Green manuring relocates microbiomes in driving the soil functionality of nitrogen cycling to obtain preferable grain yields in thirty years

Fertilizers are widely used to produce more food, inevitably altering the diversity and composition of soil organisms. The role of soil biodiversity in controlling multiple ecosystem services remains unclear, especially after decades of fertilization. Here, we assess the contribution of the soil functionalities of carbon(C), nitrogen(N), and phosphorus(P) cycling to crop production and explore how soil organisms control these functionalities in a 33-year field fertilization experiment. The long-term application of green manure or cow manure produced wheat yields equivalent to those obtained with chemical N, with the former providing higher soil functions and allowing the functionality of N cycling(especially soil N mineralization and biological N fixation) to control wheat production. The keystone phylotypes within the global network rather than the overall microbial community dominated the soil multifunctionality and functionality of C,N, and P cycling across the soil profile(0–100 cm). We further confirmed that these keystone phylotypes consisted of many metabolic pathways of nutrient cycling and essential microbes involved in organic C mineralization, N_(2)O release, and biological N fixation. The chemical N, green manure, and cow manure resulted in the highest abundances of amoB, nifH, and GH48 genes and Nitrosomonadaceae,Azospirillaceae, and Sphingomonadaceae within the keystone phylotypes, and these microbes were significantly and positively correlated with N_(2)O release, N fixation, and organic C mineralization, respectively. Moreover, our results demonstrated that organic fertilization increased the effects of the network size and keystone phylotypes on the subsoil functions by facilitating the migration of soil microorganisms across the soil profiles and green manure with the highest migration rates. BACKGROUND For tumors in the neck and body of the pancreas,distal pancreatectomy(DP)has been the standard surgical procedure for the last few decades and central pancreatectomy(CP)is an alternative surgical *** CP better preserves remnant pancreatic endocrine and exocrine functions after surgery remains a subject of *** To evaluate the safety and efficacy of CP compared with DP for benign or lowgrade malignant pancreatic tumors in the neck and body of the *** This retrospective study enrolled 296 patients who underwent CP or DP for benign and low-malignant neoplasms at the same hospital between January 2016 and March *** outcomes and long-term morbidity of endocrine/exocrine function were prospectively *** No significant difference was observed in overall morbidity or clinically relevant postoperative pancreatic fistula between the two groups(P=0.055).Delayed gastric emptying occurred more frequently in the CP group than in the DP group(29.4%vs 15.3%;P<0.005).None of the patients in the CP group had new-onset or aggravated distal metastasis,whereas 40 patients in the DP group had endocrine function deficiency after surgery(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of diarrhea immediately after surgery,but at postoperative 12 mo,a significantly higher number of patients had diarrhea in the DP group than in the CP group(0%vs 9.5%;P<0.05).CONCLUSION CP is a generally safe procedure and is better than DP in preserving long-term pancreatic endocrine and exocrine ***,CP might be a better option for treating benign or low-grade malignant neoplasms in suitable patients.

Conservative resection for benign tumors of the proximal pancreas

AIM:To evaluate the safety and long-term prognosis of conservative resection (CR) for benign or borderline tumor of the proximal ***: We retrospectively analyzed 20 patients who underwent CR at the Second Affi liated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine between April 2000 and October 2008. For pancreaticojejunostomy, a modified invagination method, continuous circular invaginated pancreaticojejunostomy (CCI-PJ) was used. Modified continuous closed lavage (MCCL) was performed for patients with pancreatic ***: The indications were: serous cystadenomas in eight patients, insulinomas in six, non-functional islet cell tumors in three and solid pseudopapillary tumors in three. Perioperative mortality was zero and morbidity was 25%. Overall, pancreatic fistula was present in 25% of patients. At a mean follow up of 42.7 mo, all patients were alive with no recurrence and no new-onset diabetes mellitus or exocrine ***: CR is a safe and effective procedure for patients with benign tumors in the proximal pancreas, with careful CCI-PJ and postoperative MCCL.

Effect of mesopore spatial distribution of HZSM-5 catalyst on zinc state and product distribution in 1-hexene aromatization

1-hexene aromatization is a promising technology to convert excess olefin in fluid catalytic cracking(FCC)gasoline to high-value benzene(B),toluene(T),and ***,the increasing market demand of xylene has put forward higher requirements for new generation of *** increasing xylene yield in 1-hexene aromatization,the effect of mesopore structure and spatial distribution on product distribution and Zn loading was *** with different mesopore spatial distribution were prepared by post-treatment of parent HZSM-5 zeolite,including NaOH treatment,tetra-propylammonium hydroxide(TPAOH)treatment,and *** was found the evenly distributed mesopore mainly prolongs the catalyst lifetime by enhancing diffusion properties but reduces the aromatics selectivity,as a result of damage of micropores close to the catalyst *** the selectivity of high-value xylene can be highly promoted when the mesopore is mainly distributed interior the ***,the state of loaded Zn was also affected by mesopores spatial *** the optimized catalyst,the xylene selectivity was enhanced by 12.4%compared with conventional Zn-loaded parent HZSM-5 catalyst at conversion over 99%.It was attributed to the synergy effect of mesopores spatial distribution and optimized acid *** work reveals the role of mesopores in different spatial positions of 1-hexene aromatization catalysts in the reaction process and the influence on metal distribution,as well as their synergistic effect two on the improvement of xylene selectivity,which can improve our understanding of catalyst pore structure and be helpful for the rational design of high-efficient catalyst.

Mathematical Modeling and a Multiswarm Collaborative Optimization Algorithm for Fuzzy Integrated Process Planning and Scheduling Problem

Considering both process planning and shop scheduling in manufacturing can fully utilize their complementarities,resulting in improved rationality of process routes and high-quality and efficient production. Hence,the study of Integrated Process Planning and Scheduling (IPPS) has become a hot topic in the current production field. However,when performing this integrated optimization,the uncertainty of processing time is a realistic key point that cannot be neglected. Thus,this paper investigates a Fuzzy IPPS (FIPPS) problem to minimize the maximum fuzzy completion time. Compared with the conventional IPPS problem,FIPPS considers the fuzzy process time in the uncertain production environment,which is more practical and realistic. However,it is difficult to solve the FIPPS problem due to the complicated fuzzy calculating rules. To solve this problem,this paper formulates a novel fuzzy mathematical model based on the process network graph and proposes a MultiSwarm Collaborative Optimization Algorithm (MSCOA) with an integrated encoding method to improve the optimization. Different swarms evolve in various directions and collaborate in a certain number of iterations. Moreover,the critical path searching method is introduced according to the triangular fuzzy number,allowing for the calculation of rules to enhance the local searching ability of MSCOA. The numerical experiments extended from the well-known Kim benchmark are conducted to test the performance of the proposed MSCOA. Compared with other competitive algorithms,the results obtained by MSCOA show significant advantages,thus proving its effectiveness in solving the FIPPS problem.

Extinction of Beamed Gamma-ray Burst Afterglows in a Dense Circumstellar Cloud

Broadband afterglow observations provide a probe of the density structure of the circumburst medium. In the spreading jet model, prompt and intense X-ray/UV radiation from the reverse shock may destroy and clear the dust in the circumburst cloud out to about 30pc within the initial solid angle of the jet. As the jet expands significantly, optical radiation from the high-latitude part of the jet may suffer extinction by dust outside the initial solid angle, while radiation from the part within the initial solid angle can be observed without extinction. In previous studies, it is usually assumed that the extinction is complete. We calculate the extinction effect by taking the optical depth into account. Our numerical results show that a break appears in the light curve of optical afterglow but it extends over a factor of - 80 in time rather than a factor of - 10 in time for the case of strong dust extinction and a factor of - 60 in time for the case without dust extinction. These results may provide a way to judge how large the number density of the circumburst cloud is. Finally, we carry out a detailed modeling for the afterglow of GRB 000926. Our model can provide a good fit to the multi-color observations of this event.

Hybrid effect on mechanical properties and high-temperature performance of copper matrix composite reinforced with micro-nano dual-scale particles

A dual-scale hybrid HfB_(2)/Cu-Hf composite with HfB_(2) microparticles and Cu_(5) Hf nanoprecipitates was designed and *** contribution of the hybrid effect to the mechanical properties and high-temperature performances was studied from macro and micro perspectives,*** hybrid of dual-scale particles can make the strain distribution of the composite at the early deformation stage more uniform and delay the strain concentration caused by the HfB_(2) *** dislocation pinning of HfB_(2) particles and the coherent strengthening of Cu_(5) Hf nanoprecipitates simultaneously play a strengthening role,but the strength of the hybrid composite is not a simple superposition of two strengthening *** addition,both Cu_(5) Hf nanoprecipitates and HfB_(2) microparticles contribute to the high-temperature performance of the composite,the growth and phase transition of nanoprecipitates at high temperature will reduce their contribution to strength,while the stable HfB_(2) particles can inhibit the coarsening of matrix grains and maintain the high-density geometrically necessary dislocations(GNDs)in the matrix,which ensures more excellent high-temperature resistance of the hybrid *** a result,the hy-brid structure can simultaneously possess the advantages of multiple reinforcements and make up for the shortcomings of each ***,a copper matrix composite with high strength,high conductivity,and excellent high-temperature performance is displayed.

Strain-promoted S-arylation and alkenylation of sulfinamides using arynes and cyclic alkynes

The conversion of commercially available chiral sulfinamides into pharmaceutically useful chiral sulfoximines via direct SIVfunctionalization is synthetically attractive but challenging due to the competitive reaction of N-functionalization. Herein, we disclose a novel strain-release strategy to access stereospecific and chemoselective SIV-arylation and alkenylation of sulfinamides using arynes and strained cyclic alkynes. This method tolerates an unprecedented chemical diversity of functional groups attached to the nitrogen center(N-R). The origin of the high SIV-selectivity is elucidated by density functional theory calculations, suggesting a stepwise mechanism for the aryne substrates and a concerted mechanism for the cyclic alkynes.
