxyanilines containing even number of carbons at the end group of the molecules （Cn-1H2n-1COO, n = 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18） were synthesized. The present compounds were monotropic liquid crystals. It was also found that the end groups of the molecules had effect on the mesomorphic properties. C 2009 Sie Tiong Ha. Objective:To determine the degree of knowledge in the usage of pulse oximeter as a home assessment tool among the community in ***:A cross-sectional survey was conducted in November *** questionnaire assessed the knowledge in using pulse oximeters,user experience and opinions in using pulse oximeter as a home assessment tool during the ***:A total of 504 respondents were included in the study,and the mean score in knowledge related to application of pulse oximetry was 73.00%,while the mean score in knowledge related to factors affecting pulse oximetry readings was only 38.51%.A total of 90.5% of the respondents recognised normal pulse rate and 88.5% knew the blood oxygen saturation levels of a healthy adult,while 69.4% recognised the definition of silent *** addition,the majority of the respondents agreed that factors such as poor blood circulation(71.2%),excessive movements(69.8%),and hand position(60.7%)affected oximetry ***,61.7%,81.7%,77.2% and 76.8% of the respondents could not identify nail polish,skin colour,skin thickness and tattoos as factors that may affect oximetry readings ***:The respondents showed a satisfactory level of knowledge related to application of pulse oximetry,but a poor level of knowledge related to factors affecting pulse oximetry readings among the community in *** efforts in educating the community on the correct use of pulse oximeters are crucial for appropriate home assessment and avoiding unnecessary stress.

This paper presents an adaptive human-machine interface(HMI)that can provide appropriate sets of digital maintenanceinformation and guidance to an operator during *** takes into consideration the expertise level of the operator and the maintenance context and *** proposed human-centric methodology considers the heart rate,intention,and expertise level of the operator,which can be captured using sensors during maintenance.A set of rules is formulated based on the sensor data to infer the state of the operator during a maintenance *** on the operator state,the adaptive HMI can augment the operator's senses using a scheme that combines visual,audio,and haptic guidance cues during maintenance to enhance the operator's ability to perceive information and perform maintenance *** schemes of visual,audio,and haptic cues are developed based on a comparison of the best practices obtained from experienced operators.

Background Nasopharyngeal carcinoma （NPC） patients have a 19%-56% locoregional recurrence rate after primary *** those recurrent NPC （rNPC） patients,re-irradiation may cause some *** recent years,endoscopic endonasal nasopharyngectomy （EEN） has become a surgical option for rNPC *** we introduce the concept of en bloc excision （EBE） technique for EEN,including the surgical technique and clinical *** A retrospective study was conducted covering September 2009 to May 2013,involving the collection of Iocoregional rNPC cases from two institutions （Kuang-Tien General Hospital （KTGH） in Taiwan and National University Health System （NUHS） in Singapore）.These patients failed prior therapy and then underwent *** reported the 2-year overall survival rate,the 2-year disease-free survival rate,and related *** Nine patients （five from KTGH and four from NUHS） completed this study,with five,two,and two patients of recurrence tumors （rT1）,rT2,and rT3,*** mean age was 46.4 years （range 32-63）; the mean follow-up period was 24.9 months （range 10-45）.The 2-year survival rate and the 2-year disease-free rate were 100% and 80%,respectively,in five *** significant complications or cases of mortality *** The EBE concept of EEN is suitable for early rT1 and has relatively encouraging short-term *** selected rT2,careful EBE can be performed by expanding the surgical field.A clear view of the internal carotid arteryrelated anatomy is *** the future,more series may be needed to determine the role of EEN in rNPC patients.

BACKGROUND The quality of warfarin therapy can be determined by the time in the therapeutic range(TTR)of international normalized ratio(INR).The estimated minimum TTR needed to achieve a benefit from warfarin therapy is≥60%.AIM To determine TTR and the predictors of poor TTR among atrial fibrillation patients who receive warfarin *** A retrospective observational study was conducted at a cardiology referral center in Selangor,Malaysia.A total of 420 patients with atrial fibrillation and under follow-up at the pharmacist led Warfarin Medication Therapeutic Adherence Clinic between January 2014 and December 2018 were ***’clinical data,information related to warfarin therapy,and INR readings were traced through electronic Hospital Information system.A data collection form was used for data *** percentage of days when INR was within range was calculated using the Rosendaal *** poor INR control category was defined as a TTR<60%.Predictors for poor TTR were further determined by using logistic *** A total of 420 patients[54.0%male;mean age 65.7(10.9)years]were *** calculated mean and median TTR were 60.6%±20.6%and 64%(interquartile range 48%-75%),*** the included patients,57.6%(n=242)were in the good control category and 42.4%(n=178)were in the poor control *** annual calculated mean TTR between the year 2014 and 2018 ranged from 59.7%and 67.3%.A high HAS-BLED score of≥3 was associated with poor TTR(adjusted odds ratio,2.525;95%confidence interval:1.6-3.9,P<0.001).CONCLUSION In our population,a high HAS-BLED score was associated with poor *** could provide an important insight when initiating an oral anticoagulant for these *** with a high HAS-BLED score may obtain less benefit from warfarin therapy and should be considered for other available oral anticoagulants for maximum benefit.

运用基于GC/MS的代谢组学方法,以受精卵在双酚A(BPA)中暴露4d后的斑马鱼胚胎为对象,研究了其体内挥发性和半挥发性代谢组分变化.暴露浓度设定为0,0.5,1.5,4.5mg/L,包括USEPA假定的"安全水平"(1.5mg/L).结果表明,1.5mg/LBPA暴露能使斑马鱼体内花生四烯酸和胆固醇的相对百分含量极显著降低,饱和脂肪酸、氨基酸、葡萄糖和肌糖的相对百分含量显著升高.因此,1.5mg/LBPA能干扰斑马鱼胚胎期的正常代谢.
