Protective effects of carbenoxolone are associated with attenuation of oxidative stress in ischemic brain injury

Accumulating evidence has suggested that the gap junction plays an important role in the determination of cerebral ischemia, but the underlying mechanisms remain to be elucidated. In this study, we assessed the effect of a gap-junction blocker, carbenoxolone （CBX）, on ischemia/reperfusion-induced brain injury and the possible mechanisms. By using the transient cerebral ischemia model induced by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery for 30 min followed by reperfusion for 24 h, we found that pre-administration of CBX （25 mg/kg, intracerebroventricular injection, 30 min before cerebral ischemic surgery） diminished the infarction size in rats. And this was associated with a decrease of reactive oxygen species generation and inhibition of the activation of astrocytes and microglia. In PC12 cells, H202 treatment induced more coupling and apoptosis, while CBX partly inhibited the opening of gap junctions and improved the cell viability. These results suggest that cerebral ischemia enhances the opening of gap junctions. Blocking the gap junction with CBX may attenuate the brain injury after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion by partially contributing to amelioration of the oxidative stress and apoptosis.

Recently,much attention has been focused on the false vacuum islands that are flooded by an expanding ocean of true-vacuum bubbles slightly later than most of the other parts of the *** delayed decay regions will accumulate locally larger vacuum energy density by staying in the false vacuum longer than those already transited into the true vacuum.A false vacuum island with thus acquired density contrast of a super-horizon size will evolve locally from radiation dominance to vacuum dominance,creating a local baby Universe that can be regarded effectively as a local closed *** such density contrasts of super-horizon sizes can ever grow large enough to exceed the threshold of gravitational collapse,primordial black holes will form similar to those collapsing curvature perturbations on super-horizon scales induced by small-scale enhancements during *** not,such density contrasts can still induce curvature perturbations potentially observable *** this paper,we revisit and elaborate on the generations of primordial black holes and curvature perturbations from delayed-decayed false vacuum islands during asynchronous first-order phase transitions with fitting formulas convenient for future model-independent studies.

Formaldehyde is a pollutant that significantly affects the indoor air ***,conventional remediation approaches can be challenging to deal with low-concentration formaldehyde in an indoor *** this study,Photocatalysts of Ag/graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))/Ni with 3D reticulated coral structure were prepared by thermal polymerization and liquid phase photo-deposition,using nickel foam(NF)as the *** demonstrated that when the Ag concentration was 3%,and the relative humidity was 60%,the Ni/Ag/g-C_(3)N_(4)showed the maximum degradation rate of formaldehyde at 90.19%under visible light irradiation,and the formaldehyde concentration after degradation was lower than the Hygienic standard stated by the Chinese *** porous structure of Ni/Ag/g-C_(3)N_(4)and the formation of Schottky junctions promoted the Adsorption efficiency and degradation of formaldehyde,while the nickel foam carrier effectively promoted the desorption of degradation ***,the degradation rate was only reduced by3.4%after 16 recycles,the three-dimensional porous structure extended the lifetime of the *** study provides a new strategy for the degradation of indoor formaldehyde at low concentrations.

BACKGROUND Lateral window approach for sinus floor lift is commonly used for vertical bone augmentation in cases when the residual bone height is less than 5 ***,managing cases becomes more challenging when a maxillary sinus pseudocyst is present or when there is insufficient bone *** this case,we utilized the bone window prepared during the lateral window sinus lift as a shell for horizontal bone *** allowed for simultaneous horizontal and vertical bone augmentation immediately after the removal of the maxillary sinus *** SUMMARY A 28-year-old female presented to our clinic with the chief complaint of missing upper left posterior *** examination showed a horizontal deficiency of the alveolar ridge *** height of the alveolar bone was approximately 3.6 mm on cone beam computed tomography(CBCT).And a typical well-defined'dome-shaped'lesion in maxillary sinus was observed on CBCT *** lateral bony window was prepared using a piezo-ultrasonic device,then the bony window was fixed to the buccal side of the 26 alveolar ridge using a titanium screw with a length of 10 mm and a diameter of 1.5 *** space between the bony window and the alveolar ridge was filled with Bio-Oss,covered with a Bio-Gide collagen membrane,and subsequently *** months later,the patient’s bone width increased from 4.8 to 10.5 mm,and the bone height increased from 3.6 to 15.6 ***,a Straumann^(■)4.1 mm×10 mm implant was *** final all-ceramic crown restoration was completed four months later,and both clinical and radiographic examinations showed that the implant was successful,and the patient was satisfied with the *** The bone block harvested from the lateral window sinus lift can be used for simultaneous horizontal bone augmentation acting as a shell for good two-dimensional bone augmentation.

Modulating electronic structure of metal nanoparticles via metal–support interaction has attracted intense interest in the field of catalytic ***,the roles of supporting substrates in regulating catalytic properties of nanozymes remain *** this study,we find that the use of graphdiyne oxide(GDYO)as the substrate for self-terminating growth of Ru nanoparticles(Ru@GDYO)endows the peroxidase-like activity of Ru nanoparticles with intrinsic physiological pH preference and natural horseradish peroxidase(HRP)comparable *** nanoparticles electrolessly deposited onto GDYO possess a partially oxidized electronic structure owing to limited charge transfer between Ru and GDYO,contributing to the intrinsic physiological pH preference of the peroxidase-mimicking *** importantly,the substrate GDYO plays an influential factor in enhancing catalytic activity,that is,the activity of Ru@GDYO is much higher than that of Ru nanoparticles deposited on other carbon substrates including graphene oxides and *** demonstrate the application of Ru@GDYO nanozyme in neutral solutions,we employ Ru@GDYO with nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)-dependent dehydrogenases in physiological conditions to realize a sustainable cascade reaction by means of forming continuous NAD^(+)/dihydronicotiamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)*** finding represents a promising perspective on designing high-performance peroxidase-mimicking nanozymes with broader applicability,raising fundamental understanding of structure–activity relationship,and investigating new applications of nanozymes in biological systems.

Studying the system state of coexistence regions will peek into to reveal microscopic interactions between different phases of a thermodynamic ***,there is no effective method to study thermodynamic nature of the coexistence black hole regions for the failure of the equation of *** at these coexistence states,in this work,we develop a general approach by introducing two new ratio *** first one is the ratio of the horizon radii of the saturated coexistence small and large black holes,and the second one measures that of the small black hole molecule number to the total molecule *** demonstrate that the first parameter can serve as an order parameter to characterize the first-order phase *** study also shows that the black hole state in the coexistence region is uniquely determined by these two introduced parameters bounded between 0 and *** results are quite significant in the analytical study of phase transition and the microscopic nature of black hole in the coexistence regions.

Benefit-Risk Assessment of Chinese Medicine Injections for Primary Liver Cancer Based on Multi-criteria Decision Analysis

ObjectiveTo evaluate the benefit-risk of 3 commonly used Chinese medicine injections, Aidi Injection (ADI), Cinobufagin Injection (CINI) and Compound Kushen Injection (CKI), in the treatment of primary liver cancer (PLC), so as to provide a reference for clinical *** controlled trials (RCTs) of ADI, CINI and CKI in the treatment of PLC published in the databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang, China Science and Technology Journal Database, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were retrieved from January 2020 to October 2022. The data of benefit and risk indicators were combined to obtain the effect value. The multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) model was applied to build the decision tree. The benefit value, risk value and benefit risk value of the 3 injections in PLC treatment were calculated. Monte Carlo simulation was carried out to calculate the 95% confidence interval and probability of differences among the 3 injections, so as to optimize the evaluation *** total of 71 RCTs were included. The benefit values of ADI, CINI and CKI combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) were 42, 38 and 36, respectively. The risk values were 42, 25 and 37, respectively. The benefit risk values were 42, 31 and 37, respectively. The benefit risk differences of ADI vs. CINI, ADI vs. CKI, and CKI vs. CINI were 11 (−0.86, 17.75), 5 (−5.01, 11.09), and 6 (−1.87, 12.63), respectively. The probability that ADI superior to CINI, ADI superior to CKI, and CKI superior to CINI was 96.26%, 77.27%, and 92.62%, *** on the results of MCDA model, CINI combined with TACE has the greatest risk in the treatment of the PLC. Considering the efficacy and safety, the possible priority of the 3 Chinese medicine injections combined with TACE in the treatment of PLC is ADI, CKI and CINI.

Genetic Analysis of Structural Styles in the Makran Accretionary Wedge–Insight from Physical Simulations

The Makran accretionary wedge has the smallest subduction angle among any accretionary prism in the world. The factors controlling the spacing and morphological development of its deep thrust faults, as well as the formation mechanism of shallow normal faults, remain unclear. Meanwhile, the factors affecting the continuity of plane faults must be comprehensively discussed. Clarifying the development characteristics and deformation mechanisms of the Makran accretionary wedge is crucial to effectively guide the exploration of gas hydrate deposits in the area. This study aims to interpret seismic data to identify typical structures in the Makran accretionary wedge, including deep imbricate thrust faults, shallow and small normal faults, wedge-shaped piggyback basins, mud diapirs with fuzzy and disorderly characteristics of reflection, décollements with a northward tilt of 1° – 2°, and large seamounts. Physical simulation-based experiments are performed to comprehensively analyze the results of the plane, section, and slices of the wedge. Results reveal that the distances between and shapes of thrust faults in the deep parts of the Makran accretionary wedge are controlled by the bottom décollement. The uplift of the thrust fault-related folds and the upwelling of the mud diapirs primarily contribute to the formation of small normal faults in the shallow part of the area. The mud diapirs originate from plastic material at the bottom, while those that have developed in the area near the trench are larger. Seamounts and mud diapirs break the continuity of fault plane distribution.

Relationship between cytokines gene polymorphism and susceptibility to hepatitis B virus intrauterine infection

Background The influences of genomic background are confirmed in more diseases. Immunologic tolerance after intrauterine infection of hepatitis B virus is considered to occur in T cells. Cytokines work effectively in eliminating virus by immune system after hepatitis B virus infection. To explore the relationship between cytokines （tumor necrosis factor-α, interferon-γ, interleukin-4 and interleukin-10）, which expressed abnormal quantity in the peripheral blood to intrauterine hepatitis B virus infectious children, gene single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） and susceptibility to hepatitis B virus intrauterine infection. Methods This is a cross sectional study of molecular clinical epidemiology. The subjects in this study were selected from outpatients of hepatitis B vaccine follow-up special clinics of our hospital in the period. According to intrant criteria, the high risk children of hepatitis B virus （HBV） intrauterine infection were divided into immune failure group （group Ⅰ） ; and immune effective group （group Ⅱ） and non high risk children belonged to the control group. Four gene SNP sites of TNF-α -238, IFN-γ ＋874, IL-4 -590 and IL-10 -1082 were determined by real-time quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. Results The significant differences of TNF-α- 238 A allele frequency were found between group Ⅰand group Ⅱ（X^2 =6. 797, P 〈 0.05 ） and between group Ⅰ and the control group （ X^2 = 9. 513, P 〈 0.05 ）. No evident differences of TNF-α- 238 A were found between group Ⅱand control group （ X^2 = 0. 047, P 〉 0. 05 ） ; the significant differences of IFN-γ ＋ 874 A allele frequency were found between group Ⅰand group Ⅱ（ X^2 = 7. 238, P〈0. 05）, and between group Ⅰand the control group （X^2 =5. 199,P 〈0. 05）. No evident differences were found between groupⅡ and the control group （ X^2 =0. 602 ,P 〉0. 05 ） ; the significant differences of IL-4 -590 C/T allele frequency were not found between groupⅠand group Ⅱ （ X^2 = 0. 632, P 〉 0. 05 ） , also group Ⅰ
