Background Natural and synthetic plant growth regulators are essential for plant health,likewise these regulators also play a role in increasing organic production productivity and improving quality and yield *** the present study,we have evaluated the effects of foliar applied plant growth regulators,i.e.,moringa leaf extract(MLE)and mepiquat chloride(MC)alone and in combination MC and MLE on the conventional cotton cultivar(CIM 573)and transgenic one(CIM 598).The growth regulators were applied at the start of bloom,45 and 90 days after *** The application of MC and MLE at 90 days after blooming significantly improved the relative growth rate,net assimilation rate,the number of bolls per plant,and seed cotton ***,the combined application of MLE and MC at 90 days after blooming significantly boosted the nitrogen uptake in locules,as well as the phosphorus and potassium uptake in the leaves of both cotton *** application of MLE alone has considerably improved the nitrogen uptake in leaves,and phosphorus and potassium contents in locules of Bt and conventional cotton ***,Bt cotton treated with MLE at 90 days after blooming produced significantly higher ginning out turn and oil *** in combination(MLE+MC)at 90 days after blooming produced considerably higher micronaire value,fiber strength,and staple length in conventional *** The natural growth enhancer,MLE is a rich source of minerals and zeatin,improving the nutrient absorption and quality of cotton fiber in both conventional and Bt cotton cultivars.

Using I-V characteristics to investigate selected contacts for SnO_2:F thin films

Fluorine doped tin oxide （SnO2：F） thin films were prepared on glass substrates by the spray pyrolysis （SP） technique at different substrate temperatures between 380480 ℃. The microstructure of the films was explored using scanning electron microscope observations. An investigation of selected contacts for the films was performed through the analysis of the I-V measurements which were taken in the dark at room temperature. Indium, aluminum and silver were selected as contacts where two strips of each metal were vacuum-evaporated on the surface of the film. The resistivity of the films was estimated from the linear I-V plots. It was found that the smallest resistivity was obtained using silver contacts, while the largest resistivity was obtained by using indium contacts. This is because silver diffuses in the film and participates in doping, while aluminum and indium cause compensation effects when they diffuse in the film. The best linear fit parameters are those of films with aluminum contacts, and the worst ones are those of films with indium contacts. Annealing was found to improve the electrical properties of the films, especially those deposited at a low substrate temperature. This is because it is expected to encourage crystal growth and to reduce the contact potential which leads to the formation of an alloy. Annealed films are more stable than un-annealed ones.

A comparison between different ohmic contacts for ZnO thin films

There are several metals that form ohmic contacts for ZnO thin films, such as copper, aluminum and silver. The aim of this work is to make a comparison between these ohmic contacts. To achieve this purpose, polycrystalline ZnO thin films were prepared by the spray pyrolysis technique, and characterized by the I-V measurements at room temperature. Two strips of each metal were thermally evaporated on the surface of the film and measurements were first recorded in the dark and room light, then in the dark before and after annealing for A1, which was found to be the best in the set. Films with aluminum contacts gave the smallest resistivity, best ohmicity and they are slightly affected by light as required. On the other hand, copper was found to be the worst, and films with copper contacts gave the largest resistivity, worst ohmicity and they are the most affected by light. Annealing improved the aluminum contacts due to alloying and doping.

Effects of wet-cupping on blood pressure in hypertensive patients:a randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND： Although cupping remains a popular treatment modality worldwide, its efficacy for most diseases, including hypertension, has not been scientifically evaluated. OBjECTIVE： We aimed to determine the efficacy of wet-cupping for high blood pressure, and the incidence of the procedure＇s side effects in the intervention group. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS： This is a randomized controlled trial conducted in the General Practice Department at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between May 2013 and February 2014. There were two groups （40 participants each）： intervention group undergoing wet-cupping （hijama） in addition to conventional hypertension treatment, and a control group undergoing only conventional hypertension treatment. Three wet-cupping sessions were performed every other day. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE： The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressures were measured using a validated automatic sphygmomanometer. The follow-up period was 8 weeks. RESULTS： Wet-cupping provided an immediate reduction of systolic blood pressure. After 4 weeks of follow-up, the mean systolic blood pressure in the intervention group was 8.4 mmHg less than in the control group （P = 0.046）. After 8 weeks, there were no significant differences in blood pressures between the intervention and control groups. In this study, wet-cupping did not result in any serious side effects. CONCLUSION： Wet-cupping therapy is effective for reducing systolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients for up to 4 weeks, without serious side effects. Wet-cupping should be considered as a complementary hypertension treatment, and further studies are needed.

The Effect of Consumption on the Appearance of Closers Implemented by 3D Printer Technology (FDM)

The shift towards sustainability in the fashion industry has become an urgent necessity and a national duty, where the life cycle of garments poses a negative impact on the environment, which increases strongly with the huge increase in the daily consumption of garments and fast fashion. One of the most prominent solutions that have been proposed is to change the manufacturing system in a way that would help reduce costs, reduce supply and provide products that are more closely related to the individual customer need. Accessories such as (closers) are an important part of the fashion industry, and therefore, this study aimed to produce closers using (FDM) technology, which is one of the least expensive and most widespread 3D printing technologies. These closers are then tested in the laboratory according to AATCC standard specifications for garments and closers to ensure the applicability of this technology in the implementation of closers for designers and manufacturers in medium and small facilities. This study relied on the experimental exploratory approach, and the results proved the success of the proposed closers, as the implemented models passed the standard tests with distinction.

Impact of Omega-3 Nutritional Protocol on the Occurrence of Preeclampsia among High Risk Pregnant Women

Purpose： to examine the impact of omega-3 nutritional protocol for risky pregnant women on the occurrence of preeclampsia. Topic： Supplementation with omega-3 has been proposed to reduce the risk of preeclampsia, but the effects of this intervention are still uncertain. Method： A RCT （randomized controlled trial） had been conducted on 400 pregnant women between 12 and 16 weeks of gestation. Women were assigned randomly to either the control group or the study group. Achievements： Of the 400 women enrolled, 195 were randomly assigned to the study group and 205 to the control group. There was a significant difference between the study and the control groups in relation to the incidence ofpreeclampsia （0.5% and 5.5% respectively, P 〈 0.05）.

Knowledge and Attitude of Pregnant Women toward Elective Cesarean Section in Saudi Arabia

Background: The rate of deliveries by cesarean section (CS) is increasing worldwide. An elective cesarean section (ECS) is a cesarean section carried with or without a medical reason, in some cases choice by pregnant women. The number of women demanding for delivery by elective cesarean section is increasing in Saudi Arabia. Although CS is the commonest major surgery performed in Obstetrics throughout the world;there are still concerns about the knowledge and attitude of Saudi Pregnant women towards it. Methods: The design of this study was a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The study sample consisted of 206 pregnant women attending antenatal clinic during the third trimester, selected by convenience sampling method from Maternity and Children Hospital in jeddah City in Saudi Arabia. Structured interview questionnaire was used in this study. Different statistical procedures were used for data analysis including percentages, mean, and mean percentages. Content validity and reliability were done. Results: The majorities (78.2%) of the pregnant women have adequate level of knowledge about ECS, 14.6% of them have moderate knowledge, and only 7.3% have inadequate knowledge. Also, 137 (66.5%) of pregnant women have negative attitude toward ECS, while 58 (28.2%) have positive attitude. Conclusion and recommendations: The study concluded that there was a good level of knowledge among pregnant women about ECS in most of the instrument questions in general;except in some areas such as the bad consequences of CS. On the other hand, the majority of the pregnant women had negative attitude toward ECS. Health care provider such as doctors, nurses and midwives should provide adequate knowledge to the pregnant women about consequence of cesarean section on the mother and child. Various interventions are recommended to decline unnecessary cesarean section. These interventions need to contain changes in attitude and correcting misperceptions among pregnant women

Introduction: We report an eight-case series of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). Methods: Children who tested positive for COVID-19, met the MIS-C criteria of the World Health Organization (WHO), and were hospitalized at a tertiary hospital in Riyadh from September to December 2021 were identified and their clinical data reviewed. Results: The age at diagnosis is between 4 to 13 years old. Fever, decreased oral intake, gastroenteritis, and abdominal pain were the most common symptoms. All cases showed hyperinflammation with high C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, ferritin levels, and deranged coagulation profiles. Most of the cases had elevated B-type natriuretic peptide (75%) and troponin (100%) levels. However, two cases had cardiovascular involvement. Two patients presented with acute respiratory distress syndrome and required mechanical ventilation. The mean hospital stay was 13.1 days, with seven patients initially requiring intensive care management for ionotropic support. Most cases required broad-spectrum antibiotics, intravenous steroids, intravenous immunoglobulin, and aspirin. All patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital in good clinical condition. Conclusion: Children with COVID-19 are at risk of developing MIS-C. Practitioners must have a high index of suspicion for its diagnosis and should start treatment as soon as possible to prevent unfavorable outcomes.

Relation between serum progranulin, inflammatory markers and visceral fat in childhood obesity

Aim: To study serum progranulin (PGRN) level in children with obesity and its relationship to inflamamatory markers and visceral fat. Methods: Fifty obese children and 50 controls aged 10-18 years were recruited. Demographic, anthropometric and biochemical features were collected according to a standard protocol. Serum progranulin levels, serum IL-6 and hsCRP were measured using ELISA. Insulin resistance was calculated by the homeostasis model (HOMA-IR) using the following formula: HOMA-IR = fasting insulin (mU/L) × fasting glucose (mmoL/L)/ 22.5. The maximum visceral fat thickness (VFT) and the minimum subcutaneous fat thickness (SFT) were measured by ultrasonography. Results: In the obese group, a significant increase was found in serum PGRN (48.87 ± 42.33 ng/mL) compared to control group (30.18 ± 23.82 ng/mL). Progranulin correlated significantly with VFT (r = 0.475), IL6 (r = 0.368), Insulin(r = 0.440) and HOMA-IR (r = 0.379). The mean serum progranulin in the high tertile VFT group was significantly higher than those in the low tertile and middle tertile groups (P = 0.030 and P = 0.039 respectively). VFT was highly positively correlated to progranulin, SFT, IL6, insulin, HOMA-IR and hsCRP (P = 0.001, 0.000, 0.001, 0.001, 0.003 and 0.003). However, the correlation coefficient between SFT and progranulin was insignificant. Summary: we demonstrated for the first time that serum PGRN concentrations increased in Egyptian obese children. The concentrations of serum PGRN correlated closely with visceral fat and IL6. Conclusion: PGRN may contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic inflammation in obesity. It could be a novel marker of visceral fat in obesity. Thus PGRN could be a potential therapeutic target for management of chronic inflammation in obesity.
