Endometriosis coexisting with dermoid cyst in a single ovary： a case report

Endometriosis coexisting with a dermoid cyst of the ovary is extraordinarily rare, although these both benign conditions are said to be common in women in the reproductive age group. There are only two previous case reports, which is evident from our literature review from January 1960 through January 2010. Acute abdomen is one of the greatest diagnostic challenges and easily ignored by the clinicians to exclude the possibility of gynecologic illness. A 35-year-old woman was referred by the doctor in Family clinic. She experienced a three-day period of severe right lower abdominal pain and intermittent vomiting. Ultrasonography identified a bilocular, cystic, hypoechoic, and hyperechoic tumor, 7 cm×6 cm×6 cm in the right adnexal region. Laparoscopic cystectomy was performed under the impression of ovarian cyst with torsion or hemorrhage. The frozen section was benign and appendiceal status was adequate. Histopathologic examination described an ovarian cyst composed of endometrial-type lining with stroma cells （endometriosis） and benign terotoma tissue with plenty of skin appendages and sebaceous glands. We report this unusual and interesting ovarian mass to remind physicians that the usage of the Endobag after cystectomy, the benefits on minimizing operative time, spilled opportunity, and postoperative complications. Laparoscopic techniques for large ovarian masses might be considered. The experience of the surgeon is also very important to prevent misdiagnosis or complication. Further follow up is mandatory for this simultaneous finding of ovarian endometriosis with coincidental dermoid cyst as a separate pathology in single ovary of such a nature. It also presents a challenge to the clinicians and to the pathologists.

Effects of the Process Parameters on Austenitic Stainless Steel by TIG-Flux Welding

The effects of the process parameters of TIG （tungsten inset gas）-flux welding on the welds morphology, angular distortion, ferrite content and hot cracking in austenitic stainless steel were investigated. Autogenous TIG welding process was applied to the type 304 stainless steel through a thin layer of activating flux to produce a bead on plate welded joint. TiO2, SiO2, Fe2O3, Cr2O3, ZnO and MnO2 were used as the activating fluxes. The experimental results indicated that the TIG-flux welding can increase the weld depth/width ratio and reduce the HAZ （heat affected zone） range, and therefore the angular distortion of the weldment can be reduced. It was also found that the retained ferrite content within the TIG-flux welds is increased, and has a beneficial effect in reducing hot cracking tendency for stainless steels of the austenitic type weld metals. A plasma column constriction increases the current density at the anode spot and then a substantial increase in penetration of the TIG-flux welds can be obtained.

A Novel Web Video Event Mining Framework with the Integration of Correlation and Co-Occurrence Information

The massive web videos prompt an imperative demand on efficiently grasping the major events. However, the distinct characteristics of web videos, such as the limited number of features, the noisy text information, and the unavoidable error in near-duplicate keyframes （NDKs） detection, make web video event mining a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a novel four-stage framework to improve the performance of web video event mining. Data preprocessing is the first stage. Multiple Correspondence Analysis （MCA） is then applied to explore the correlation between terms and classes, targeting for bridging the gap between NDKs and high-level semantic concepts. Next, co-occurrence information is used to detect the similarity between NDKs and classes using the NDK-within-video information. Finally, both of them are integrated for web video event mining through negative NDK pruning and positive NDK enhancement. Moreover, both NDKs and terms with relatively low frequencies are treated as useful information in our experiments. Experimental results on large-scale web videos from YouTube demonstrate that the proposed framework outperforms several existing mining methods and obtains good results for web video event mining.

Immobilization of Homogeneous Catalysis on Phosphinated MCM-41

Homogeneous catalysis Rh(PPh3)3Cl immobilized on MCM-41 modified with (OEt)3Si(CH2)3PPh2 results in a stable hydrogenation catalyst with turn over frequency (TOF) three times higher than that of Rh(PPh3)3C1 in the hydrogenation of cyclohexene. Leaching of the catalyst is only a minor factor with leaching rate 0.04 % for each cycle. However, immobilization of Rh(PPh3)2(CO)C1 on similar support can only have catalytic hydroformylation properties for the first few cycles. Decay of the catalyst is due to largh leaching rate with totally 22.4 % of Rh leached for the first three cycles.

BACKGROUND Despite the availability of current therapies,including oral antidiabetic drugs and insulin,for controlling the symptoms caused by high blood glucose,it is difficult to cure diabetes mellitus,especially type 1 diabetes *** Cell therapies using mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)may be a promising ***,the therapeutic mechanisms by which MSCs exert their effects,such as whether they can differentiate into insulin-producing cells (IPCs) beforetransplantation, are *** this study, we used three types of differentiation media over 10 d to generateIPCs from human Wharton’s jelly MSCs (hWJ-MSCs). We further transplantedthe undifferentiated hWJ-MSCs and differentiated IPCs derived from them intothe portal vein of rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes, and recorded thephysiological and pathological *** fluorescent staining and C-peptide enzyme-linked immunoassay, we wereable to successfully induce the differentiation of hWJ-MSCs into *** of both IPCs derived from hWJ-MSCs and undifferentiated hWJMSCshad the therapeutic effect of ameliorating blood glucose levels andimproving intraperitoneal glucose tolerance tests. The transplanted IPCs homedto the pancreas and functionally survived for at least 8 wk after transplantation,whereas the undifferentiated hWJ-MSCs were able to improve the insulitis andameliorate the serum inflammatory cytokine in streptozotocin-induced *** IPCs can significantly improve blood glucose levels in diabetic ratsdue to the continuous secretion of insulin by transplanted cells that survive in theislets of diabetic rats. Transplantation of undifferentiated hWJ-MSCs cansignificantly improve insulitis and re-balance the inflammatory condition indiabetic rats with only a slight improvement in blood glucose levels.

EKLF is an erythroid-specific,zinc finger-containing transcription factor essential for the activation of the mamma-lian beta globin gene in erythroid cells of definitive *** have prepared a polyclonal anti-mouse EKLF antibodysuitable for Western blotting and immunoprecipitation(IP)qualities,and used it to define the expression patterns of theEKLF protein during mouse erythroid *** have also used this antibody for the chromatin-immunoprecipi-tation(ChIP)*** was found to bind in vivo at both the mouse beta-major-globin promoter and the HS2 site ofbeta-LCR in the mouse erythroleukemia cells(MEL)in a DMSO-inducible *** DMSO-induced bindings ofEKLF as well as three other proteins,namely,RNA polymerase Ⅱ,acetylated histone H3,and methylated histone H3,were not abolished but significantly lowered in CB3,a MEL-derived cell line with null-expression of p45/NF-E2,anerythroid-enriched factor needed for activation of the mammalian globin ***,binding of EKLF in vivowas also detected in the mouse alpha-like globin locus,at the adult alpha globin promoter and its far upstream regula-tory element alpha-MRE(HS26).This study provides direct evidence for EKLF-binding in vivo at the major regulatoryelements of the mouse beta-like globin gene clusters the data also have interesting implications with respect to the roleof EKLF-chromatin interaction in mammalian globin gene regulation.
