Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China

Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains *** A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of *** Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two *** Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes.

Cholecystectomy does not significantly increase the risk of fatty liver disease

AIM: To investigate the relationship between cholecystectomy and fatty liver disease(FLD) in a Chinese ***: A total of 32428 subjects who had voluntarily undergone annual health checkups in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2011 to May 2013 were included in this study. Basic data collection, physical examination, laboratory examination, and abdominal ultrasound examination were ***: Subjects undergoing cholecystectomy were associated with greater age, female sex, higher body mass index, and higher levels of systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting plasma glucose, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. However, no significant differences were found in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, gammaglutamyl transpeptidase, albumin, and serum uric acid. The overall prevalence of FLD diagnosed by ultrasonography was high at 38.4%. The prevalence of FLD was significantly higher for subjects who had undergone cholecystectomy(46.9%) than those who had not undergone cholecystectomy(38.1%; χ2 test, P < 0.001). Cholecystectomy was positively associated with FLD(OR = 1.433, 95%CI: 1.259-1.631). However, after adjusting for possible factors associated withFLD, multivariate regression analysis showed that the association between cholecystectomy and FLD was not statistically significant(OR = 1.096; 95%CI: 0.939-1.279). CONCLUSION: According to our study results, cholecystectomy may not be a significant risk factor for FLD.

Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility(the so-called Back-n white neutron source),which was completed in March *** Back-n neutron beam is very intense,at approximately 29107 n/cm2/s at 55 m from the target,and has a nominal proton beam with a power of 100 kW in the CSNS-I phase and a kinetic energy of 1.6 GeV and a thick tungsten target in multiple slices with modest moderation from the cooling water through the *** addition,the excellent energy spectrum spanning from 0.5 eV to 200 MeV,and a good time resolution related tothe time-of-flight measurements make it a typical white neutron source for nuclear data measurements;its overall performance is among that of the best white neutron sources in the *** with advanced spectrometers,detectors,and application utilities,the Back-n facility can serve wide applications,with a focus on neutron-induced cross-sectional *** article presents an overview of the neutron beam characteristics,the experimental setups,and the ongoing applications at Backn.

轿车空调是一个复杂的热力系统,由鼓风机、循环风门、混合风门、蒸发器和加热器等部分构成,其热负荷主要包括太阳辐射、车室内外温差、乘客热负荷和车速等。由热力学原理建立轿车空调系统的非线性模型,提出一种基于模糊推理的控制方法来实现轿车空调系统的温度控制,并利用型号为N15的轿车空调系统的参数进行Matlab仿真。仿真结果表明基于模糊推理的轿车空调温控系统调节时间短、超调小,且控制精度高,能较好地解决轿车空调非线性系统的控制问题。

Use of covered Cheatham-Platinum stent as the primary modality in the treatment for native coarctation of the aorta

Background Bare stent implantation in the treatment for native and recurrent coarctation of the aorta （CoA） has become established as an alternative to surgery and balloon angioplasty. However, this modality still encounters significant complications during the procedure and/or follow-up. The covered Cheatham-Platinum （CP） stent commonly used to be chosen as a rescue treatment in these patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of covered CP stent as the primary modality in the treatment for native CoA. Methods Twenty-five covered CP stents and 2 bare CP stents were implanted in 25 patients with native CoA. All patients after the intervention were invited for follow-up examinations. Results The peak systolic gradient across the lesion decreased significantly from a median value of 67.5 mmHg （quartile range, 19.3 mmHg） to 2 mmHg （quartile range, 4.0 mmHg）（P 〈0.0001）. Stenotic segment diameter increased from a median value of 5.0 mm （quartile range, 1.5 mm） to 17.9 mm （quartile range, 2.5 mm）（P 〈0.0001）. The median ratio of diameter of the coarctation postprocedure to preprocedure was 4.2 （quartile range, 1.6）. All of the CP stents were placed in the suitable position without any acute complications. During a follow-up period of up to 72 months, no complications were encountered. Most of the patients （21/25） were normotensive, apart from four patients requiring antihypertensive medication during the follow-up. Conclusion The implantation of covered CP stent as the primary modality is safe and effective in the treatment for native CoA in adolescents and adults.

Resistance of Eimeria Coccidia Isolated from Two Chicken Farms in Anhui Province to Eight Anticoccidial Drugs

[ Objectivel To investigate the sensitivity of Eimeria coccidia strains isolated from two chicken farms in Anhui Province to different anticoccidial drugs and provide a theoretical basis for coccidiosis treatment. [ Method] The fresh feces were collected from two chicken farms, and Eimeria coccidia strains were isolated and propagated in laboratory. A total of eight anticoccidial drugs including diclazuril, robenidine, dinitoimide, decoquinate, nicarbazine, maduramicin, salinomycin and lasalocid were selected for sensitivity test. [ Results] In Farm I, Eimeria coccidia strains were sensitive to decoquinate, partially resistant to nicarbazine and completely resistant to other six drugs. In Farm II, Eimeria coccidia strains were sensitive to decoquinate and nicarbazine, partially resistant to robenidine and completely resistant to other five drugs. [ Conclusion] Drug resistance of Eimerfa coccidia to many anticoccidial drugs had been highly developed in these two farms.

The fifth generation(5G) wireless communication networks are being deployed worldwide from 2020 and more capabilities are in the process of being standardized, such as mass connectivity, ultra-reliability,and guaranteed low latency. However, 5G will not meet all requirements of the future in 2030 and beyond, and sixth generation(6G) wireless communication networks are expected to provide global coverage, enhanced spectral/energy/cost efficiency, better intelligence level and security, etc. To meet these requirements, 6G networks will rely on new enabling technologies, i.e., air interface and transmission technologies and novel network architecture, such as waveform design, multiple access, channel coding schemes, multi-antenna technologies, network slicing, cell-free architecture, and cloud/fog/edge computing. Our vision on 6G is that it will have four new paradigm shifts. First, to satisfy the requirement of global coverage, 6G will not be limited to terrestrial communication networks, which will need to be complemented with non-terrestrial networks such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) communication networks, thus achieving a space-airground-sea integrated communication network. Second, all spectra will be fully explored to further increase data rates and connection density, including the sub-6GHz, millimeter wave(mmWave), terahertz(THz),and optical frequency bands. Third, facing the big datasets generated by the use of extremely heterogeneous networks, diverse communication scenarios, large numbers of antennas, wide bandwidths, and new service requirements, 6G networks will enable a new range of smart applications with the aid of artificial intelligence(AI) and big data technologies. Study on the Characteristics of Gut Microbiota in Chronic Hepatitis B(CHB)Patients with Damp Heat Syndrome and liver Depression and Spleen Deficiency Syndrome

Objective:This study was designed to explore the characteristics of gut microbiota in CHB patients with two most common traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Syndromes—damp heat syndrome and liver depression and spleen deficiency ***:According to the diagnostic criteria of Western medicine,TCM and screening exclusion criteria,65 cases of CHB with damp heat syndrome and 28 cases of CHB with liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome were finally included in the *** the basic information was gathered and the fresh fecal samples were collected for 16S rDNA sequencing.16S rDNA of gut microbiota was sequenced using Illumina hiseq 2,500 high-throughput sequencing *** on the optimized sequence,Operational Taxonomic Units(OTU)clustering analysis and taxonomic annotation were carried ***:The difference in relative abundance of gut microbiota was significant between damp heat syndrome and liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome in CHB *** was only found in damp heat *** relative abundance of Erysipelotrichia and Subdoligranulum were higher in liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome,while the relative abundance of Rhodospirillales,Alphaproteobacteria and Lachnospira were higher in the damp heat *** Effect Size(LEfSe)analysis showed that Lachnospira,Olsenella and Subdoligranulum had significant difference in species among the two TCM ***:The different characteristics of gut microbiota in the two TCM syndromes of CHB patients may play an important role in syndrome formation of TCM,which provides a new field of vision for the accurate diagnosis and treatment of TCM.
